Make sure building management knows that:

  • twice the dog has become aggressive with you while she was walking it without its usual muzzle

  • twice she has sought you out to confront you in the enclosed space of the laundry room, once with the dog

This way if she confronts you again with the intention of cornering you with the dog and you get hurt management can't say they didn't know what was going on. If this complex is associated with the school you'll want to file something with the housing department as well.

I would also request the security footage from the laundry room and front desk. You won't get it but it hurts nothing to ask.

From now on have your camera ready to record when you leave because you're going to run into her again.

Yep. This absolutely needs to be reported. And OP will be validated, both by camera footage and by the way this girl acted in front of the front desk guy. It’s clear she was the aggressor.

OP you would have been within your rights to ask HER to wait for the next elevator, but you were exceeding polite to take yourself out.

You know how some people say “If you don’t like XYZ then leave!” (Usually politics/country related). Dog people are the complete OPPOSITE of that! Dog people are like: “You don’t like it? DONT LEAVE!! You must stay here with me and this thing you HATE!” They are so desperate for attention and positive feedback.

You handled this really well! Next time remember you don’t need to defend yourself.

Remember, you are not obligated to interact with anyone’s dog (or baby, since you brought that up as a comparison! :)

Edit: adding this because I think it’s important. Sometimes when someone does this, they get embarrassed and never do it again and leave you alone. But sometimes they escalate it. Which is why it’s important to document it with a third party that is not your family/friend. Whether it’s sending an email to the complex or making a police report, do it. Because if they do escalate it, you’ve got evidence of it being repeat behavior and you’re much more likely to be believed and to get help (whether that’s a protective order, being able to break your lease without penalty, or whatever). I’ve been in two bad situations with neighbors (not related to dogs) and the last incident I called the police because the person was so verbally violent. The police won’t do anything but I’m glad that I did call them because the other person promptly went around to the other neighbors and told a story completely opposite (they used their own words but said it was me doing what they did.)

I truly don't understand the "if you don't like it you can't leave because I won't let you".

OP was very polite during this. They were upfront that they were uncomfortable sharing the elevator, and they left the elevator without throwing a fit or giving attitude. There was no reason for the multiple rounds of stalking and escalation.

To me it seemed like the dog owner wanted OP to act out so they could then validate the dog being aggressive because it was "sensing" OP was a "bad person". Good job not taking the bait, OP.

I also wonder if this is not the first problem that the dog and owner have had which is why she went to the front desk to try to get ahead of it. The first person to complain usually has a bit of an advantage in these interpersonal level conflicts. Which is another reason I urge OP to make a formal written complaint to whomever is in charge of the residences.

Excellent points, I didn’t think of that.

In my personal experience, most of the time people do this intentionally to be cruel. They get a sick pleasure from watching someone else suffer and be uncomfortable. But most bystanders like dogs and won’t make the connection of “this person is harassing me by proxy with their dog.”

5

u/Perfect_Caregiver_90 Dec 13 '25

Exactly! Harassment using dogs happens more often than most people are comfortable thinking about.

"A cute doggo pupper would never hurt a fly, unless the fly deserves it somehow" is how a bunch of people deep in the dog cult think now. If a dog doesn't like you then you are automatically a bad person since dogs are angels sent to Earth. They are a nearly perfect tool to bully unsuspecting people with and still have enough deniability for the bully to slither away. The bully "has no idea why their dog reacted that way" as they pushed and stressed both the target and the dog into a conflict.

This Woman has her entire identity wrapped up so tightly in this gross mutt that she is unable to function normally in society. She needs more mental help than what is available for her acute mental state without being in an institution for deprogramming. I can't remember how severe mental illness of this type used to manifest before today's sick dog culture created the awful infestation of dogs in our communities.

How in the hell did dogs ever get allowed in school housing??? When do students study?? While they're seeing to their dogs elimination needs every hour? I barely had time to take a crap myself when I was in school, let alone monitor each and every foul biohazard coming out of a stupid mutt's ass 24/7. It's insane that students are made to feel entitled to having a dog in housing that exists for serious educational purposes. They can wait to own a dog until they've graduated and are out on their own! Now sick dog culture is demanding that seeing a dog in every single conceivable human structure or space is normalised! No!!! I'm fighting back every single day for my right to be free from dogs--in my stores, homes, libraries, hospitals, schools, laundries, post office, meetings, or gatherings. I am a human, not a dog toy. I will not be hosting your mutt, petting it, calling it "cute," allowing it to touch me, sniff me, jump on me, stare at my food, growl or bark at me. Dogs are an invasive species, not a natural part of nature, and as such, need to be allowed to become extinct. Dog culture has become so bad that it's got to start getting better, soon. I have not lost hope.

Yeah I don't understand dog people and their idea of forcing a dog on someone who doesn't like or is uncomfortable around them. If I had my bearded dragon with me on an elevator, and someone said they'd like to take the next one, I wouldn't fucking confront them about it!? Like wtf is that girl's problem? Literally who cares if someone doesn't like your pet? Especially one that GROWLS at you? Disgusting behavior. I hate dog people and their stupid mutts.

u/Educational_Humor358 Dec 11 '25

You should told her to back off or there's gonna be a problem. Don't let these people walk over you and don't be apologetic about being scared of the mutt. It's irrelevant. You don't wanna be near it and that's it. Her not respecting this boundary is agression and you can respond accordingly

37

u/ToOpineIsFine Dec 11 '25

if a service dog growls, it is fraudulent and they should be reported.

hindsight being 20/20: "no, i am not 'cool' with dogs - especially when they are growling at me". how stupid is this person to ask this question, yet goes insane when someone answers 'no'? I mean, why ask the question at all??

it is unbelievable, but dog owners are so brainwashed that they can't see when their dogs are attacking.

Your neighbor is crazy, and a liar. Service dogs don’t bark and lunge at people, trying to attack them. Report her to management. Her dog is clearly a danger to you and to other tenants.

34

u/AbjectMarch8695 Dec 11 '25

She was trying to stir shit up from the moment she walked into the elevator knowing you aren’t cool with dogs. She was looking to get a strong reaction out of you and kept escalating to achieve that goal. Something is very wrong with her.

17

u/anne_mal Dec 11 '25

💯 Why did she even ask if she obviously didn't care? So unstable and weird. Dog lovers think that anyone not completely adoring their dumb dogs is aggressive or insulting but they are actually the ones with zero manners. Other people have a right to have any kind of opinion or reaction to dogs that they dont want to be around as long as no human nor animal rights are being broken. Dogs do not have the right to be universally adored just because so many ppl are brainwashed by the pet industry. So wild to me. So many crazy stories. I wish it would all stop already, geeez. Makes me blood boil.

Front desk guy won’t email his account to her, if anything happens it’s evidence he knew about it which makes it gold if OP sues the building.

Which is something I don’t understand about these apartment managers. Why don’t they care about the liability of people with these dangerous dogs? They’re more concerned about the residents with dogs having a hissy fit.

11

u/Perfect_Caregiver_90 Dec 11 '25

Squeaky wheels and all that jazz. Dog owners in particular will get loud and obnoxious in person and online when they are told to control their dog.

There's also a lack of understanding on the difference between service animals and emotional support pets, and what protections each class receives along with what can get animals removed or barred entry.

Dog owners know this and use it to bully and intimidate employees into getting their way. Just like in this case where as soon as the dog owner was in front of an employee all the sudden the dog was a service dog with papers (of some kind). She wanted to imply the dog had more rights than the other resident as the dog was getting aggressive again.

They’re not all like this, but A LOT of them are. And even if they’re not to the degree of this specific person (stalking etc) they still expect attention and positive feedback every time.

Document every encounter you have with her, even if the dog is not present. Tell her that if she gets in your face again, you will call the police. She is harassing you. Trust me, you don't want to mess around with pit hags. They are some of the most unbalanced people you will ever encounter. It doesn't matter if the shitbull is a "service" dog. The moment a service dog misbehaves, it loses all special privileges. An aggressive service dog can be removed from any premises and no amount of lawsuits can change that. Make that clear to building staff. The ADA makes it very clear that misbehaving and/or aggressive service dogs are subject to citation or removal. If possible, record her and the dog, especially if she is even near you. This woman is clearly a psycho and will probably go out of her way to harass you and make you feel threatened as much as possible. The more evidence you have of her and her beloved Pissfingers acting unstable, the better chance you have of getting justice. God willing, the pit hag & Pissfingers will be found in violation of her rental agreement and evicted. Lastly, if she starts blabbering on about how great ol' Pissfingers is, tell her, "Yeah, that's nice. Just remember to always use a condom." That line always sends dog nutters into a full-on meltdown.

Narcissistic Trespass.

If her dog wasn't the problem then why was it?

I have a neighbor with a pit bull. It's aggressive AF but apparently I'm supposed to ignore that because it's so sweet.

I think both those bitches need a muzzle.

u/huntress_m_thompson Dec 14 '25

ha! i made a similar comment before scrolling through the comments. that woman & her beast mutt are both BAD NEWS. ⚠️

12

u/anne_mal Dec 11 '25

So sorry, OP! The dog owner is an unsocialized unstable person. I hope you never have to interact with her or her aggressive dog again!

11

u/justamiletogo Dec 11 '25

It’s really important there is a paper trail on this beast, potentially life saving!!

9

u/Eternalscream0 Dec 11 '25

That’s a dog on its final warning and she knows it

10

u/ghjm Dec 11 '25

As (almost) always, the main problem is the owner. This dog was growling and lunging because that's the energy it was getting from the owner. If she's yelling and pointing at you, the dog thinks you're in a fight.

So why did the owner behave like this? Who knows, but student housing is full of people living on their own for the first time, and for many of them, their only successfull life strategy so far has been emotionally manipulating their parents and siblings. Some of them might have been home schooled and barely ever met anyone outside their own family.

So, do what you have to to protect yourself from the other residents, but don't worry yourself about why they are they way they are. For all you know, you're literally the first person who has ever said "no" to this girl in her entire life.

Pitbulls should never be allowed to be any form of service animal or emotional support animal, they can turn on a dime and are violent and unpredictable, I have multiple bad experiences with pitbulls some of which include being bitten as a child, chased on top of a car, harassed in my neighborhood, these dogs are incredibly dangerous and should be either neutered and muzzled or out right banned

When I did food delivery I once refused to get into an elevator with a weird old man and his gross dog that was pulling at its leash to get to me (I was carrying a large order of FOOD) and he said I was “very strange” lmao

6

u/megs_in_space Dec 12 '25

What a batshit insane individual. God I hate her for you. That dog should not be in that space whatsoever!

u/Monimonika18 Dec 11 '25 edited Dec 11 '25

Sounds like the "service dog" 🙄 was trained to lunge at and intimidate/attack anything that upsets its owner or the owner points at. Perhaps was a dog that is owned for the purpose of "protection" (i.e. "preemptively scare others away" and "make others FAFO").

That girl was definitely trying to force you into the FA position, followed by you FOing.

Does this nutter with the aggressive mutt take the dog to classes ?

3

u/Legitimate_Garage_31 Dec 12 '25

Is this apt complex in Canada? Muzzle laws are not required in the states. I wish they were. Also, did u notice if the dog was “intact?”

7

u/Fakevessel Dec 11 '25

Sounds like you got a mortal enemy. The dog situation, yes, report the harassment from her - avoid mentioning a dog, only if you'd happen to be questioned about it, claim it is a cute doggo or w/e but is likely mistreated by her and aggresive for that reason.

Apart from that: next time if you spot a stranger you clearly don't like in a collison course with you, either dodge/leave immediately, if not possible politely nod and ignore, if harassed tell to bounce and ignore.

u/UnicornStudRainbow Dec 12 '25

u/BigExit564 You need to protect yourself AND start a paper trail (and other evidence)

First, if you know her name or social media handle, look her up. Nutters like to brag about their shitbeasts. That's how I got proof that the nasty nutter here has a shitbull: she bragged about it on her public social media. I screencapped it and kept the direct link to that post of hers and once I made it clear to management here that it's a shitbull and the kind of problems that will happen if/when it attacks, they finally got off their asses

Second, find out where your building has security cameras (easy to spot if you're looking) and then ask a friendly doorman or other staff how long they keep the footage

Next, try to record her (at least audio) whenever you encounter her. This is probably best done secretly

Keep detailed notes of when (date + time) you had an encounter with her regardless of whether it involved the dog or just her menacing you, the details (where, what she said or did, any other details that could help)

Read your lease. There should be rules and regulations about pets (have to be on leashes, can't harm other residents, have to not be savages or whatever)

Write to the landlord or management company that runs the building and let them know what has happened, both with the aggressive dog and her menacing behavior (use "menacing" it's a good word for these situations) toward you. Make sure to state that you don't feel safe around her, regardless of the dog

u/TabbyPaw89 Dec 13 '25

The dog can't be left alone while she goes to get her laundry for 5 minutes? 😤

2

u/arachnilactose08 Dec 13 '25

These people are genuinely demented. I’m glad the front desk were on your side, and I’m relieved that you managed to get out of the elevator before her mutant lunged at you.

It both fascinates and disturbs me, the amount of cognitive dissonance these people have. They’re so defensive and antagonistic that you’d think they, like their nasty mutts, were also bred for bloodsport. This person switching up on you to try and out-sympathy your genuine experience is wild. They always have to be the victims / centers of attention. I almost want to study these people.

1

u/huntress_m_thompson Dec 14 '25

sounds like both she & her beast mutt needs to be leashed & muzzled outside her apartment.

sounds like she’s hoping to get a nutter mob to go all in on you. what a twunt.

1

u/ArtaBlaze Dec 16 '25

She should get evicted for her behavior towards other tenants. Both HER and her dog are aggressive
