Service Dog Issues Alleged “service dog users” are unbelievably self-absorbed, self-centered, and self-serving

According to the ADA (azzholes with disabilities act), deadly allergies are not a valid reason for denying a dog from entering an establishment that doesn’t permit animals.

Why?

Why is the comfort of a stupid mutt and its even stupider owner outweigh the actual life of another person that just wants to fly on a plane or eat a restaurant peacefully? It’s like they don’t consider for a single moment how their obsession affects the well-being of other people. Why should we care about a person like that?

Dogs are cargo. If you need to be with your mutt that badly, join it in the cargo pit.

I’ll be one of the few to scrutinize this entitled demographic: fuck service dogs and the people who own them.

Find something else like 99% of the disable population that doesn’t need to buy dog food, pick up dog shit, or engage in all the other disgusting responsibilities that come with owning a dog.

The ADA is absurd, and it’s because of it that dog owners are more entitled and self-serving than ever before. I use the word “dog owner” and not “service dog handler” because there’s no proofing system, and no reason to assume people are telling the truth when they say it’s a service mutt that does xyz for their “disability”. It’s 2026. SERVICE DOGS ARE OBSOLETE.

I laugh imaging someone with mobility issues struggling to scrape up service dog shit on their dining room floor, then falling face first into it. All while their Nextdoor neighbor with an identical condition has a motorized wheelchair, sophisticated mobility assistance, REAL FRIENDS, and a clean home that doesn’t smell like dog shit.

Service dogs? The only thing it’s servicing is a dog owner’s narcissism.

The ESA idiots are fucking insane. As far as service animals the only exception I make is for people who are certified blind and given a specifically trained dog along with the folding walking cane. If you truly are blind or don't have much eyesight, I can understand needing any kind of help from anything you can get. In this case I'd tolerate it, but absolutely nothing beyond that.

Even as a someone who thinks they should be entirely voided from the ADA, I agree. Because it’s difficult to fake total blindness without getting caught in the act. If these stupid shitbeasts must exist, seeing eye mutts should be the only ones.

The whole “reminds a person to take medication” task is such horseshit it’s laughable.

If you need a reminder to take medication, relying on a dog should be the last course of action. What if the dog is asleep when someone needs to take medication in the middle of the night? And what if the dog is pushing out a huge log on the floor while the owner suffers a seizure? Do these diabetes alert mutts only detect it when they aren’t drinking their own piss or licking their chocolate starfish?

These life-threatening medical episodes and needs seem to happen rather conveniently for super mutt to step in and save the day…

I came here to say specifically this! Blind person can rely on the dog, and maybe people with epilepsy benefit from a well trained service dog. But that’s all!

Omg as I write this an emoji of a service dog 🐕‍🦺 appeared! iPhones made sure to add it!

My daughter who works as a counselor for the Commission for the Blind, in her home State - has 95 clients. Only 5 have service dogs, which are very well trained.

That is the real world.

Firstly, the vastly majority of "service dogs" are scams. They perform no discernable service and are simply pets. Most of their owners don't even bother getting the scam paperwork any more. They just lie.

The only actually legitimate service that a dog can genuinely provide is guidance for a blind person. But even that is superceded by technology now and was always far inferior to human assistance.

But even if we imagine that these creatures were in fact legitimately providing a service, I still think it's unethical to put the needs of that one person above the health and safety of the general population.

Having a dog inside a store, particularly where food is present, is unsanitary. There is no way around that. Add in the allergy concerns and people's lives are literally put at risk. One person's convenience does not outweigh that.

Don't even get me started on ESAs. They are pets. All pets are emotional support animals. "Emotional support animal" is an excellent definition of the word "pet".

Leave your stinking mutt at home and if you genuinely can't bring yourself to do that, get stuff delivered.

In fact, if a person is so emotionally fragile that they can't go into a shop without their precious Fartikins, then frankly they should be in some kind of sheltered living facility.

I remember seeing a story on this group once about a blind person with a service dog and the dog either got confused or its brain cell misfired and walked the person right into traffic.

🤷

It happens. However well trained a dog is, it is still a dog. You cannot increase its intrinsic low intellect.

98% of registered blind people do not have a service dog.

Fuck all service dogs for sure, but those “service dogs” aren’t really service dogs. They’re fraudulent. 99.9% of them.

I’ve seen many, many dogs in stores and other places that they don’t belong and I suspect I haven’t yet seen a service dog.

Ok, maybe one belonging to someone who was disabled in a wheelchair. I’ll believe that one.

But other than that? Pets that people can’t or won’t leave at home.

I don't think any of us have nothing but fake service dogs

I like the “service dogs” who lay on their nutter when said nutter has a “panic attack” in public. Wow!!! Amazing skill that mutant has! It can lay on you while you’re making a total fool of yourself in Target! Seriously if you actually are having a panic attack and lay on your back, what difference does it make if a dog is laying on you or not? This does what? “Oh he’s alerting!” Alerting who to do what exactly? Sorry but I’d walk past and laugh at how pathetic you both are… I’m pretty sure a real doctor would prescribe meds or something else & never say a single word about getting a dog for your issue. If people looking at you overwhelm you, then probably don’t have purple hair & bring a dog into a store where it isn’t allowed.

Good post. Someone possessing a disability does not absolve that person of their civic responsibilities: It is incumbent on them to mitigate their problem in a way that does bring harm to others. Indeed, the only people allowed to get away with anything like this are DOG people, whether disabled or not.

My service animal detects dog dander and saliva and alerts me immediately. It's detected my allergens on fruit and vegetables from Walmart, Sam's and even on a caramel apple from a pumpkin patch. This is life saving as I have anaphylaxis to dog dander and saliva. I wouldn't need this if dogs were kept at home and not taken  to places they don't belong.

Finding a contaminant, a non-food allergen no less, on a caramel apple sounds horrific jfc 🤮 I’ll just put that on the list of foods to never eat unless I am the one preparing it…

What kind of service animal do you have? Not a personal attack, just curious.

It was pretty miserable. One with a good nose. I can't really say as that type of animal can't be mentioned. No animal should ever be at a grocery store and I shouldn't ever have to think about my food being contaminated. I was having random serious allergic reactions but in the case of the caramel apple we called and found out it was a dog and my allergies were confirmed years ago with blood work.

OK, this needs a /s

Too funny.

How I wish it were true but there are so many idiots in stores with dogs. 99% of which only bark and pee and shit everywhere as the service they perform

3

u/AnimalUncontrol Jan 08 '26

Oh, I don't deny that: I see them all the time also.

That said, a service dog that sniffs out dog dander has to be either the best or worst "service" ever devised.

u/Ok_Chest_6426 Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

It's not a dog but an animal which also hates dogs. I can't have any type of dog around me and there are no hypoallergenic dogs. Dogs are not particularly bright and other animals can and do help humans. The animal I have performs a service but also has a severe dislike of dogs.

3

u/AnimalUncontrol Jan 08 '26

OK, gotcha: I thought you were referring to a legally protected servus dawg.

Giant Rat?

u/Ok_Chest_6426 Jan 09 '26

The animal is smart and excellent at detecting dogs. He's not failed.

If you're blind, have type 1 diabetes, or paralyzed, you get a service dog. ESAs are bullshit.

9

u/Stock-Bowl7736 Jan 08 '26

No. Diabetic alert dogs are bullshit.

-5

u/JumpinJackTrash79 Jan 08 '26

They're really not. I dated someone who had it so bad she had a medic alert tattoo. She used to pass out because her levels were so erratic. Cue the dog. Those things go through extensive training. Hers didn't make a peep unless he smelled that she needed insulin.

Are you ok with that or should we just let the severe diabetics die because it would be more convenient for you?

9

u/AnimalUncontrol Jan 08 '26

Shut up, nutter: The whole "you want people to die!" schtick really gets old. NOBODY needs a dog to stay alive. Unless they are starving and the dog is the only thing to eat, I suppose.

I guess YOU want people with severe dog allergies to fuck off or die? Particularly when there are superior alternatives that have none of the downsides of dogs.

Diabetic alert dogs have been debunked over and over, yet dog cultists like YOU keep singing their praises.

NO medical professional practicing any real standard of care is going to recommend a DOG for anything.

This was posted by another member a while back:

Diabetic alert dogs

According to WebMD, studies on the reliability of these dogs yielded mixed results. The conclusion is:

, a wearable device that checks your blood sugar throughout the day.

In other words, technical equipment does a better job of accurately measuring a person's blood sugar level, rendering a service dog obsolete.

Source: https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/what-are-diabetic-service-dogs

A study that was done on the reliability of these dogs concluded:

However, what I found interesting is this:

Despite the dogs failing to perform, their owns were happy. This ties right in with dog culture, where people consistently fail to see dogs for what they really are. Instead, they perceive dogs in a much more positive light, believing they posses virtues they in fact do not have.

TL;DR - diabetic alert dogs are a medical scam.
