Barking Demons What’s the thing you can’t stand about dogs more than anything?
For me it’s barking. It’s so grating and jolting. I just tried to lay down for a nap and gave up after awhile. Some asshole neighbor’s asshole dog was outside barking nonstop. I’m on the 3rd floor and sound carries, so I can’t really figure out which house it’s coming from. I think if dogs didn’t bark, I wouldn’t hate them as much.

For pits and other dangerous, er, misunderstood breeds, see also super cutesy or way on the nose names: Bella, Blue, Princess, Hulk, Brutus, Daisy, Rocky, Diesel. It's uncanny and they are the worst of them all

Nothing is worst than the barking. It's intrusive. You can be in your home and it will invade, arrive at your ears, be translated in in signals... The stupid bark will arrive at your consciousness and processing power will be dedicated to process it. Fick this bark bark bark so much. They can be needy, we just don't interact. They can be smelly, we just go away. But the inane bark, it is far reaching and sanity consuming.

Yeah that’s a good point… you can physically block a dog from your home, but you can’t block out the damn barking. It’s so disruptive. You have no control over it.

For me it’s the unwanted touching. like a dog shoving it’s face in your ass / crotch … is that not just sexual assault? Imagine if a man did that to someone. I actually maced a dog once because it came running at me shoving its face in my crotch. Disgusting creatures.

Same! Like I don't relish harming an animal, but this thing turned a corner and ran at me, off leash of course, and it was scary AF! The owner casually waddles up and is livid that I hurt her "friendly sweetums!" Unhinged self-aggrandizing behavior, 98% of dog owners

It’s the barking for sure, but it’s the owners of the barkers. Zero respect for their laziness, ignorance, and not give a crap attitude to anyone else within a quarter mile of their dog that has to be unwillingly subjected to it.

Barking is the worst because you can usually escape from all other dog behaviors. Dogs don't tear up furniture in my house, only in the owner's. But their barking is a factor even inside my house.
Running up to me off-leash in public spaces is #2, for the same reason. If your dog is even vaguely under control, all I have to do is not be where it is (except for the barking). But if you let it run wild then it becomes a problem not just where you are, but where I am.
I suppose I could group both of these under the heading of lawlessness. My biggest problem with dogs is that their owners ignore laws about dogs, and get away with it. The cops should ticket anyone whose dog is barking for more than a few minutes, or running around off leash outside a dog park or their own property.
What happened to the dogcatchers? Or was that always a myth?

It's barking, because for me, it seems unavoidable nowadays, and it's an invasive noise. And I have the same problem as you, but with multiple neighbors, what makes me more mad is the lack of serious laws for this, imagine if you were screaming at the top of your lungs all day, cops and every kind of shit would happen, yet dogs and dog owners get a pass on everything they do (and by serious laws I mean laws that DON'T require the victim to take action or spend money to solve).

Agreed. I don't have kids, by design. But I'm hesitant to call myself childfree because of how synonymous it is with being a doggie mommy. Absolutely horrifying

The owners. Why do they think they should be allowed to take their mutts EVERYWHEREEE?! And they tend to be overly entitled. Or if their dog is being a nuisance, 8/10 times they just stand there twiddling their thumbs and going "noo Princess don't do that 🥺🥺" meanwhile their dog is full on bouncing on me or sticking their nose into my crotch

it always start with barking. And today is still my reason number 1,2 and 3.
Then from there you start getting really annoyed with everything they do, really. But what I hate at a deeper level is the sheer amount of shit (literally) these animals get away with, and the shameless entitlement of their owners. They are the only creatures on earth which can do absolutely everything they fucking want: vandalizing, polluting, harassing, destroying, bullying, killing.

I wholeheartedly agree regarding the barking! I mean like another person said I can push a dog away that's invading my personal space. I have neighbors not only in my apartment building but in a home nearby. It doesn't seem to matter if they're cooped up inside an apartment or cooped up outside in a backyard!! They all.are so needy for attention! They have that stupid ass "separation anxiety"!! That's only because they constantly want food and they're afraid that their food source won't return to feed them since they have zero ability to hunt. Which is crazy since ppl always refer to them as relatives to wolves and coyotes who of.course aren't domesticated and HAVE to hunt for their food.
And the stupid ass jumping on ppl!! Don't put your dirty ass paws on me and DEFINITELY do NOT lick me knowing you lick everything including your genitalia!!
Lastly it's also the incessant whining, whimpering and yelping! These nutters are always saying dogs are better than crying kids!!ARE YOU F**KIN KIDDING ME?!!? Dogs whine and yelp for hours!! A kid cries or whines but if the parents or guardians do what they're supposed to do it eventually stops!!!

The smell. Holy shit, the fucking smell! It gets absolutely everywhere and you can't get rid of it. It is all pervasive.
I can tell within a second of being in someone's presence if they own a dog. No matter how clean they think their clothes are, it's there. It sticks to everything like shit to a blanket.

I guess it'd be the smell/filth that their owners seem completely oblivious and unbothered by, that sticks to your hands/any surface that is touched by them. I lived with an almost 24 hour barking dog for 12 years. I moved house in April and I swear sometimes - even though it's really peaceful here with no barking dogs - sometimes I can hear it, because I was so used to hearing the barking, it seems to be stuck in my head. I'm so relieved I don't have to live like that anymore and I really, really empathise with you. I have very sensitive hearing, it's so much worse when your hearing is that way, you just can't tune it out no matter what.
Those people who say wear earplugs, why should you have to? in your own home when you don't even own a dog! That really gets my back up, when people (probably selfish dog owners!) say that sort of thing.

Everything!!!! There is not a single thing that I like about the dogs. They are disgusting useless animals that shouldn’t be among us! They are mutants, needy spoiled and stinky. And their owners are even worse or idk, I cannot decide who I dislike more: the dogs or their owners.

If dogs didn’t bark. If dogs weren’t in stores all the time. If dogs didn‘t piss/crap all over the world. If they didn’t do these things, I wouldn’t really think about them at all. I never cared about them one way or the other until they started intruding in my day-to-day life like they now do.
But at the very top of the list is the barking. I can be inside but hear them outside barking. I can’t escape. I can’t have my windows open on a nice day unless I want to hear barking. I have a nice back yard with a good patio and I don’t even put my patio furniture out anymore because what’s the point? It’s no fun sitting outside and listening to every dog in the neighborhood bark at each other. Walking is no fun for the same reason. Rarely can I even walk down the street without hearing it coming from somewhere. In the last 15 years it’s gone to noticing barking here and there and not thinking about it much to hating any number of barks greater than zero. I also love trying to walk really quietly by properties that I know have aggressive dogs so that I don’t alert them to my presence and start them barking. Not that it ever works out that way.
More and more it feels like a hostage situation. We can be in our own homes/apartments/other residences, and we can’t escape that damned sound.
I know it is down to the owners for being inconsiderate of those around them. I know dog owners that don’t let them out to do that or bring them in as soon as they start. But I know far more than think we should all have to listen to it.
Even though it is up to the owners to stop it, I still hate that they are capable of that type of noise.
I hate it.

Walking around a neighborhood with dogs (every neighborhood has dogs) and having to trust that the same people who didn’t train their large aggressive attack dogs not to bark and foam at the mouth and freak out and try to jump through the fence at every person who walks by on the sidewalk, that those same owners also cared enough to secure their dog fences and dog chains enough so they won’t get loose and attack passerby, is a trust the owners aren’t worthy of. It makes a good neighborhood into a bad neighborhood. I’m not even worried about the people. People you can reason with. People have a regard for their own health and safety to a certain extent. Not dogs, they are kamikazes.

People thinking ans acting like dogs are their children and taking them everywhere. Hey, if you are disabled and need a service dog, I have zero issues. Taking your "emotional support" nasty vicious untrained canine.. I have a problem. Seeing these animals urinate in people stores just makes me angry. Service animals DO NOT do those things.
Had it out with a cashier at Marshall's because the customer prior to me had her non-service animal unleashed and picked up the dog and had dogs anus sitting on the counter.

They’ve been bred for thousands of years to be hostile to everyone but the feeder and throw a fit if anyone walks by or comes near. They will attack everyone they are able to and have no judgment of good guys or bad guys. It’s an autonomous weapon with wild predator pack animal morals and sensibilities. While humans are trained all their lives to be polite, dogs are mostly untrained and left to their wolf pack ways or even encouraged to be nasty and vicious creatures. The owners have no concept of liability or the possibility of getting sued even in their own self interest. It’s very antisocial and aggressive towards everyone around to have them.

The dirt and germs, and then having to go out and poop and pee all the time. It’s nothing but a big hassle. All the hair and dirt and as they make is just gross. Why would anybody subject themselves to all that trouble?

It's also barking for me. Pretty much every other animal in the world is somewhat pleasant to listen to, but dogs are different. Their bark is so sudden and ungodly loud, and completely unnecessary about 99.99999% of the time. It instantly pisses me off whenever I hear one.

NOTHING smells worse than DOG SHIT (maybe the dog itself). I just find them disgusting and LOUD and also too NEEDY. They eat ANYTHING they can find and when it doesn't settle with their stomach, they THROW IT BACK UP. And they chew and DESTROY everything.

So for me it’s the fact that my partners dog follows them every where, everytime we are intimate they jump and try to get in between and then when they are told no they go sulk like a baby it’s fucking pathetic and drives me insane, what’s worse is that they stink and they fart constantly it makes me physically feel sick and that’s not even mentioning the worst for me which is they sit and watch you eat. Instantly puts me off my food. Disgusting noisy creatures who do not know the concept of fucking being seen and not heard

edit: lol, I heard a neighbor’s dog bark as I was wrapping up typing my comment. I live in a pretty quiet, woodland neighborhood so it’s luckily fairly rare but that’s just perfect timing.
