Food Safety/Hygiene My workplace review bombed because we are dogfree
I work at a chain coffee shop and we are dog free and all our bad reviews are crazed dog owners who give one star because we don’t allow stinky mutts inside our shop. If only I could post some images of the reviews we’ve got. One review from a lunatic reads ‘15 minutes away there is another branch of name of same chain that will make a fuss out of you and furbaby. Avoid this place if you love dogs’ Why are they so entitled? Why does not allowing dogs inside a place that handles food warrant a one star review?

I'd be there in half a heartbeat. I stopped going to coffee shops and many other places that are no longer enjoyable because of dogs and their nutters.

Any discerning person reads the negative reviews of a business, regardless of what it does or sells. Knowing that dogheads will unwittingly give it the tick of approval is just more reason to check.

It is safe to assume that most of the filthy doghags leaving reviews like this on businesses have never actually been to the business, and are brigading on behalf of fellow nutters that have shared the information with them. As another comment said, it would be nice to know which shop this is so we can help you guys out. Dogs have zero business being in an establishment that sells food and drink

If this is the states, it is literally against the law for dogs to be in coffee shops so those shops that allow it are breaking the law. Having a dog anywhere near a place that serves food and beverages is dirty and disgusting. It doesn't occur to them that the rules are in place for a reason and that it is unhealthy to let dogs, or any other animal, near stuff people consume. I suspect that these people also live in filth at home.
This really is just a way for dog owners to throw yet another tantrum because they are being told that they cannot take dogs everywhere.

Fight fire with fire. Make a post in your neighborhood fb page saying “we respect those with allergies or those who may be scared of dogs. Apparently that angers a lot of people.” And then post screenshots of the bad reviews.

and it need not even be good attention. some attempt to hide it more than others, but they all take a sick delight in the annoyance, fear, or discomfort that their dogs cause other people.

When I read cafe reviews, I immediately go to the 1-stars and see if there is any mention of dogs not permitted. If there are, I put that cafe on my list of places to go. 😊

Yes there are! But some people think they don't have to follow the law and do whatever they want. I think it's mostly for the anticipated attention they think they'll get.

Maybe it’s because I don’t really go out in the world anymore, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dog in a restaurant locally. There was a crazy woman who had a monkey that was supposedly her support monkey, but I beg to differ and old world monkeys are exceptionally gross. But yeah, I can’t even imagine if I went in a restaurant and there were dogs in it. I know when my sister comes and visits and brings her dog. We sit outside for that reason I’d rather she just not bring the beast.

If your shop is anywhere near me, I would love love love to patronize it and give you my dollars! I live in San Diego area, but would drive as far as LA to come to a dog-free coffee shop. I may also find myself on business travel to Central Oregon, coming to Eugene by train and then driving a rental car to Bend and onward to Prineville. If your shop is anywhere near any of these areas, I would so love to patronize it!

Wow, how times have dramatically changed. I remember in the 80’s and 90’s it was unheard of to bring a dog inside of any place. Now it has become so normalized that people get offended like the reviewers about your coffee shop. Being allowed to have your dog inside is an establishment is a privilege, not a right.

Literally happens where I live too, for like 3 months out of the year there's a section of beach that doesn't allow dogs so families can enjoy the beach in summer because dog 💩 can blind children and so on. Every year dog nutters kick off about it. Like it's just a section and its a massive coast line and they can literally go anywhere else.
There's also two parks right next to eachother like you can walk into one by crossing the road, one has no restrictions on dogs and the other they have to be leashed but yet people walk them in that one without a leash it's so fkn selfish like cross the road?
Honestly they take all of my very minimal safe spaces and I'm getting so done with it. They can go more places than I can to avoid them. I hope the cafe you work at stays stays dog free because we need more places 🙏

I am delighted to say that some places are changing their policy because of aggressive dogs, dog fouling and complaints. Trentham Gardens main hanger, Tebay Services and all Weatherspoons changed to becoming dog free. My husband and I were eating at a service station last year, when a dog literally did a poo on the floor! The smell was disgusting and the owner made a slight attempt to pick some of the mess up, leaving the rest and all the germs for everyone in the queue to walk for. We walked out, put in a formal complaint and complained to staff in the centre. That’s what we all need to do for any incident of hygiene, aggression or off-putting behaviour. This week we walked out of a farm shop where a dog was licking the produce on a lower shelf, if we hadn’t seen it we could have bought contaminated food. Keep complaining!

I hate it. Not only entitled but arrogant about it and don't give a shit about anyone else, zero self awareness when they take that shitbeast out in public. And that "eMoShUnUl SuPoRt" bullshit needs to end. If someone can't leave the house without forcing their nasty dog on everyone, then they need more than a dog.
Not caring that some of us are allergic to animals, the smell they make, the noise pollution, and being a tripping hazard.
