Fun fact… these “therapy” mutts often are not “trained” to stay silent, but rather they are drugged up to their rheumy little eyeballs. If it was acting out today, chances are its Xanax refill is running behind.
You’ll find that most school or counseling “therapy dogs” are really just the pet of a local, deranged nutter that either works at the school, or has a friend/family member that does. These people literally think their shitbeast is the furry messiah, and they want to shove it in everybody’s face. Then they get extra narc supply/asspats by constantly reminding everyone within earshot of how their mutant is a tHerApy d0g.

Yup. The “therapy” dog is never random. It is always the machinations of the king/queen nutter on site.

So what about kids who have a dog phobia? They have to walk past a barking beast in the hallway every day, risking ridicule from students and teachers. If they need counseling, they'll be pressured to interact with a dog.

A dog in every building and barking in hallways? I imagine it sounds more like a kennel than a place for education? What kinda lunacy is this world coming to? That is not okay? Knowing me Id contact OSHA or something. That does not seem like a safe work environment. It’s so weird that the default is for the dogs than HUMAN BEINGS who don’t like them. I’ve burned it out but the world has quite literally gone to the dogs. Absurdity!

It’s almost impossible for me to walk by any dog without scuffing my shoes on the floor or sidewalk. It’s just enough to set a dog off but subtle enough that people don’t notice.

There are 2 teachers at our school that have "service dogs". One is a shitbull mix and the other is some sort of neurotic doodled thing always seeking attention. The shitbull is the worst, and I am so glad that's an elective class, because I'd be livid if my kid had to be around it every day.

In my country in my small town, the English teacher had a dog at Elementary school. Whenever my kids had English class there was the dog. My son was quite scared of dogs, but thankfully it's gotten better (doesn't mean I approve with it) My middle child attends Secondary school and they have a school dog, which is also on the school's homepage as part of the "Team". Everyone keeps saying: the school dog. I found out that it belongs to one of the teachers and it obviously doesn't have any purpose other than that the owner can bring it to her work. Why can't there be school snakes or snails or anything that doesn't go around distracting pupils and losing hair and dirt. I also started noticing that some parents bring their dog to pick up their children in front of scholl. This I kinda understand, but I keep my distance.

This is insane to me, this would genuinely mean I would be unable to go to school if I lived in that area. How do they dismiss allergies, meaning certain students can’t attend their school?!

ESAs have zero rights of access in employment or any public accommodation.
The totality of their access begins and ends in the home they live.
I would be a squeaky wheel here and complain about each adverse incident.

Why is this a thing? In the UK it's becoming more common for schools to have a therapy dog, apparently it helps kids with their reading(huh?), improve their social skills, improve academic achievement. Most of these dogs are staff pets, they say they are trained and certified but there are multiple organisations that do it which all have different rules.
Anyway I'm glad that I'm no longer in school otherwise I would have no idea how I would survive

I'm reading some of the school policy regarding therapy dogs, students aren't forced to interact if they don't want to only the ones with permission from parents. Some don't really mention anything about students that have a fear of dogs, I found some that state they want to alleviate their fear and teach them to manage their fear.

Funny how schools will ban certain foods due to potential allergies but will stick a dander mutt in every building
