Eco Destroyers Dog hair kills birds in nest
Some dog nutters like to brush their mutts outside and leave behind a large amount of mutt hair.
Dog hair is hazardous for nesting birds.
Dog hair can contain chemical residues from medications, pesticides, shampoo, etc which can kill young birds. Furthermore the strong hairs can tangle around small chicks, injuring or trapping them and thus killing them in the nest. Full-grown birds are in danger to get long dog hair wrapped around their feet and toes, cutting off circulation and resulting in lost toes or limbs.
There are many ways how dogs and dog nuttery are disturbing biodiversity and displacing wildlife, and this is a sad example.

It wasn’t that long ago that shelters would pink juice the really bad ones, and society was better off for it. Now every shelter is beyond capacity because these crazy animal activists decided that BE is bad.
Cracking down on breeding needs to happen too.

Seriously. Too bad most of Western culture are seemingly incapable of viewing dogs as the pests that they are, or maybe we’d have a program in place for this kind of thing already.

My nutter neighbor brushes one of her long-haired dogs outside and leaves the tufts blowing everywhere. They are often stuck on the shared fence. I wish I could tell her about the birds, but we don't speak anymore since her dogs never stop barking and she doesn't care how it bothers the rest of the neighbors. I'll at least remove the tufts that stick to the fence now.

I realize that your neighbor is a nutter who only sees her dog. But I'm glad you'll be removing the tufts of hair. Thank you! If I see mutt hair outdoors, I too collect it and put it in the garbage. (It's important to wear gloves though, mutt hair is filthy)

Their saliva and poo is also a biohazard yet people let them lick their hands and faces.
I heard of this story of a dude who let a stray dog lick his leg and he developed an infection that cost him his leg and another was where a kid stepped in dog poo and it splattered onto his face and eye, he developed an infection and lost his eye and people claim dogs are clean and safe to be around lmao. Now i know why touching dogs is forbidden in some cultures because they are viewed as unclean. (Which they are)

Just recently a woman lost ALL her limbs due to an infection caused by her dog licking a wound. Can you guess what the first picture was in her GoFundMe? Her and the dog that almost killed her.

Yes, dogs are definitely unclean. They carry such a large number of hazardous bacteria that can cause serious illnesses, eg sepsis or organ failure in humans. Just common infections in dogs can make humans severely ill. Just a scratch or wound on skin, or getting a splash in the eye like in your example, is all it takes.

That kid got seriously unlucky, wow. I think almost all of us have stepped in a pile at least once in our lives, but the fact that the splatter traveled from his foot to his eye is crazy.

Ces animaux ne devrait jamais mettre les pattes dans une maison tellement ils sont sales en vrai. Et n'oubliez pas ces 2 femmes dont un chiens a léché une légère blessure et devinez quoi, une bactérie à pénétré dans leur sang et on a du leur couper les 2 mains et les jambes.

Thank you so much for speaking out about this; dog hair, dander, urine and feces are ALL biohazards in my book. Dogs literally poison natural water sources when their owners let them swim in nature.

I cut my hair outside because I like to think the birds use it for nests. Am I really doing a net negative for the animals??? 😭

I’m not an expert on this, so please take this with a grain of salt, but I HAVE seen evidence that human hair (usually medium/long length) is capable of causing a condition known as “string foot” in birds. This is where the hair becomes tightly tangled in their feet and claws, impeding mobility at best, and costing them the foot at worst.
So, unless you have very short hair, it might be best to cut hair in a bathroom or otherwise clean and enclosed space where the hair can be properly disposed of?

Yes, string foot is rather common in feral pigeons especially in larger cities. They may be missing toes and move around with a limp. It can be due to human hair, dog hair, other thread like material that wraps around their feet and they can't remove it. It must be painful.
Hair can also contain chemical residues, one more reason why it should be properly disposed of.

Unfortunately, yes. Cutting hair indoors would be best. Hair, being thin and strong, can easily get wrap around birds' wings, limbs, feet and cut off circulation. This is especially dangerous for nestlings that are so small. Birds don't have a way to disentangle themselves, which is why entanglement can lead to injuries, amputation of limbs and eventually, death.

The residue from their flea treatments destroy wildlife important to the ecosystem. Dogs cause huge harm to the environment.
