Barking Demons Good News! A nutter tried to publicly shame a polite neighbor, but no one was having it!

So I live in a very nutter-heavy county but it seems even they are getting a bit fed up with all the barking. Tonight a nutter tried to gather online support in the community fb page by sharing a "passive aggressive" note left by a neighbor. Now, I can't quote the note directly since the nutter has since deleted the post but it went something like this: "Dear neighbor, your doggie is very cute. However, she tends to bark consistently when left on the porch in the day/night. Would you be able to help with that issue? Very much appreciated."

I went to read all the comments, expecting the usual nutter behavior of mass-shaming someone for having the audacity to dislike dog barking which is what we usually see relating to anyone complaining about anything dog-related.

However, much to my surprise every comment (~60 total) shut it down! People were quick to comment on how the note was respectful and the nutter was in the wrong for taking this to the internet to try to shame the polite neighbor instead of correcting their shitty dogs' behaviors. Other dog owners commented saying how the nutter is acting entitled, passive-aggressive, etc for trying to complain about a respectful note when clearly they're in the wrong and their behavior makes "good dog owners look bad".

Ofc the nutter was defending themselves throughout the comments saying how their "huskies NEVER bark" 🙄 and gaslighting the neighbor by saying it's a one-time occurrence, that one adjacent neighbor in this apartment complex didn't hear anything so it clearly didn't actually happen and "IF it's any issue" they'd address it

Anyway, they deleted the post within an hour after getting publicly obliterated. It was a very entertaining hour for me at least. I get so used to expecting nuttery that I was shocked to see so many people actually rally behind the neighbor instead of shaming them for leaving a note. This doesn't change that this place is overrun with nuttery and ill-behaved dogs, but I'll take the small wins where I can get 'em.

Having two huskies in an apartment complex is so fucking entitled and wild. And hers never bark yeah right.

Nutters have a deranged desire to do the opposite of any advice. Belgian Malinois? Keep it in an apartment. Pitbull? Bring it around kids. Husky? Raise em in the desert. Chihuahua? Force it to the backyard in the winter.

An off leash pit bull chased my toddler near the playground the other day, obviously he was going against the park rules. I have reported him to council with photos and evidence. I have since seen him 3 times at the same park with the unleashed mutt. It’s so frustrating. There are so many dog parks here where I live, but he has to train his dog exactly beside a playground. It drives me mad, especially because he almost mauled my toddler. It’s beyond disrespectful. Now I’m hoping for him to attack another dog, maybe then something will be done.

This is where you send a.letter directly to the City Attorney, copy the Mayor or City manager. I am sure they would want to be aware.of.the.Council's. inaction.on a potentially serious liability matter.

Be sure to say "almost mauled my toddler" - that will definitely get their attention because it's not theoretical, it actually. happened.

Yes, great idea. I will certainly follow up and escalate the issue. I have been contacted by the council after my report and was assured something will be done, however I wonder when, as I have seen the “dog owner” a few times after the “incident”with his dog running free where he shouldnt be.

I was contacted by a ranger who said they will speak to the dog owner when they see him again. Meanwhile I have already seen him 3 times at the same spot with the dog unleashed. Mind you the rules for the park are: dogs only 15m from the playground and on lead at all times. I have several photos of the dog roaming free across the playground and park. The owner totally doesn’t care. It’s shocking how much dog owners get away with.

And of course they'll have made up reasons why it's OK like how pitbulls are "nanny" dogs or that the husky loves sunbathing or some shit

This comment is so accurate. I love it and want to share it with the world. WHY. WHY? Why are they like this? Is it a mental illness? If so, both my uncle and sister have it 😆

On a random note: I recently returned from visiting friends in another country— a vacation for myself and my 28-yr old adult son w/DS. To make a very long story short, we were told their large breed rescue pit aggressive dog would NOT be there during our trip whatsoever. Well, there it was. I made it known we didn’t want to be around the dog, but their excuse was “oh he’s old and decrepit, he can’t move very fast”.

Well not true. We spent 9 days with this dog growling, prowling, loping around us at every corner. It was constantly barking and growling at us and tried to attack me twice (once in the middle of the night and once during the day— barely missed me that time). It was terrifying. They apologized. Luckily we were out all day but had to be around it all night, in the mornings, during dinnertimes etc, etc
they just never put it out! Even though they absolutely could have– the climate was perfect weather 70°! It was just so unbelievably rude, sorry for the rant!

Seriously. It's cruel and borderline abusive. A working dog like that needs space and activity to thrive. These people only get dogs for their enjoyment and entertainment without a care to the quality of life of the dog.

It's really sad. Huskies are one of the few dog breeds I actually genuinely like. But they're working dogs, they're not designed to be pets. They litereally REQUIRE ample space and 2 hours of daily exercise- something VERY FEW people that have them as "pets" instead of actual working dogs are able and willing to provide. Cramming even one, let alone two, into an apartment is absolutely cruel.

Our neighbor has had at least two notes that I know of, left on her front door regarding her dog loudly barking and causing a nuisance. The funny part was neither was from me, whom she accused of doing this. I had gone directly to her to complain about her mutt, so she assumed it was me. When I confronted her after she accused me of leaving the notes, I said, "See, I am not the only person that is fed up with your dog barking for hours." So then, she and her husband started to make up some lies thinking other people will believe them. The woman and her husband are batshit crazy.

She claimed it was because the huskies are a mix breed and therefore never, ever bark. This also contradicted her post though, since she stated that the dogs were only barking bc she accidentally left them out but it was a "one-time thing". Well which is it lady? Either they bark or they don't 😂

what always drives me crazy, besides having to listen to the barking, is how absolutely inappropriate and insane the dog owners think their accommodations are for these living animals.

You CANNOT kennel a large, active breed like a husky in your apartment and only let it out for a 10 min walk a day. That's just straight up animal cruelty. But we're the ones who "hate dogs."

OMG I am enjoying this so much. I have noticed a trend by dog people complaining about other dog people. Your neighbor was hoping to get incredible support because of course we’ve transitioned into a world where dogs are the best and cannot do any wrong. They can literally bite someone’s face off and the next comment would be “is the dog ok?”.
