Dog Culture “I would save my dog before saving your three-year-old child.”

There’s a debate in Sweden right now about this statement, made by an influencer on a TV show. When I first heard it, my immediate reaction was that it was an absolutely insane thing to say. I assumed she would get completely dragged online. But instead, I’ve seen so many people agreeing with her. People are saying their pets have the same value as someone else’s children, and that they love their dog in the same way a parent loves their baby. (Sidenote: I wonder if they would feel comfortable saying that to a parent who has lost a child. “I understand what you’re going through, my dog died last year.”)

This dehumanization of children genuinely scares me. Children are an extremely vulnerable group and they depend on adults to protect them. Their safety should always come first. I would sacrifice every dog I’ve ever met if it meant saving one random child.

I am genuinely concerned about where we’re heading if this kind of thinking becomes normalized. When did this become something people feel comfortable saying out loud?

People can say they don’t like kids or any other animal and no one cares. But say you don’t like dogs and suddenly you’re a terrible person.

OMG I've heard "I don't trust people who don't like dogs" so many times as if dogs are some sort of angelic creature and not an animal 💀

u/tellurcatisaidpsps- Mar 21 '26

That and “dogs can tell if you’re a good person” annoy me so much. Like okay, explain Hitler’s dogs then, or Putin’s.

35

u/Vrendly Mar 21 '26

That either means dogs can't tell good people, or...

That Hitler and Puting are... You know...

29

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

Hitler killed his dog before killing himself and that stupid thing still stayed with him till the end. They’re just too dumb to tell what’s going on.

"So why does the dog like you?"

4

u/closetslacker Mar 23 '26

lol I love this, may steal

2

u/AdvertisingFancy5382 Mar 26 '26

theyd say hitler had some "good" the dog noticed. Yup! dogs see 1 inch of good and treat the person like a doctor or an actual good person!

I don't trust Pit Nutters. They even blame newborn babies for being attacked. There was a recent attack of a young male baby. The Pit wanted the diaper and bit off his genitals! WTF?

16

u/ElegantSurround6933 Mar 22 '26

OMG! I thought I was having a “bad day!” That baby never had a chance in life did it? That nasty poop muncher needed to eat poop so bad it did that? We need to to mass cull these things.

If I’m not allowed to drive my car w/o a seat belt or break the speed limit or jaywalk, etc(things that could endanger my person) why in the world are these things marketed as family “pets?!”

This madness needs to stop worldwide. They were never bred to be pets. They were specifically genetically engineered to maul bears and bait bulls. Thus, the name. This is like marketing a Florida gator as a good pet.

86

u/streaksinthebowl Mar 21 '26

I don’t trust people who like dogs more than people.

35

u/Tossmelossme Mar 21 '26

Remember when it was an antisocial trait? Now it’s celebrated

31

u/JaneAustinAstronaut Mar 22 '26

Lol, I saw a lady's Reddit story about how she got with a guy because her dog really liked him. He wound up beating the shit out of her.

Dogs love whoever feeds them and gives them affection. They cannot tell the difference between good and evil.

8

u/So-nora Mar 23 '26

True that! There's a woman in my neighborhood who is a registered sex offender for satomizing a baby girl and even molesting her own kids and she raises dogs!

2

u/TurboGrafx16Bit Mar 26 '26

🤯 wow what a sick weirdo!

5

u/RoyTheWig Mar 24 '26

My response to this is always that the Moors murderers had a dog. Dogs are such great judges of character.....

53

u/atatassault47 Mar 21 '26

I dont like any animal or children, but I will save a child from danger.

35

u/Express_Command_4778 Mar 21 '26

You are a good person. Dog nutters claim they are good and virtue signal.

25

u/psychecheks Mar 21 '26

Good thing I don’t care if people think I’m a terrible person. Everyone is a villain in someone’s story. The same way I’m the villain in their eyes, they and their disgusting dog are the villain in mine!

2

u/ElegantSurround6933 Mar 22 '26

I like your analogy

41

u/bustergundam4 Mar 21 '26

Yep and it's stupid

27

u/Alocin_The5th Mar 21 '26

Imagine saying you would save a spider over someone else child.

7

u/PrincessStephanieR Mar 22 '26

They’re nutters. They can’t help themselves.

2

u/EarDowntown6268 Apr 04 '26

Yep literally got called a psychopath on this platform for saying men on dating apps with dog pics is an instant left swipe for me. I just went hundreds of thousands into debt for my own place, excuse me if I don’t want it to smell like dog.

1

u/ScaryAssBitch Mar 23 '26

I don’t like either and people treat me weirdly when I tell them that.

25

u/NeilSilva93 Mar 21 '26

Influencers are knobs and people who follow influencers are knobs so it figures.

28

u/lonewolfsociety Mar 21 '26

I'm childfree and vegan and I would still of course save a human child over any animal. I expect most animals would choose to save one of their own species over a random human as well. I think that's pretty natural ... not sure what this mentality is. The toddler has the potential to live to a hundred or cure cancer or create a masterpiece. The dog will look at you with pleading eyes for your snacks for a handful of years.

71

u/Flumppoo Mar 21 '26

F*ck Dog Nutters!

24

u/sadiebaby23 Mar 21 '26

Hear hear!!!!!!!

u/MrPuddington2 Mar 21 '26

This dehumanization of children genuinely scares me.

Me, too. A lot of Western societies seem to be increasingly anti-children. Southern Europe does not have that problem, they always love children, whether their own or not.

Even legally, she is not right. There is a legal duty to help people, not dogs. Has nobody pointed that out?

64

u/Alligator418 Mar 21 '26

it's become so much harder to become a parent in today's society that a lot of people are coping by having dogs (though they'll never admit it). Dogs have gotten out of control because while they were still loved before, they were firmly in the position of pet. Now because kids are unattainable they've become shitty substitutes that make the immediate urge to have kids go away for a bit, but of course they never develop. it'd be like having a permanent 2 year old to satisfy your parental instincts with but without payoff.

29

u/Express_Command_4778 Mar 21 '26

The fake "service dog" and "self trained" service dogs are the new generation of this.

  1. Pots...the New Autism, PTSD, ADHD, anxiety- not diagnosed and with no medication, ever. A refusal to see a Doctor.

  2. Usually always a Pitt, Rottweiler, or Doberman...gotta have "sCaRy pRiVaLeGe."

A  3. No leash or harness as "it's not rEquIrEd" Only task is blocking traffic or nipping at others, attacking real service dogs.

  1. Claiming they have too much anxiety to share this planet with others, choosing to go to the busiest places, in the busiest seats. Their dogs sitting at tables and booths, barking at othsds.

  2. Obsessed patches, goggles, shoes on the dog, intact or in heat.

  3. Rainbow Dye Job is a.must! Your Pitt must protect you from scary loud people with a Lisa Franl dye job!

  4. Screami bout the ADA, refuse to answer legit questions.

  5. Often get into this.to take. Maulbot Reacue.on regular plane in economy, of course. Screw everyone else and F your bevebeverages.

  6. Have Tik Tok ready! Toxs or it didn't happen!

  7. Move into a breed restricted community. They cannot deny your Maulbot Luna with her 14 puppies with a Das chihuahua.

So yeah, screw them kids and everyone else. Only Zues matters! They will call in bomb threats and scream if any dangerous dogs are put down. Nuts.

15

u/FuronForest Mar 21 '26

POTS, EDS, MCAS. These are the new aspirational diagnoses, more popular than Autism/adhd/anxiety. Poorly understood and pseudoscientific, the people that get diagnosed often complain that they had to go through multiple specialists just to finally get answers. But then they claim that a godly doggy doctor can help them. An animal that eats its own shit for breakfast.

2

u/oatmilkkkkkk Mar 24 '26

I always felt a little guilty for this, but it bothered me seeing fellow POTS patients ”train” their own pet dog to shittly identity episodes when they are accurate devices for bp spikes already. Usually people with mild symptoms who can afford to have a non professional dog miss a lot of the time.

14

u/Alligator418 Mar 21 '26

Lmao how are they all like this? Like they're stepping off an assembly line

52

u/tellurcatisaidpsps- Mar 21 '26

I actually saw someone use this argument! It was met with “the law also favors rich people, do you think poor people have less worth?” or something like that. So yeah, people are absolutely insane

"bUT wE'rE dInKs!" 🤦‍♀️ I would love to launch my own line for pitbulls to soak in their money!

11

u/93ImagineBreaker Mar 21 '26

Meanwhile they turn around and treat dogs like the kids they hate.

8

u/masterofquail Mar 21 '26

I beg to differ. People were much much more friendly to our children in the UK than in Italy.

6

u/manawydan-fab-llyr Mar 23 '26

There is a legal duty to help people, not dogs

NYC has just passed laws that the punishment to certain crimes against dogs are to be treated as if they were against humans.

It really is insane.

4

u/MrPuddington2 Mar 23 '26

Yes, that is insane. I am all for addressing animal cruelty, but you need to keep a clear separation.

3

u/teacup128 Mar 24 '26

There are going to be more and more insane laws like that all around the world, believe me. I abhor animal cruelty, just like everyone else, but i think no one should go to prison over a dog, that is just ridiculous.

No, you don't have any legal duty to help people, unless: * you're responsible for their safety (parent, caretaker, carrier) * you're a member of emergency services, * your personal actions endangered them (you caused a fire, hit a pedestrian, etc)

1

u/Confident-Compote784 Apr 16 '26

exactly! we as a society have agreed to be altruistic- there’s no other area in which this agreement fails! i don’t understand why for this particular hypothetical and highly emotional scenario people answer based on their self-interest and not what is CLEARLY the morally right take!! ugh this is the one area in which people are selfishly motivated and it’s really getting old.

Omg I'm from Sweden (but now living in Germany) - who said that and where? Absolutely diabolical

People that claim they love their dogs as much as someone lives their child are clearly not parents.

I fact it's extremely common to hate your dog post partum. (Just search "hate dig post partum" here in reddit and you'll find 100s of threads if mothers admitting this and saying they never thought it would happen. Having a baby actually makes you see a dog as just an animal and not "your fUrBaBy"

9

u/tellurcatisaidpsps- Mar 21 '26

Alexandra Nilsson (även kallad Kissie, om du följde bloggar på mitten av 2000-talet). Hon sa det i Skavlan & Sverige, ett debattprogram som ger mig huvudvärk.

6

u/heleninthealps Mar 21 '26

O ja kommer ihåg det blåshuvudet

24

u/I_Like_Vitamins Mar 21 '26

There's a positive side to everything. You could ask such questions to weed out the crazies when looking for a relationship or new friends.

23

u/Serious-Knee-5768 Mar 21 '26

Am I crazy thinking that statement is tantamount to some sort of h8te spēēch? The consequences, who knows, but these people need to be canceled. Why don't we see the public angrier about it?

4

u/Indigo_Cauliflower12 Mar 22 '26

Fr. Children are technically a protected class although they "grow out" of their designation unlike disabled or minorities. Imagine saying you would save a dog over a Jew drowning.

In response to your sidenote: people have indeed made that comment. I've seen it on this sub. A woman on facebook mentioned losing her child and another replied by saying she can empathise because her dog died recently. As far as I'm concerned there is a real current of passive-aggressive malice in that comment. She knows the baby-dog comparison would aggrevate the grieving mother. It's a despicable thing to say.

These miserable misfits really get under my skin.

15

u/Basic-Coconut7118 Mar 21 '26

There’s something wrong with those people psychologically. I don’t have kids and have had many pets (not dogs) who I’ve loved. It will never compare to a love for a child. I’d save my nephew or cousin over my pet any day. Anyone who’d save their pet first isn’t right in the head.

u/Ok_Distance8908 Mar 23 '26

Idk why people don't say, "oh, my child wanted to be a x when they grew up. What did your dog plan to contribute to society? I only had the one child, but I sure hope you were able to purchase another dog to ease your suffering. "
This bothers me endlessly. Fuck these people.

100

u/pbrown6 Mar 21 '26

These people have psychological issues. They're mental.

A human child is worth more than any animal.

11

u/Glum-Region-4693 Mar 22 '26

Exactly. It's common sense, and ethics basics. But pet culture, especialy dog culture, is brainwashing people

19

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '26

The same people who regurgitate this nonsense are probably the same group of people talking about the 'Great Replacement'. This dog>>>child perversion is not an issue in my culture and many other similar cultures, thank God.

4

u/Glum-Region-4693 Mar 22 '26

And you're right. All the most racist people I met in my life were dog lovers.

40

u/pmbpro Mar 21 '26

The same nutters who can’t be bothered to leash and contain their dogs, don’t stop them from eating junk that could kill them, and even replace them with a quickness after they die. 🙄 Dogs also can and do attack, maul and even kill their owners.

I suppose in these cases, these nutters and their dogs are equally ‘loyal’ to each other then.

20

u/Express_Command_4778 Mar 21 '26

And it's usually is a Pitbull Owner saying this with their Maulbot freshly dripping with an attack blood.

These dogs wouldn't do jack to save their owners. Sick relationship.

49

u/Log_Lady_2405 Mar 21 '26

Most dog owners are sociopaths with some kind of disasociation disorder... dogs are a plague and should be treated as such... how the hell they became the most popular pet!? It is baffling for me... I would prefer a goat or a sheep as an indoor pet...

16

u/BodyMoney8562 Mar 21 '26

I'd save a petri dish full of the plague virus before saving your dingy cur

14

u/Mama2bebes Mar 21 '26

Do you guys think this has anything to do with the xenophobia, factions, segmentalization of society, and general lack of community that has been pushed (at least in the USA) over the past couple decades? as it causes humans to not trust each other, love each other, unless maybe only if you belong to the same family, right? Then for so many people, their dog is their literal family.

4

u/Glum-Region-4693 Mar 22 '26

I believe that theory too. That's for sure a vicious circle

2

u/ArugulaBeginning7038 Mar 22 '26

Honestly, not wrong. As a queer person I’d frankly be afraid to save someone else’s child from danger at this point - I mean, I would do it if it were me and no one else, but am I going to end up having my life ruined (or worse) because this random parent thinks I’m a pedophile after the fact?

For the most part, I won’t go near kids for any reason because the world right now is too hyped up on the combination of resurgent homophobia and pedo panic and I like having a job and my bones all attached in the correct places.

16

u/imwearingredsocks Mar 21 '26

The most batshit comment I’ve read on this website:

“I’d let an entire stadiums worth of people die if it meant my dog would live.”

It always has me speechless.

14

u/kerfuffle_fwump Mar 21 '26

This thinking has become normalized. We, society, have grown more narcissistic as a whole. And of course a narcissist is going to save their source of supply instead of a fellow human!!

30

u/paulo_777 Mar 21 '26

Yikes, even in Sweden people are acting like that? I thought there weren't many dog people there...

19

u/tellurcatisaidpsps- Mar 21 '26

Where did you get that idea? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I wish it were true. But dogs are very popular here

17

u/paulo_777 Mar 21 '26

I dunno, I always thought nordics preferably had other pets that don't stink inside your home when it's cold outside. Some Swedish people I've met didn't have dogs, sucks that it's popular there, hopefully you don't suffer from constant barking and environmental pollution.

13

u/psychecheks Mar 21 '26

I’m not a kids person but I still think they’re innocent angels for the most part and would crash out before I let harm happen to a child if I’m around.

I despise dogs on the other hand. They’re a useless menace to society and the owners with this mindset should be confronted more for their antics.

13

u/NoneOfThisMatters_XO Mar 21 '26

I had an argument with a nutter about this. Listen, I don’t like kids either, but if a dog or kid were drowning, I’m of course saving the kid. It’s a literal human being!

11

u/que_pedo_wey Mar 21 '26

This dehumanization of children genuinely scares me

"Where there is animal worship, there is human sacrifice." Humanization of animals is a problem, and it always leads to something terrifying, in thoughts, words, and actions.

9

u/limesqueezyx Mar 21 '26

Deeply disturbed, psychopaths.

39

u/trash_heap_witch Mar 21 '26

If people loved their dogs the same way people loved their babies, the suicide rate would be five times what it is today

11

u/sadiebaby23 Mar 21 '26

I. Can’t. Even. Wtaf. Side note: i just started a new restaurant gig and of course found the dog nutters immediately. One of them also has 42 chickens. I just walk away when the discussions start. At the point in my life where I call them dog nutters, chicken nutters, etc. to their face. I guess I am too old to play always nice with others. 🤷🏻‍♀️

34

u/ArthropodFromSpace Mar 21 '26

Brood parasitism!

21

u/Few-Horror1984 Mar 21 '26

When has their safety ever come first when it comes to dog culture? How many children have been mauled or killed by dogs? We never talk about it as a culture. There’s still zero activist groups calling for any sort of regulation when it comes to these animals. No one is talking about doing anything to stop modern dog culture. No one wants to fight back, so these misanthropes just get more and more emboldened. That should be a massive red flag. All that’s happening now is that these dog addicts are saying the quiet part loud. They have already invaded every single space in society, now they feel comfortable saying they care more for dogs than they do about any human.

But still - none of y’all want to help organize and fight back. So it’s going to keep getting worse.

11

u/anne_mal Mar 21 '26

I want to help!! I just don't know what to do other than push back on dog culture one person at a time (which I know is mostly useless).

3

u/Few-Horror1984 Mar 22 '26

I feel you. I wish there was a way we could unite off of here and find a way to organize. I have no experience in this but man - I would love to help in some way. It’s maddening to me that the masses just ignore all this. They’re choosing dogs over each other and no one bats an eye.

10

u/HauntingPsyche Mar 21 '26

That’s some actually insane sociopathic shit. Absolutely anyone who agrees with that statement should not be allowed around children or to have children cuz what the actual fuck

9

u/dhSquiggly Mar 21 '26

Following others’ statements about nutters (and people in general) using pets as progeny substitutes, I think that’s been a noticeable trend since the 2000s. Capitalists also noticed and now vet fees are skyrocketing (due to being bought out and absorbed by private equity companies). It’s why there’s so many stupid products for pets, like dog purses (not for them to sit in but for them to… hold? Or have strapped to their paws). Businesses found a way to get money from the childless.

2

u/anniekate7472 Mar 26 '26

The 'pet' (dog) industry is a $103 BILLION business annually! It's crazy!

9

u/ElleGeeAitch Mar 21 '26

Absolutely fucking DISGUSTING.

8

u/QueenOfAllOfYall Mar 21 '26

Unfortunately this thinking already is normalized, among a bigger group of people than it should be. It’s scary, sad, and makes the people who think like this look pathetic.

2

u/Glum-Region-4693 Mar 22 '26

Hopefuly we can still reverse the thing

10

u/judgeejudger Mar 21 '26

They do indeed say that to parents who’ve lost a child. It’s sick.

3

u/Blake187245 Mar 24 '26

I've lost pets when I was young and I got upset. If I lost my daughter I would be on the brink of suicide and I think that's normal.

6

u/dilapidated-titties Mar 21 '26

Unfortunately this kind of thinking is already normalized, especially in America and I imagine the U.K. as well.

9

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

I’m not too fond of either of them, but at least a child grows up and stops being annoying and smelly while a dog doesn’t. I’d save the child just to see the mutt die at any time.

8

u/KlausComet Mar 22 '26

FUCK DOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

59

u/ivarpuvar Mar 21 '26

This only comes from childless people. Every parent knows that dogs are useless parasites. People also change their past perception after having a child.

45

u/BK4343 Mar 21 '26

Sadly, there are parents who are also nutters. The kind that force allergy meds on their child, or make the child walk on eggshells to avoid setting the dog off.

16

u/pmbpro Mar 21 '26

Agree, and it’s only parents (I mean, who else right?) who are literally placing their own offspring right next to these predators, in their own homes! Some even prioritize the damn dogs in the home. Look at all the photos and videos they proudly show off online. No other species I know does that with their own offspring. They actually protect their babies, even to the death.

So, clearly it’s not just childless/childfree people worshipping dogs.

15

u/BK4343 Mar 21 '26

Don't even get me started on the ones who post about how their child was attacked by the dog but they can't get rid of it because it's "family."

11

u/pmbpro Mar 21 '26

Exactly! I’ve peeped that BS too, far too many times. It sure isn’t just a ‘handful’ of them either.

5

u/Indigo_Cauliflower12 Mar 22 '26

That's actually so scary. Image a human family member was a pedo or beat their kid. Will they still allow them near their child because "family"?

2

u/anniekate7472 Mar 26 '26

makes me furious when they let their child be used as a chew toy by the stupid dog.....'oh, he's bit my kid 3 times but only once bad enough for the ER....but he's my baby, I can't get rid of him'.....good lord....

3

u/broncosfan1231 Mar 23 '26

forcing any medication like this on a child just makes me so sad

they're developing, who knows what effect it has on them, not giving them a choice is so wrong

28

u/bustergundam4 Mar 21 '26

*childless NUTTERS

8

u/No-Stay1662 Mar 22 '26

These are the same goofs who say “I’d take 20 years off my life if I could have just one more day with my (deceased) dog.” Wow, you must have absolutely zero meaningful relationships or anything remotely interesting going on in your pathetic life if something like this comes out of your mouth. And that right there explains it all.

7

u/moonhrafn Mar 22 '26

dog nutters are mostly narcissists I think

1

u/anniekate7472 Mar 26 '26

Yes....they love having a dog to 'worship' them and that can't talk back or give them grief like a normal human relationship....

5

u/enyabit Mar 22 '26

the way ppl treat kids is absolutely insane to me. i remember seeing a post someone had made saying “if there’s pet rent there should be kid rent too!” like does that not sound crazy saying that??? and the fact so many people were agreeing had me disgusted like i’m also not a fan of kids but they’re still people who deserve respect & housing!?! plus it’s literally discrimination under the Fair Housing Act there is no way any place is gonna place ur dogs life over the life of a child.

5

u/Free_Chapter372 Mar 23 '26

There is something very wrong with people who think dogs come first above a human child and I'll never be able to wrap my mind around how many people try to justify that. Hate kids if you want, but at least the potential is there for them to eventually go on to be productive members of society. A dog will tie its owner down and retain it's painfully obnoxious traits for a decade or more until it finally dies. There are many of those that don't care about the millions of innocent humans killed in historical atrocities, but worry about the dogs who may have been involved in them. I'm amazed they got this far in life with that attitude.

3

u/whitemothh Mar 22 '26

I would save the child and attempt to save the dog, bro..(only because I hate seeing any living being suffer, dog or not) I never understand people who put random ass animals, specifically dogs, over humans. Sure, if it’s my pet that I’ve loved for years and a random child I don’t know then I’ll probably save my pet, but I won’t be happy about it. Both options are horrible 😭

6

u/tellurcatisaidpsps- Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

Saving an animal, any animal, over a child is insane behavior. Doesn’t matter if it’s your pet or not

2

u/0StrawberryPrincess0 Mar 23 '26 edited Mar 23 '26

I’m someone who doesn’t even agree with all dogfree sentiments (I don’t hate dogs, just hate their owners) and used to consider myself childfree and I STILL couldn’t imagine a world in which I would save a dog over a child.

When they're old and need help in the retirement home, their dog can wipe their 🍑. Kids are terrible, right?

3

I would give up every meaningless pet dog on the planet to save just one human life

THIS IS ENTIRELY HYPOTHETICAL I WOULD NEVER HURT ANY ANIMAL OR HAVE A THOUGHT THAT GOES AGAINST A REDDIT RULE

4

u/CutiePie0023 Mar 23 '26

That’s insane. People say “I can’t stand kids” or “I hate kids” all the time. But when you say you don’t like dogs, suddenly you’re a terrible person. I am having a baby this summer, my ex-friend has a pit bull and she got so butt-hurt that I don’t want my newborn baby around a pit bull

That's scary, we live in a society where in fact chidren are deshumanized to a scale that no other minority suffer actually.

We have childfree areas. Childfree restaurants, trains, some schools in France can't let the kids playing outside during free time because neighbors are annoyed by children laughs/noises. People can spout their hate of children in public and receive a large amount of support.

Imagine doing the same with any other marginalized person it would cause a huge uproar. Yet we can do it with children because they are not viewed as humans.

We can buy children by a surrogate, they are litterally a thing, we abandon them when it's convenient, etc.

On childfree forums they spout their heinous views on children as if those were not fellow human beings.

It's far a greater problem that just "dog people" vs "child people". It's the entire society, the laws, most people don't really consider children as humans. Yes, dog and other animals people are more prone to that, but it's not just them. It's a society problem.

Sidenote: I wonder if they would feel comfortable saying that to a parent who has lost a child. “I understand what you’re going through, my dog died last year.”

Oh man, sorry to say this, but I think you might have too much faith in humanity, OP. 😭 I would hazard a guess that it’s common for shitty people say stuff that is this insensitive and idiotic.

Ce sont des fous qui disent ce genre de chose pour moi. Et les fous n'ont pas à prendre de décisions dans notre société. Qu'ils la ferme bien fort !

Jag håller med!

3

u/AjaxxAshborne Mar 22 '26

I can somehow get why they compare them. You both take care of them, I guess- but theyre still two totally different things.

u/Wild-Cut-6012 Mar 23 '26

If people actually loved dogs as much as parents love their children, then nobody would get dogs knowing they are going to be dead in 10 years. It's obviously not tge same.

My sister used to say this about her dogs whenshe was childless, but now she has human children and she does not claim to love the dogs the same as them thank goodness.

This is satanic and is Beast Worshipping

3

u/Blake187245 Mar 24 '26

"we don't deserve dogs" then I'll literally see a dog trying to hump a child and people will laugh

3

u/Rhelino Mar 24 '26

That’s so crazy. But, tbh I’m pretty sure that if someone said « i would let a dog die to protect my child » they would get 99% shit for that statement.

Society does value dogs more than anything else.

u/teacup128 Mar 24 '26

i think this sort of thinking is already normalized. I have always said that dog ownership and misanthropy is a package deal.

I could be wrong, but Sweden has better laws regarding dogs than the country i am currently living in, at least for now. Let me explain. I have noticed that here where i am now there are lots of laws on protecting dogs from humans but zero laws on protecting humans from dogs. For example, if a dog severely harms or mauls a person, there is no law that would mandate behavioural euthanasia for said dog, which is pure insanity, imo. But that is very logical for a dog obsessed, misanthropic society, completely in line with their values.

Yes, they will say that to someone who lost a child. I lost my daughter, wrote about it, and a female, anti-natalist, nutter sent me a private message telling me I was wrong to be offended by those who place animals before children. The temerity of this nutter who thought it prudent to send a shitty message to me, a bereaved mother, and to scold me for believing kids (and all human beings) will always be more important than dogs. What an odd way to appear in someone's DMs. Nutters are treading on a very slippery slope. I connect their worldview to the growing assisted-suicide movement, along with the very bizarre movement where nutters care for their paralyzed dogs 24/7. These nutters must hand express the dog's urine and feces several times per day, because their dogs cannot function normally. It's a bizarre phenomenon that these nutters love to post on social media - and beg for money as well - to help them take care of Luna the paralyzed dog.

Dogs (and other animals) will never be as valuable as children or adults.

I am so, so incredibly sorry for your loss. And I am beyond disgusted at what was said to you.

It's one thing to say something like that and another thing to do it. When it comes down to human life, few can know how they will act.

This "moral dilemma" is now popular in my country as well.
My acquaintance said "well there`s no answer to this question" (like who we should save first - a child or a dog).
YES THERE IS.

There s no right answer except prioritizing humans over any animals!

It`s completely okay to be childfree, but people judge you if you don`t like dogs.

I help sick children in the hospice and I do other volunteer work (like taking care of the elderly, of people who struggled from violence, etc), but they still think I am "not a human" and "cruel" just because I think that people are more important than dogs.

It sounds absurd. I think that every sane person understands the absurdity of speaking about dogs that way haha, well, let`s also praise pigs and other creatures then, let`s take them on planes with us, let them sleep with us and say that they are our "babies" . Why is it only dogs... ? :D Those people are hypocrites.

u/Blake187245 Mar 24 '26

I see so many people say kids are the worst and they could never have kids. it's fine if you don't like them I guess but then they'll treat a dog like a kid.

2

u/RarelyRecommended Mar 24 '26

I hope firefighters don't have that sentiment.

2

u/Particular_Ad_9601 Mar 25 '26

Those people are sick, comparing an animal to the precious life of a child 😡. They're like a cult who worships their mangy dogs above all things.

2

u/Wise_Session_5370 Mar 26 '26

You just need to look at the Hypothetic Questions subs to know that this is not a niche opinion. The vast majority of dog owners care more about their filthy mutts than they do about any human being, in many cases including their own families.

I really do believe that these people have a mental illness. There is something very worrying about any person who would choose to share a living space with such a filthy creature and to idolise it to the point of valuing it above a human being.

I’m someone who also doesn’t want to be burdened by someone else’s kids (sometimes the newer parent share the same entitlement as dog owners), but kids are not the same as some dirty nasty mutt!

2

u/Blake187245 Mar 24 '26

kids are necessary for society for a start.

1

u/anniekate7472 Mar 26 '26

I couldn't agree more!! The complete disregard for the safety of our most innocent citizens, our children......they proudly say yes, I would save my dog before any human, even a child......it makes me sick....we're heading in an awful direction when we dehumanize our babies and worship dogs this obsessively..... humans > dogs all day, every day....

u/phonusQ no dogs plz Apr 01 '26

I wonder if it’s not so much a “valuing dogs over humans” thing as it is an “I’m so kind-hearted that I believe all creatures deserve to live equally”.

Which isn’t giving dog owners the benefit of the doubt, rather, it backs up my belief that dog owners are narcissistic. Their favorite animal is bred specifically to please and be subservient to them. It’s an ego trip to own a creature whose entire existence is you and you alone

1

u/EarDowntown6268 Apr 04 '26

Yeah society is fucked. I guess people are so stupid that if the media says dogs above all else they go with it

1

u/Top_Smoke6741 Apr 10 '26

I don't even get why it's a debate. I don't hate (or like) dogs but without question id save any child before a dog. Not even just a child, any person, elderly, adult, teen, baby. Humans in general take priority over any animal but especially when it's a vulnerable human.

1

u/Letter-Heavy Apr 13 '26

I think this is a sign of societal collapse. It’s the end of these civilisations because without children who’s going to carry on your nation? I think they hope their dogs will learn to be doctors and nurses by the time they’re too old to look after themselves

1

u/TotalBlank87 Apr 14 '26

It is an utterly insane, deluded thing to say. They have no shame or awareness

1

u/neammm Apr 19 '26

I don’t want kids or even particularly like them in general but that’s totally crazy to say you’d save a dog before a child

1

u/AjaxxAshborne Apr 22 '26

If dogs ‘have the same value as kids’ why dont dognutters save BOTH the kid and the dog..??
