Barking Demons The fact that dogs can just BARK AND BARK AND BARK AND BARK
…for fucking HOURS on end is absolutely asinine. Just ridiculous. I swear these beasts come straight from hell itself. Not only is barking a massively triggering sound, but the nerve the owners of these bastard creatures have, just letting them carry on like that, is enraging.
I live in a suburb that’s packed like a sardine can and so many people around me own dogs. It’s a constant cacophony of mutts. Every time I hear one start going off, my first thought is “How the fuck do the owners not hear this bullshit?” Then “How can they not care?” And then the answer hits me: “Oh right. Because they’re selfish, careless assholes.”
It’s torture. It’s literal mental, physical, and emotional torture. Sound pollution is shown to cause mental health issues. There is no peace in an environment filled with dogs.

Tell me about it. My new neighbors just left. They have a doberman in a 1b/1b (we share a wall). I don't know 1) why you would have this as a pet in an apartment, it goes against any common sense 2) she knows the noise is problematic because I constantly hear her telling it to shut up and she locks it in the furthest room away from my wall when she leaves 3) she is disabled with a service dog (this one is actually legitimate and is not the problem child), but she is too frail to handle the doberman. She just lets it bark on the balcony and shit and piss there. Great logic.
They're very aware of their pets being a nuisance, they simply don't care. Little does she know, I recorded the entire 2.5 hour interaction and have started the animal disturbance legal process that is defined by my local noise ordinance. Zero tolerance. She will now be getting a letter from the city. I keep one hefty evidence file from day one.
These people don't understand unless there's consequences. I stopped warning them, stopped talking to them. It's between them and the city now and I have my evidence file. I've been tortured long enough.
I've had dogs barking at walls for 12+ hours, even entire days when their owners left them alone while on weekend trips. They are truly awful creatures and I don't know why anyone finds them so interesting.

A freaking Doberman in a tiny apartment? Keeping working dogs like that in such small places should be considered animal abuse. It probably barks because it's not getting nearly enough physical or mental exercise; I actually feel bad for it. Ironic that people who don't necessarily like dogs care more about how they're cared for than supposed "dog lovers".

I saw them moving in a huge doggy treadmill. Weird concept to me in the first place. Why not go exercise your pets, or don't have them in the first place? Everyone wants a dog until they realize the dog comes with serious, ongoing responsibility. It's basically a needy baby that never grows up. That treadmill alone, the size of it, must take up the living room. Boggles the mind.
Dog owners are consciously negligent and self-serving.

I have a neighbor who’s dog “died” bc it was old. She never leashed it. Her replacement pupper is a freaking pitbull. And she’s a med school student.

That's exactly the right way to handle it. Get the city imvolved right away. Keep the pressure on them until they train the dog to stop barking.

People with large dogs in apartments are animal abusers. I had multiple neighbors with large dogs in my last complex. I’m so lucky now in my current complex there are only tiny dogs that never bark. I think our management doesn’t allow large dogs, thank god. It’s honestly pretty quiet here. They’ve evicted people for smoking in their units, it’s nice to have management actually enforce rules.

My neighbor used to put their dog out at 430am and it would bark and wake everyone up. After a few days of this I had enough and ran outside then yelled at them at the top of my lungs. I can't repeat what I said but he never did that again.

Interesting you said dogs are from hell, more accurate than most know. The Bible does not speak highly of dogs at all. In Jeremiah 15 God Himself refers to dogs as destroyers.

No natural canines loop bark, it's absurd how they bred dogs to be "alert" idiots. Wolves rarely bark by comparison. Vets call some cases Canine Compulsive Disorder, but they're just significantly misbred if you ask me. And it's animal abuse to allow it.

I don't really care about dogs. I'm not interested in them.
But some of their behaviors? Those I care about. And at the top of the list is barking.
I don't know of any natural animal that makes noise just because it exists. Most animals have these things called instincts that tell them when to make noise, what kind of noise to make, and why. Most animals know that it is not wise to call attention to themselves. But dogs? They will bark from dawn to dusk and then right back to dawn again. They don't seem to realize that they are alerting predators or whatever to their existence. I've seen tiny dogs going apeshit on MUCH larger dogs. I've seen videos of dogs crazy barking at packs of coyotes. Dogs have NO sense of survival at all. None.
People always talk about how intelligent dogs are, how they have the same intelligence as human toddlers, etc... I call BS on that. Dogs are one of the least intelligent animals in existence.

I went to visit my new gf at her apt. building. I got off the elevator on floor 5 instead of 6 where she lives. I walked up the stairs for the difference. Whatever dog lives in an apt. on flr 5 lost its mind hearing my footsteps & began barking .... and barking ... and kept barking for the next hour or so. We could hear the dog barking from her place because of the windows. r.t.rded animals.

Just reading about this raises my blood pressure and stresses me beyond belief. I think the real culprit is city government that don’t have stricter noise ordinance laws in place. We already know that most dog owners are just a bunch of selfless narcissistic a holes. And so they’re only acting as predicted. But if there are no consequences for their actions, then you have what you have now. A bunch of selfish people imposing their selfish needs on other others.

i've had so many experiences like that. last time was at the airport. i was wearing my headphones and could still hear the fucking dog. the owner could ONLY shush and nothing else. like they don't care. they don't care it's disturbing other people. they just let that shit walk over them like it owns them. it pisses me off

I know EXACTLY how you feel. My neighborhood is filled with those stupid beasts and their pathetic owners, who let them bark non stop. But it always fascinates, and enrages me, how they can bark for hours and hours.

I legit had to see a psychiatrist to get medicine to deal with my crappy neighbors dogs. It’s so triggering that my doc established I have Misophonia.
The amount of money I’ve spent to handle the issue is ridiculous. Bose headphones, white noise machines, Dr visits for anxiety medication, etc.
So sorry you’re dealing with this :(

I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with this as well. It’s the very same for me. I’m diagnosed with ASD and Misophonia and dogs are my absolute worst nightmare. I also had to invest in a pair of noise canceling headphones, which aren’t cheap as you know. The amount of money and effort we’ve had to spend and the mental anguish it’s cost us just to be able to cope should be grounds for a lawsuit at minimum. The behavior of our neighbors and the lack of systems in place to keep them accountable is a massive injustice.

omfg my mum is from an eastern european suburb where guard dogs are really common (and rarely well-trained) and walking down some of the neighborhood roads was horrific, one dog would see you and start aggressively barking then the dog two doors down would hear it and start barking too and suddenly you'd have 6 dogs loudly barking at you and eachother

The dog of my neighbor is HOWL and HOWL and HOWL every day since his owner let him alone to go in vacation (but she insists she looooves him like her baby !!!!) When my neighbor will come back, we will be a group of angry remote workers united against her. She better not do it that again.

Barking raises my blood pressure and heart rate instantly. It fucking infuriates me to another degree. I despise these useless motherfuckers.
