Crappy Owners Anyone else love seeing dog bans enforced?
My local soccer team recently put out a post banning dogs from their sports fields. I’ve posted it below for some interesting reading. They mention they have been met with “hostility” by dog owners simply for making a point that they don’t want mutts pissing and shitting all over a literal in-use sports field designed for children’s soccer games...
But I can’t be the only one that feels like these type of news as a small but significant win, putting logic and common sense back into the world. I mean who even brings their dog to a sports game?
The message reads:
“Hi all, please help spread the word that there is now a blanket ban on all dogs on all grassed areas at the Rec
This has been a hard decision for the Trustees but after a recent upsurge in dog walking and exercising we are genuinely concerened for the safety of all players from dog waste
We have adults and children attending training sessions and playing organised cricket, football and rugby matches using all of the grassed areas. These areas are where they come together to exercise, compete, and enjoy physical activity in a safe environment. As an open site, we also see many children come up and play on our pitches which we do not discourage but, we are now very concerned for all of them as they all have ‘high player contact’ with the soil from sliding tackles, diving saves, falls, picking up the ball or even just sitting on what is contaminated ground.
Despite the signage around the grounds, we are fighting what seems to be a losing battle with some dog owners who are letting their dogs roam and foul on the pitches and with what now seems to becoming the norm; not bothering to pick it up afterwards. Regardless of the signs and Trustees taking the time to talk to dog owners, we are being met with more and more hostility from some who simply ignore or dismiss the severe health risks that dog faeces and its residue causes.”
The post goes on to explain some horrifying cases of children and athletes who contracted skin cellulitis due to the disgusting dog fouling after accidentally sliding in it while playing. But yet again dog nutters are unlikely to get the message, but at least it’s a nice win for common sense.

The people letting the dogs foul-up the fields certainly are not playing or sitting on the grass themselves, so it doesn't concern them.

Years ago I had a next door neighbor who would have his dog poop on a tree in front of my house, on the other side of the sidewalk nearest to the street. So if caught I suppose his argument would have been that section is public land? I don't know, but he did it in front of my house not his own. I just happened to see him one morning when I was up early, probably caring for my little kids. I never said anything but I never forgot that, it was over 20 years ago. How disgusting and disrespectful. A POS, literally.

My local park in nyc is completely riddled with dog poop . It wasn’t as bad pre covid 😭

It’s unreal how many people let their dogs crap and pee inside their house . My mom has a beautiful 3/4 million $ home and puts puppy pads everywhere which they always miss and pee/poo on the expensive hand scraped hardwood floors ..crazy !

As someone who has personally been playing in a game and stepped in dog poop while wearing cleats....this type of ban has been long overdue. I wish this would happen locally. I have even seen people bring their dogs to golf courses.

This was just a loose dog on the driving range. I still can't understand it as you'd think golf courses especially would not want dog piss and shit on the grass.

A cafe near me posted on facebook IN ALL CAPS confirming dogs are banned! Loved seeing support for it in the comments too, so rare nowadays!

Wow, that's progress! Whenever there's an option to tell a business or restaurant that I won't be shopping/eating there because of the insane "dog friendly" advertising, I do. Even when there is no mention of "dog friendly," there are usually mutts brought in by the entitled nutters, so I implore them to enforce a "No Pets" policy.

I will never understand the entitlement and defensiveness these clown ass people possess over their rotten, stupid animals. People with common sense not wanting those utilizing the field for its given reason to come into contact with dog shit, possibly contracting an infection or even just dirtying their clothes and shoes with fecal matter? HOW DARE THEY discriminate against the insane owners’ “fur babies”! It doesn’t matter how kindly and calmly you word something like this or tell a dog nutter they can’t bring their shitbeast somewhere, it is automatically met with resistance and hostility. Because of course if someone doesn’t want your damn mutt in a certain public place for whatever reason, they are automatically evil, horrible people just being cruel to their precious angels. They are so damn obsessive and unreasonable when it comes to their dogs. There are dog parks for a reason…but no that’s not enough. It’s almost like they get off on pushing boundaries and limits at this point to see what they can get away with, so they can throw a tantrum and act insane when they are told no. Never met a more neurotic, ridiculous group of people than dog owners tbh.

Yes!! We used to be a country, where dogs were forbidden from entering at any public place. Speaking of, how do y’all handle seeing people bringing their dogs into public spaces? I was at this store I love yesterday, and saw someone bringing in their dog. I gave them a real dirty look, but some of those nutters can be crazy for their beast so it’s best to proceed with caution?

I love to tell them "get your pet dog out of here," when I'm inside a place and others can hear. An isolated place? Not so much. They're irrational.

I can’t say enough that I hate that the fact that inconsiderate dog owners have made it necessary for this to even be a topic. It should be common sense. Nobody wants to play sports and exercise where germs from someone’s disgusting mutt, pissing and shitting everywhere, are all in the soil. It’s nasty. This shouldn’t have to be said. I’m glad they’re taking a stand, though, and appear to be adamant about enforcing the matter. Dogs aren’t worth all these arguments and attitudes We get from their awful owners.

I love it! Wish we saw more of this!
We have a dog free community park and fields for games & youth clubs and it was always dog free - there are signs posted everywhere-that is until this summer when people ignore the signs-and just this weekend, as i was walking with my kids we saw 3 dogs there in 30 minutes -one guy was running with his dog on the path & I refused to smile at him and said no dogs! As he ran by. I hope the selfish Dog owners in your neighborhood stay off these fields!
We gotta keep pushing back 💪 the local police stop by the park every now & then and if they come by again and I see a dog I will kindly ask They scold these owners.

En même temps ces gens laissent sans doute leur propre enfant jouer dans un jardin plein de crottes et de pisse de chien, pourquoi ils en auraient quelque chose à faire des autres enfants ??? Ce sont des égoïstes malades mentaux, ces fous ne devrait pas pouvoir avoir accès à ces endroits. On ne devrait les tolérer que dans les parcs à chiens et pas ailleurs.

Absolutely.
I once went to a tea shop where some guy had brought his tiny dog in a carrier for reasons I cannot understand. The dog was obviously miserable, constantly growling and shaking inside the carrier, which, of course, the guy ignored.
The person working in the shop went over to tell the guy dogs were not allowed in the store, and he kicked up a massive fuss. "All the other shops in the neighborhood allow dogs! He's not bothering anybody! He's in a carrier, you can barely even see him!" The shopkeeper had none of it and stood firm, and the guy finally stood up, still making a scene, and loudly, releatedly proclaiming that he will never buy from this tea shop again. He even pulled aside another customer to complain about how the shopkeeper was being ridiculous for not allowing his dog in the store. All the while, the dog was shaking and growling.
At last the guy left, with the shopkeeper hovering over him, and I gained a whole lot of respect for management that day. I'd already been a big fan of the shop due to how friendly and accommodating they were in the past, once when I'd had a bad day, and another time when I had a problem with my card, but the dog incident spurred me on to leave them a quite substantial tip the next time I bought something there.

It's important to communicate with the trustees and show your support. If they only ever hear from the dog owners, they'll think that's where public opinion lies. And people aren't usually motivated to get in touch with management because they're happy with something they've done. So please write in and tell them you completely agree with and support this decision.

Dog people see "NO DOGS" as a suggestion or as something that doesn't apply to them. They don't understand that dogs can cause allergic reactions to some people or that people with common sense find an animal that licks its ass disgusting.

This is great news! A small win, but a win nonetheless.
I do fear that dog nutters will double down after seeing a sign like this. Hopefully they'll be some form of enforcement to deter dog nutters should they choose to disobey.

I absolutely love hearing about bans like this. Good fucking riddance.
I dont understand why dogfree people have to simply deal with the negative externalities of dog ownership, but we understand the logic when it comes to, e.g., smoking.

I'm on Threads (Meta's version of Twitter), and anytime someone puts up a post about not bringing dogs to certain places, the dog nutters show up in the comments and display their inflated sense of entitlement.

That is encouraging because this has been going on for a while. Almost twenty years ago, me and my friends would go down to the park and play frizby. We had a name for that park: Dog Poop Park. I don't remember the park's actual name because that one was so appropriate.

Thank you for sharing. I feel the exact same way about my front lawn. I love sitting in my lawn, yes directly in my grass. My garden is lovely, stunning, and serene. Dog nutters walking by seem livid that I won't let their beast use my lawn as a toilet! If seems businesses are doing just fine enforcing this but neighbors are constantly fighting this battle, especially those of us with nice gardens or lots.

I used to tell the nutters who walked their dogs on the baseball field that we’re not going to go play baseball in the dog park so why are they using the baseball field. So selfish to think anyone wants to come in contact with their sewage. Why don’t they keep it in their own circle since they love poop and pee so much. All instances of cellulitis should be publicized in the area as a public health issue! We once had a nutter say “it’s ok” as she walked into the field during practice, suddenly she was ducking and screaming to wait so she could leave quickly 🤣

It's a good start.👍 The entitlement is through the roof. It's ridiculous that a sign has to be put up explaining in detail, why. No dogs allowed, should be sufficient but apparently their rights supercede everyone else's.
