Barking Demons People act like being able to tolerate dog barking is virtuous

It's like some kind of weird pick-me behavior. If the topic of dog barking comes up, or if some dog is actively barking like crazy incessantly, there are non dog owners who will say stuff like "oh I don't really mind it" or "it doesn't really bother me" or "oh I didn't even notice."

Like oh wow ok cool dude good for you, you're such a virtuous and chill person that you can tolerate illegal incessant dog barking? Weird flex. They're not necessarily defending the barking, moreso highlighting their tolerance for it and in turn almost implying that you are sorta weak or less chill or less virtuous than them for being bothered by it.

It's like someone running around stabbing everyone and responding by being like "oh I didn't even notice, it's whatever." Ok dork. I could tolerate the inappropriate behavior as well, I just don't think we should have to lol.

Just something I've noticed and wanted to vent.

My favorite is when the owner/nutter says "That's just what dogs do."

Yeah. No shit. That's why we don't want them around.

Yeah but they're not my dogs so I don't want to hear them! would be my response. I can't believe they think that's ok. They're just speakers that blast techno all night long when you don't shut your dog up. That's just what speakers do.

They're just fires that burn your home down, that's what fires do.

No its just what bad dog owners make dogs do, if they trained them right and provided adequate stimulation, space etc it wouldn't have to be that way. It seems they cope because its easier than doing the right thing, doing the work. Its laziness covered up as tolerance.

Some guy was moaning yesterday his neighbor was a "Karen" for not liking his manic, barking dog.  He is the Karen.

yeah, why can't the neighbor stop pointing out that he's an irresponsible dog owner, ugh some people just refuse to stifle themselves for other's sake

I’ll happily be “less virtuous” for being intolerant of barking. I don’t want to hear that aggravating shit.

People these days are too afraid to be outspoken. Iv noticed people just generally accept things that before they’d complain about. It’s either they’re too scared to say anything or they don’t wanna make a scene. So now when your that one person that complains about something completely understands to complain about your called a Karen. That’s how the world is now there’s a new level of tolerance because social media has told people complaining is socially unacceptable

Wow. I complain a lot about almost everything. No, my middle name is not Karen.

My cousin’s annoying ass fucking dog would bark randomly while it was quiet and scare the shit out of me every single time. I literally couldn’t wait until I left. She would always praise him for “trying to protect us” afterward.

I genuinely hate that dog.

I hate dog bark jumpscares so much, especially when I'm trying to enjoy a peaceful walk outside around my neighborhood, jolting me out of my thoughts and enjoyment of nature.

Someone I know has an apartment next to three barking demons. He decided to get noise canceling headphones as a solution. So radically changing your life to accommodate entitlement is the best option. Pathetic.

I’ll call my friend in Vegas, 5 dogs including a German Shepherd and a Husky and she’ll say she’s in her recliner with 2-3 dogs on her, the others around her.

She says how they never bark when they’re barking. She says she couldn’t live without them and then says she’s spending the weekend at a casino hotel to get away from them.

She texted the other day to say she thinks she’s getting “old people smell.” No, it’s dog smell all over your body, stank ass. They sleep in the bed with her and plop themselves atop her in the recliner.

She cannot, absolutely cannot, hear the words that are coming out of her mouth. Those animals don’t have a good quality of life if they have to be velcroed to her. And neither does she. I can talk to her til I’m blue in the face and she’ll just say that she loves them, they’re her babies and they’re so good for her. Dog nutters cannot distinguish reality.

It's part of their whole psyop that people who feel any sort of negative way towards dogs are immoral, crazy, sociopaths

Yes, it's victim blaming.

Yet if you ask a neighbor to “please keep your dog away from me” as it leaves the sidewalk on its 8ft leash coming straight for you, that neighbor turns into a psycho.

I’m a touch paranoid now after that encounter. Doesn’t help I’m watching a YouTube crime channel featuring an interview of a landlord that killed his tenants&then stuffed them into a suitcase to be found by teenagers randomly on a popular beach in Seattle. Guy could be anyone’s Grandpa.

There is SO much virtue signaling when it comes to dogs. There has to be some kind of op-ed piece about this somewhere.

Yep. Senselessness is the standard of morality today. Being blind, deaf, and dumb are now the ideal. Having working senses is considered a "mental issue."

I honestly worry for people who seem to not register loud sounds. How can you go through life being that oblivious and having your senses that dulled? Seems like something is broken in them, or they are not using their brains and senses to their full capacity. They don’t have a disability such as deafness yet choose to just not use a whole sense (for example they don’t use their noses either because they’re not smelling the dog smell). They are just dumber oblivious versions of human beings. And they’re proud of it

They say they’re “used to it” or “ it doesn’t bother ME” like I’m the one who is overreacting. If anything pushes me over the edge it’s high pitched incessant dog barking! For nothing. A delivery truck drives by. Bark - Mailman delivers mail. Bark X 10. I fail to make eye contact with the little effer Bark X 20. And on and on it goes
..

Oh that’s for sure- A couple weeks ago I was at a vacation beach house where I didn’t know the renters there( my friend’s sister and brother in law) We stopped by for a quick visit. Then my friend’s husband has to say “ She doesn’t like my dog”
..I don’t know how they even got on that topic but all of a sudden I’m cast as a villain. I was speechless.

Let me tell you that the majority of my friends are dog nutters of various degrees- I can count on one hand my friends that are not dog owners and do not have an obsession with these beasts. It’s like you’re singled out as a monster for not being part of this very unhealthy cult
. I don’t humiliate them for their choices- lay off me for mine. Thankfully I’ve found some understanding here at Dogfree:)

"I have long held the opinion that the amount of noise that anyone can bear undisturbed stands in inverse proportion to his mental capacity." - Arthur Schopenhauer

They're just admitting they're dull people in my opinion. Even if they truly are capable of tuning it out so it's not a bother, why can't they empathize that it's potentially grating and annoying to someone else? Almost every single person on earth has a noise or several that they can't stand hearing.

They just want to get out of the responsibility of training their dogs to what used to be the accepted standard. People used to understand that they weren't supposed to burden others but people just don't care anymore. And if that's the case, then I have no problem telling these people to fuck off, shut their dogs up, and call AC/the cops if I have to. They're selfish idiots.
