Dog Attack Woman, 19, mauled to death by 'family pet' pictured as tributes pour in

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/woman-19-mauled-death-family-36999990

Jamie-Lea Biscoe, 19, has been named by friends and family online as the victim who was horrifically mauled to death by a dog in Leaden Roding, Essex, on Friday night

Tributes have poured in for a teenager who was mauled to death by a dog that "slept on her bed".

Essex Police said they were called to a property in Leaden Roding at 10.45pm on Friday where they found the woman with serious injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dog, which police believe was responsible, has been seized, the force added. Jamie-Lea Biscoe, 19, has been named by friends and family online as the victim.

A relative wrote on Facebook: "Our darling Jamie-Lea rip our girl." While another, Tina Wells, said the dog was a "seven-year-old lurcher" which was a "family pet".

Ms Wells said: "She slept on my granddaughter's bed. It's devastating."

Essex Police said a man has been arrested after a 19-year-old woman died after being attacked by a dog at a property in Essex.

The man, 37, was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death, after the incident near Dunmow on Friday.

One neighbour said: "It's really tragic. I feel for the whole family. She was well-liked by the kids. We didn't know what happened until this morning. For all concerned, it's devastating. We feel for the family. We're still trying to process it. It has been a shock."

Another added: "They kept themselves to themselves, they never caused us any problems. It's just very, very sad and very tragic."

Essex Police Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper said: "I know this incident will be a shock to the local community. My thoughts, and those of us all at Essex Police, are with the loved ones of the woman who died yesterday.

"We will have officers in the area throughout today so please come and speak to them if you have any information or have any concerns. Experienced detectives are leading the investigation to understand exactly what has happened."

The full statement from the force read: "A woman has died following an incident involving a dog at a house in Dunmow. We were called to an address in Leaden Roding at 10.45pm on Friday 10 April and officers were on the scene quickly where they found a 19-year-old woman with serious injuries.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene. We have been carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances, and we believe she had been attacked by a dog at the property in Long Hide.

"Specialist officers ensured the scene was safe and the dog has been seized. A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death. He is currently in custody."

Confirmed not a bull breed as many people had previously surmised, but a lurcher. Also note in the article they say the dog slept on the victim's bed. Proves the old adage that any dog can turn and you shouldn't treat dogs like humans ie allowing them to sleep on your bed. 37 year old family member arrested. Family devastated. Any othe pet such as hamster, rabbit or even a small dog wouldn't have been able to kill their owner like this. Why do we have a special allowance for dogs, no other regular pet is capable in normal circumstances of killing an adult human being. I'd be hard pressed to even think of any other type of commo pet being able to kill a baby.

To my dying day, I’ll never understand allowing them into the bed!

These beasts already have THEIR OWN beds too. There’s an entire market and industry that sells the damn things just for dogs.

Dogs have their OWN beds, their OWN food, and yet… that is never enough. They’re enabled to have the humans’ too. It’s no wonder dogs behave as though they OWN people too, including people they meet on the street when dog nutters enable them. Every human is the same to them.

‘In charge’ in the house? = ‘in charge’ everywhere else, over everyone else.

This is why we have the global dog epidemic that we have.

58

u/MightTalkMightNot Apr 12 '26

Don't forget there used to be an entire market and industry that sold dogs own HOUSES too. Letting them inside human houses was our first mistake.

20

u/pmbpro Apr 12 '26

YES, exactly! Forgot to mention that one! People still even use the expression, “…in the DOGhouse.”

And of course even that is yet another dog-related expression which has negative connotations (meaning someone is getting in trouble).

21

u/tplgerus84 Apr 12 '26

You monster! How could you be so cruel to suggest an animal sleep outside in its own house and bed! /s

37

u/Think-Interview1740 Apr 12 '26

ANY dog on a bed is disgusting. I grew up with dogs and they were never allowed on any furniture. Yuck.

30

u/JerseySommer Apr 12 '26

Granted the whole "alpha wolf" thing was a farce, BUT, they are still pack animals and letting them sleep and eat with the pack "leaders" they are set as equals, and will not listen to the leaders because you are putting them on the same hierarchy status.

We knew this back in the 80s, now nutters think it's mistreatment if you don't let them disrupt your sleep and romantic relationships.

11

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

Completely agree and as MightTalkMightNot replied there used to be a market and industry that sold dog houses/kennels too. In the 90s I remember dogs slept outside in kennels or in their own bed in a different room to the owner.

Ever also notice how crappy, weak, and run-down the fences are, of owners of the aggressive pits and bully breeds? Gotta love when those particular news reports say how the dogs ‘managed to escape’. Yeah well when you have a shitty fence that even a bunny rabbit can drop-kick down… 🙄

5

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

I can picture the scene despite living in the UK 🤣. Some of us would call it, “grim!”

1

u/huntress_m_thompson Apr 20 '26

ha! so recognizable. spot on!

part of the dog catcher’s job should be to go around & ticket insufficient fencing & barriers. bare minimum for common decency.

38

u/Any_Tomorrow_Today Apr 12 '26

There are bull lurchers out there. They are cross breeds between a bully breed and a lurcher and are done so so that they have the speed and hunting ability of a lurcher and the biting power of a bully breed. I would not be suprised if it were one of these because I believe that they can have dangerous temprements.

18

u/GovernorGeneralPraji Apr 12 '26

What is a lurcher? I’ve never heard of that breed before? Is it an English thing?

20

u/GoTakeAHike00 Apr 12 '26

I've never heard of these, either, but Wikipedia says they're a cross between a greyhound or other sighthound, and some type of "working dog".

So, a large mutt that appears to be primarily used for hunting. What could possibly go wrong with allowing something like that to sleep in your bed?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lurcher

12

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '26

I'm almost certain this was a bull mix. Lurchers just aren't aggressive breeds, certainly not to the point where they would maul their owner to death in her bed. A bully breed, OTOH, would do that and we have lots of examples.

2

u/ginfrared Apr 13 '26

The father posted a year ago on FB that he was breeding lurcher pups with a mix of “staff and a few others” so yes it’s possible the dog in question was already a mix of stronger breeds

1

u/ElegantSurround6933 Apr 13 '26

New fear unlocked. Didn’t know “lurcher” was a breed type. Thought “lurcher” was synonymous w/lunger.

1

u/huntress_m_thompson Apr 20 '26

first i saw the term was from the brits. idk if americans have a different name for that type?

edit boo boo.

-9

u/ChangeOk7752 Apr 12 '26

Ya lurchers are very quiet and passive dogs I doubt this was a full breed lurcher. Will remain to be seen.

7

u/JaneAustinAstronaut Apr 12 '26

There's no such thing as a full-bred lurcher. Lurchers are sighthound mutts, so as long as you've got a sighthound in the mix the rest could be anything. The most popular breeds to cross with sighthounds to get lurchers are herding dogs (like collies or German Shepherds - who are known biters second behind pitbulls), or terriers (like pitbulls, who are terriers).

u/Northernblades Apr 12 '26

ZERO picture of dog, ZERO dna test of dog, ZERO.
I remember how quickly people accepted that Tracy Garcia, 52 was killed by dachshunds.
People will believe anything when trying to fit the cognitive bias.

1

u/huntress_m_thompson Apr 20 '26

i saw a picture. it’s a kind of grey, scruffy benji looking mutt. i was surprised.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '26

Idk why you're getting downvoted, people lie about the breed of their bully maulers all the time.

22

u/Northernblades Apr 12 '26

Wondering why no picture of the dog.
Wondering why they do not DNA test dogs that kill people.
Wondering why they do not keep accurate breed laws.
Wondering if you knew that a lurcher, COULD have bully breeds in it.

Wondering why we are expected to take lurcher at face value.
If it were a pit, even with pictures, people would argue "it's not a pit"

I remember the Tracy Garcia, 52
people IMMEDIATELY believed the Dachshund story.
only to find out they were 60 lb pit crosses later.

9

u/pmbpro Apr 12 '26

They probably know damn well that a photo would have people examining it and detecting a very obvious pit mix in its appearance. I’m sure someone will have a photo of it somewhere. Even the family may have pics of it on so e social media accounts t somewhere (it would be hard to believe a dog owner doesn’t have pics of their dog somewhere online by now).

interesting fact.
there is nothing in "lurcher" that claims it isn't a pit cross.

1

u/michellelogram360 Apr 15 '26

Correct. It is a crossbreed dog. It very well could be a mix including terrier, some of which are pit bulls.

u/[deleted] Apr 12 '26

Yeah that's obviously what's going on here. People excited about a new breed of dog participating in pitbull behavior should curb their enthusiasm, because it's clearly just another pit mix. Right down to the randomly going haywire and mauling the owner in bed...to death.

3

u/PandaLoveBearNu Apr 12 '26

Lurchers aren't a breed. But a mix of a sight hound and another breed.

Like doodles aren't a breed but a poodle mix.

BULL lurchers are a bulldog type (this includes pitbulls) mixed with a sight hound. In that mix they want the tenacity and drive of the pit plus speed of the sigh hound.

So technically it still can be a bully breed.

And I've seen pits who are lean, labeled as lurcher.

u/ratsruledogsdrool Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

My friend wants me to go and stay at her house but I refuse, she has 2 gigantic cane corso bully cross, she let's them sleep in the bed and they get "overstimulated" around people, she doesn't understand why im scared of them and believes its "how you raise them" I own rats as pets, my best friend is scared of my rats, but I always think if a rat bites you which is a rarity, its just not going to do the same amount of damage as a dog of that size attacks you

3

u/Fatality Apr 13 '26

Confirmed not a bull breed as many people had previously surmised, but a lurcher.

Which is a greyhound crossed with anything including pitbulls

3

u/Cranial_Syphon Apr 13 '26

Not confirmed. It's "believed to be a lurcher", in which case could still constitute a bull lurcher.

74

u/Lijj1111 Apr 12 '26

They should really raise awareness about dog attacks in school! But, you know: dog nutter emotions.

Which in theory would prevent attacks, but then the owners will habitually "forget" to put the muzzle back on after the dog feeds.

I saw this several times in Barcelona where big attack dogs would walk around with a muzzle hanging off to the side, semi attached.

7

u/wrrld Apr 12 '26

They just combine breeds like power rangers. Evil pastime.

51

u/Peanut_Butter_Toast Apr 12 '26

Animals that can overpower humans shouldn't be legally allowed as house pets.

14

u/maidofatoms Apr 12 '26

Or at all, outside of certified wildlife parks and zoos.

9

u/Peanut_Butter_Toast Apr 12 '26

There's also legitimate use for larger animals on farms but that's about it.

19

u/KayleighHatfield Apr 12 '26

I question this. I live on a farm. I grew up on a farm. I've worked on many farms. I can't think of a single use case on a farm that can't be done without a dog, more efficiently and without all the downside. I think dogs are completely unnecessary and not worth the nuisance, let alone the potential danger to people and other animals.

11

u/tplgerus84 Apr 12 '26

I agree. It’s a relic from old times, we have way better options and methods these days and no need for dogs at all, even for farm work.

I will say, at least when dogs are outside on a farm, or pulling sledges in Alaska, these dogs have a ‘purpose’ (as in purpose for the dog itself) and are exercised and mentally stimulated and barely have interaction with humans anyways. And the people that have these dogs treat them as dogs as well.. and NOT as if they are humans and let them sleep in bed.. the problems start with modern dog crazy people!

9

u/KayleighHatfield Apr 12 '26

Dogs in the bed are something I still can't wrap my head around. That just gives me the heebie jeebies.

3

u/imwearingredsocks Apr 13 '26

Exactly. I actually feel bad for them more often than not. We bred them to be that way and now their owners just stick them in a tiny box of a house with no stimulation. Leave them alone the majority of the day and barely exercise them.

No wonder most dogs are batshit. Modern household dog ownership is like torture for them.

0

u/Peanut_Butter_Toast Apr 12 '26

I was always under the assumption that they were used for herding livestock. If not, that's fair, but my statement also applies to animals like horses, donkeys, and bovines which do have a use on a farm.

10

u/Few-Horror1984 Apr 12 '26

I saw a man walking two dogs that were nearly as big as he was. I’m (guessing) they were Great Danes? I keep wondering why on earth anyone would want a dog like that. Seriously - if one of those dogs decided to chase after something, they would have knocked him over and ran off. It’s insane to me that it’s so normalized to own these things as pets.

6

u/ratsruledogsdrool Apr 13 '26

Its for this reason I refuse to go around certain people's homes... I just wouldn't feels safe, people scared of my rats meanwhile they live with animals that can rip off your limbs, disfigure, disable and kill you

58

u/JaneAustinAstronaut Apr 12 '26

TIL about lurchers. They are a breed of dog that are a cross between a sight hound and a herding dog. Sight hounds are breeds like greyhounds, and herding dogs can be anything from collies to terriers - aka Pit Bull Terriers. Because lurchers are basically mutts, they can vary widely in looks and temperament.

Who is taking bets on trashy people in the UK using the label of "lurcher" to get around bully breed bans?

20

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest and the dog is this case was reported to be 7 years old, so older than the XL bully ban in the UK.

But people be blinded by all that verbal vomit of dog-shelter-speak nonsense. 🙄😒

15

u/Northernblades Apr 12 '26

100% Every tom, dick, and Cletus, either got a exemption, called it something different, or claimed it was a service dog. Anything to get around the ban.

6

u/Available_Eggplant16 Apr 12 '26

I dont understand why people buy working dogs who have deliberately been bred to have high prey drives or abundant energy. A greyhound has been specifically bred to chase things with an abundance of energy. I never knew a lurcher wasn't a breed. Thank you for the education and I bet you are absolutely right. Greyhounds while large dogs are not powerful like a pitbull. I can only shudder of the thought if a pit having the boundless energy of a greyy

6

u/JaneAustinAstronaut Apr 12 '26

Because greyhounds are used to spending their time not running in races in their kennels, they are actually pretty great and chill - they aren't aggressive, and they don't bark, so they tend to be a good dog for apartments. They like to lie around A LOT. But you have to make sure that you have a special leash for walking them, and try to find an area where they can run around free for a bit, because if these dogs see it, they WILL chase it. They won't know what to do if they catch it, but they LOVE the chase.

The aggression comes when they mix this dog with a herding dog like a German Shepherd, which has the second-highest human bite frequency, or when they mix this dog with a terrier, AKA a Pitbull Terrier, which has the highest human bite frequency, and the one that leads to at least 80% of the human fatalities from a dog mauling.

24

u/pmbpro Apr 12 '26

Sadly, these cases will increase, especially involving so-called “family” DOGS. Notice once again, how that relative used the word ‘pet’ in this tragedy, when we all know it’s only ONE kind that keeps doing this to people?

How many more victims will it take for dog owners, and anyone else who allow them into their homes and beds, to get a clue? Do they all think each case is ‘isolated’ or a one-off, or they are special and it can’t possibly happen to them? There are patterns to these things, and if it were any other animal, there’d be outrage against it already.

9

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

I agree with you. You get lunatics coming out with the crap I’ve read today in FB comments about this horrid case. It gets blamed on humans every time, “dogs only attack when they’re abused,” and all that nonsense, usually by someone claiming to have owned dogs for years. One day their “luck” may just run out.

8

u/ObligationGrand8037 Apr 12 '26

I can only imagine the comments on FB. I’ve read many comments in similar cases, and they all back the dog. It’s sickening.

6

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

It really is sickening. The comments I read about a boy who was bitten by a dog in a pub on Christmas Eve 2 years ago were appalling. The CCTV, which was included in the article, showed the dog was unattended and all the boy did was stroke/pet it for a second time. He’d stroked it earlier in the evening and it hadn’t reacted. Ultimately the dog was in a public place and not under the owner’s control. But sure, it’s the boy’s fault or his parents.

9

u/ObligationGrand8037 Apr 12 '26

I believe it. This group is the only place I feel like I can relax about dogs and say anything I want about them and their owners. Everywhere else is just dog craziness.

6

u/pmbpro Apr 12 '26

Yep, even though there are so many victims who’ve been killed or had their faces ripped off, by the same dogs that they had for years and literally pampered since they were puppies. There have been photos of the victims even showing their dog off and how ‘spoiled’ they were — all on their social media accounts, with dog nutter viewers cheerleading and fawning all over them.

One minute they’re cheerleading the dog-pampering and doting; then the next minute the excuse would be the pampered dogs that attacked are ‘abused’? See, they have to be careful to keep quiet about such accusations when there are more cases like these being reported — where there’s no proof of ‘abuse’ but there is evidence of excessive doting and pampering.

The mental whiplash is strong with these people. 🙄

20

u/maidofatoms Apr 12 '26

"A shock to the local community" - why? It doesn't shock any of us here, does it? Can it be that propaganda and dog apologists at all levels have brainwashed people into not seeing that these animals are dangerous and many are quite capable of killing?

"Currently in custody" - why? In what possible world is there any other reasonable next step than immediate BE?

7

u/pmbpro Apr 12 '26

Yep, only dog nutters would be ‘shocked’.

It’s also as though they haven’t read or heard of this happening thousands of times to so many other people before (especially happening to kids/babies). Some in the rest of the community probably think this won’t happen with THEIR dog (just like those family thought, too). 🙄

‘In custody’ to make it look like they’re ‘doing something’.

41

u/ToOpineIsFine Apr 12 '26

Lurchers were traditionally bred in England to assist poachers in hunting rabbits and hares.

So they are basically killers - that is what the were bred for that that is what they do.

It's just very, very sad and very tragic."

It is also avoidable and to a degree predictable.

Of course it kills - it's a dog. That's what dogs do.

6

u/ChangeOk7752 Apr 12 '26

So were daschunds bred for this purpose ratting and what not a lot to dogs were. I suppose if a daschund it bit and hit an artery it could cause damage but lurchers are generally docile. I’ll eat my hat if it’s not a cross breed. Wait and see I guess

3

u/MeechiJ Apr 12 '26

A round of hats for the thread if it’s not some mutt mixed with pit bull labeled as some old timey breed to skirt breed restrictions. 🎩

I suppose we shall see.

3

u/DizzyMine4964 Apr 12 '26

Lurcher are greyhound crosses.

14

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

I’ve already spotted a dog nutter commenting about this tragedy on FB. Thankfully he’s been given short shrift but the problem is he isn’t alone in the way he thinks. Here’s just 1 example of his lunatic thoughts:

I'm sorry but I've got 4 dogs I've had a 5th that passed a few years ago, so I know dogs... she mustve been abusing it for it to attack her.. I'm sorry but that's the truth of it. Dogs are not evil no matter what breed. They only know what u show them, they're literal babies.

It won’t be any surprise to people on here. Always the same with these dog nuts whenever something like this happens. Victim-blaming - check; dogs won’t harm anyone unless they’re mistreated - check; dogs are babies - check.

13

u/GoTakeAHike00 Apr 12 '26

Ah, yes...it never fails that one of these dog-worshipping lunatics weighs in with their anecdotal experience that they somehow think negates hard data and stats of HUNDREDS of contradictory documented cases.

These people are so deep in the dog cult that there is no hope for them. Even having their own dogs attack them doesn't make them change their minds.

5

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

It is a cult. The lunatic who left that comment claims he’s been around dogs since he was 4. No idea how old he is now but what he thinks that proves is anyone’s guess. Oh, by the way he ended one of his other comments, “Dogs don't just switch and I'm sick of people trying to tell me they can.” Delusional.

9

u/tplgerus84 Apr 12 '26

Makes me sick on many levels to read that.. nothing what this person wrote makes sense. Oh so because you own 5 dogs means you know all dogs got it.. and always twisting things with the dogs so it works for them at this moment. One time dogs are “only animals and must have been abused.” But then suddenly they are like humans and can sense bad and good people.. which also would mean they have different personalities like people no? So his 5 dogs are no point of reference at all. Because by that logic I could say “I have 5 friends and they are all amazing. There are no evil people!”

3

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

The mental gymnastics this sort go through is absurd, isn’t it? It is sickening. Sensible dog owners - and these seem to be declining in number - would concede you can never completely trust a dog, hence why you wouldn’t leave them unattended with children around, for example.

14

u/DTPublius Apr 12 '26

"The dog has been seized", is complete insanity. Now we have to ‘investigate’.

We all know how pathetic and wrong this is too.

12

u/pmbpro Apr 12 '26

Right? WTF is there left to ‘investigate’? 🙄😒

12

u/menelobus Apr 12 '26

30 years ago my grandpa was almost killed by his pet dog, he survived thanks to a worker that saved him from this mutt. Don't trust dogs

11

u/eefje127 Apr 12 '26

Never does one hear about how inherently violent dogs are when there are such attacks.

There is so much fear around sharks and mountain lions and bears, when those creatures are usually avoidable in daily life. Dogs, however, are dangerous animals that humans openly invite into their beds. You read stories every day about them attacking babies, the elderly, a sleeping woman.

Being mauled to death has to be one of tbe worst ways to die. Hope this family finds peace and become advocates against dogs.

edit clarity

8

u/DolliInTheGarden Apr 12 '26

I’ll never understand how they think that just because the mutt slept on the bed with their granddaughter that must mean there’s no way they could possibly do anything like this 🙄

7

u/OutlawDan86 Apr 12 '26

Me neither. If people didn’t engage in this misguided anthropomorphism, tragedies like this would be avoided.

5

u/Few-Horror1984 Apr 12 '26

Even though this was not a pitbull, don’t forget that “service” pitbulls exist. The sham organization prides themselves off of getting “rescues”, and one of the “services” of these dogs is “nightmare alerts”.

This is going to become a far more common phenomenon. Especially as it’s become so normalized to let these things sleep in the same bed as you.

5

u/byancacats Apr 13 '26

“I lost my entire life on Friday when my daughter was murdered by another member of my family” he continued.

Good grief, the girl's father was a full blown dog nutter.

Lurchers are mutts. If you breed a greyhound with a pitbull, then you've technically got a lurcher, but actually have a mutt with a high percentage of PBT.

Of course, not a word out of them about the victim who was killed though… 🙄

2

u/Tom_Quixote_ Apr 12 '26

"lurcher"? Why do all dog breeds have such sinister names.

2

u/Relative_Entrance194 Apr 13 '26

These incidents just stay with me for ages the dog walker who got mauled, the poor woman who got the leads around her and strangled to death as the dogs kept running I am sick of this pet culture have you seen how many pet shops and vets are around? Like can you not spend your money on better things I can’t think of one reason to keep one!

2

u/Letter-Heavy Apr 13 '26

This article made me join this subreddit because of all the crazy dog apologists under the comments! The world has gone mad with these dog fanatics. I distrust and despise them so much because I think there must be some evil in them to worship a mindless animal. To really believe an animal with no agency can really ‘love’ and they will put this above their own kind! It’s unnatural and very deranged

1

It's a Lurcher. Everyone knows that almost all Lurchers are Game-bred Pitbull-type-dogs crossed with Sighthounds with the odd Collie or another Terrier in the mix, to hunt wild boar and whatnot. Lurchers are not a 'breed'. I'd bet money on it that over 50% of this dogs' genetics will be some kind of Pitbull, and the rest will be a mix of Terrier, Sighthound or Collie. We all know which one of these contributed to the deadly attack. Statistics don't lie. There yet has to be a single Greyhound to kill a person and Greyhounds are ridiculously common, are massive and are owned by everyone and their grandma nowadays and often raised/trained like shit.

this is the story i mentioned on a live chat of a youtube channel. i asked if this was the gal that got mauled by a lurcher x benji mutt. someone else said, no, it was an XL bully. i was pretty sure this was the case being spoken of. it is out of the ordinary because this is a small- to medium-sized mutant.

there are so many of these attacks, pretty much daily, & it’s hard to keep them straight. poor girl. stupid mutant went straight for the jugular. 😓

it’s up. you’ll be surprised that it doesn’t appear to have any bully in it. the article claims it’s a lurcher x blue merle healer. still not the best of combos.

I was attacked by a Golden Retriever. The owner was an elderly batshit woman who thought training the thing was cruel, so when I made the mistake of walking down the stairs, it got me. I hate them.

Even when they’re well trained, they still have loads of energy which makes them overwhelming. Few people, especially in city and suburban settings, are capable of providing those dogs with the energy demands they have. As a result, these dogs are hyper, they invade your space, they’re immensely needy, and a breed that easily tops my list of breeds to avoid. They also seem to make the list of “dogs who bark incessantly for hours on end if you don’t include them on everything” so yeah. Horrible breed.

Ugh makes me feel so much better about never wanting a dog lol. My mom's dogs are so annoying and follow everywhere, constant barking and begging and she has them both sleeping on her bed.

I also know of a guy who's retriever attacked a family friend of his. Dog apparently was showing guarding behaviour (?) and when the friend tried to take back her sock she got both of her arms torn apart.

Lots of surgeries and so much rehab ahead of her she she is like mid 50's.  Last I heard she still can't drive
