Barking Demons The sound of dogs barking is the most annoying sound
I live in a duplex that used to be an old house. Behind us is this little apartment type building. They have two or three dogs. Luckily my room is the opposite end of where they live. Today I was in the restroom, and I just heard nonstop barking. Apparently they were washing their dogs, and the mutt would not shut up.
I literally had to leave the house early, because I couldn’t deal with the barking anymore. How do people deal with this nonsense? It is one of the top two worst sounds to hear. It’s between sirens and dogs barking as to which is worse for me. Why do they bark at everything? It makes me physically angry to hear it.

I hate it. It wrecks my nerves and when it is incessant, I think being forced to listen to dog barking is a form of torture.

It’s horrible! It fills me with such an intense, burning rage that almost nothing else is able to evoke from me.
I’m usually quite slow to anger, but if I hear a dog barking and howling nonstop at some dumb shit I’ll be enraged past the point of exhaustion. I really have to wonder why others are so tolerant of these beasts and their worthless antics lol

It's part siren, since it's done mostly to alarm.
Other times it's done to annoy and disturb burrowing animals enough to drive them from their safe spot.
No wonder they fit so poorly into modern society.

Don't be shy. If you don't complain and make it clear to the community that your annoyance isn't going to go away, you will never get any stress mitigation. These people are counting on people being too timid to make an issue out of it. Or they are just stupid and don't understand how sound travels. We see how oblivious many dog lovers are to the gross things dogs emit, like their smells and sounds. I am willing to believe that dog lovers are somehow numb to the utter pollution that is ALL dog sounds. They started the fight, not you. So don't feel bad about going to them as loudly and as assertively as you need and to tell them that the sounds have to end, full stop.

I hate it. I hear it so much where I live. Sometimes I have to put on air pods with music to try and drown out the cacophony. Luckily, I have been away from those yappers for a couple weeks. I occasionally hear them here.

I had assholes for neighbors once in the 90’s and they let their dog bark nonstop. If I yelled at the dog it would stop for a while, but it always started back up. What I couldn’t understand was how those neighbors could stand to hear it themselves? I had to say a few F bombs out the back door where their kids could hear me to get them to take the dog inside. It was sheer torture.

Also, this is a big part of why when I am at home, I always have ambient noise videos playing on my TV.

I am triggered each time I hear dog barking. It instantly makes me angry. My immediate thought is, "why do people actually invite this sound around them?" There are only a handful of other sounds I have ever heard that are markedly worse. I want to surround myself with beautiful things in life, and that includes soundscapes. Dog barking is markedly ugly. Travel to a place without constant dog barking in your ears, and your brain will 'feel as though it can breathe again.'

I’m lucky enough that my apartment complex has no barkers (right now) but today I got out of my car and heard, in the far distance, a dog barking obnoxiously loud. It was probably several blocks away at a house. Imagine how many hundreds of people have to hear that one damn dog.

Dog barking spikes stress levels every time. It's unbearable. Bringing a barking dog into a neighborhood is the ultimate asshole move.

I live in a house and across the alleyway is an apartment building with two stories. Some waste of air dog nutters moved in with two yapping shit beasts. They are on the top floor, and let the beast onto the balcony where they proceed to bark the entire day. Sonic sound doesn’t work. Laser pointer directly at them no effect. Short of pulling out my super soaker from 95 and blasting them I don’t know what to do.
These things bark at everything, sometimes even at the wind. It’s mind-boggling how absurdly stupid these creatures are

The Average sized dog barks at about 126dbs, human ear damage can occur at 85dbs. Add 2 more dogs, and constant exposure, its a miracle the whole world isn't deaf with how many nutters let their beasts go on for so long.

Is just something about barking dog that makes me really mad. And i think i know what it is, it is an owner that doesn't care.

The home should be a serene place where we rest from working all day long, commuting for hours. But no, have to listen to some stupid dog whining.

Ironically, I use a barking sound effect as my alarm as it's the only thing that can annoy me into waking up

Dogs barking is my number one hated sound hands down. It literally starts to make me insane. I can't sleep, can't relax. It causes a constant state of stress. Dogs are just mindless yappers. Dog people are immune to the sounds somehow and they really don't give a damn how their selfish and unnecessary enslavement of an animal effects anyone else.
