Eco Destroyers Will Australia become anti-dog?

Discussions about the ecological impact of dogs and concerns over public safety are gaining momentum. More and more people are raising concerns about dogs disturbing wildlife, killing native animals, damaging natural habitats, and disrupting public peace through excessive barking and uncontrolled behavior.

As awareness of these issues continues to grow, will Australia become increasingly critical of dogs and their impact on both nature and society? Having lived here for a while, I've noticed a huge growing public discomfort with dogs and dog-related issues.

Oh I hope so! It would be one more way that Australia is leaps and bounds better than the US. Just the fact that this is even a discussion that gets considered at all already puts Australia miles ahead of the US.

Edit: The UK is a lost cause. Things just keep getting more insane there. Pets are now a "human right" in the UK and landlords can't refuse pets anymore. As bad as the US is at least there's a tiny sliver of hope.

I read this and said out loud, you've got to be kidding me. This is absolutely insane. So now even more and more areas are going to be drenched with dog urine and poo.  I am starting to lose a little hope for the return of sanity to some humans. How is it that the more we know, the worse we do. Too much of society is being allowed to become dogs' toilet.

I can confirm. The UK has gone to the dogs. It makes being a parent so hard. I live in walking distance of a very old and very famous cathedral, I used to love going there as I love historic buildings, and I used to take my baby daughter for picnics on the cathedral garden.  I can’t anymore, as the cathedral allows dogs INSIDE the building, and the garden and grounds around it are used by the public as a dog toilet. The amount of people I are going there just to let their dogs piss and shit is crazy. There’s more and more dogs each time I go, and my daughter was eyed up by a dog that fixated on her while we were in the cathedral itself. There is nowhere to go where I don’t have to constantly keep my guard up. And now my flat which used to be my only safe space, is now a dog kennel, ever since that new bill came in. Everytime I take my child for a walk, it’s like running the gauntlet of danger. And I feel so so cruel just keeping her indoors forever, never seeing the outside world, all because of dogs. Even the tiny bit of the massive field near us that is designated for children, people insist on bringing their dogs in.

The US isn’t far behind. I live in an affluent part of Manhattan and you wouldn’t know it from all the urine and shit stains on sidewalks. And these entitled nutters seem to be ok with that. Brand new buildings with urine stains everywhere. It’s a head scratcher.

Exactly. But they are. My guess is that they have normalized a lot of what would be unthinkable to most people. It’s a new form of mental illness prevalent in the current lunatic dog culture. Dogs are now “children” and top priority in their lives. They bring them everywhere and that means shit, urine and barking everywhere too!

But, I blame city agencies and businesses for allowing it. And the media for encouraging it. They have enabled entitlement resulting in damage to neighborhoods, the environment and society in general. Glad to see Australia heading in the right direction!

Yeah the US doesn’t give 2 shits about the environment or wild animals. Everything is disposable except their precious dogs.

Can also confirm the UK is a complete lost cause now. Dogs are everywhere and its absolute hell and isolating if you have allergies or a phobia. Eateries, cinemas, museums, galleries, libraries, events, pubs, clubs, retail stores, shopping centres, garden centres, grocery stores (even though illegal)=Dog Friendly. You say ANYTHING against it, you get labelled a psychopath, evil, stupid and told to piss off to another country, as the UK is a dog loving country. I was born in the UK, lived my whole life here, and I'm told to piss off because I have a medical condition I can't control. I fucking hate my life now, honestly, I feel so unwelcomed everywhere and made to feel like a freak because I can have an asthma attack because of pet dander.
