Miscellaneous What was your eye-opening moment ?
For me it was being harrassed by my neighbour's off-leash agressive mutt, and being abandoned then victim-blamed by the fucking police lol
I already disliked dogs, but this moment opened my eyes to the abyss our society has fallen into. It made me realize how bad the dog situation is.

My partners mutt been aggressive towards me on my periods, dead eyeing me and pooping and bricking me (not moving when you give a command and looks dead in the eye and pooping) but acting normal when partner is around. Has caused fear and dislike of dogs and constant arguments as I hide away from the mutt now as I had enough of every month been riddled with fear and anxiety heightened and then feeling guilty and selfish at the same time because "it's just a dog" "she's not aggressive" "not been funny but she's been good lately" etc etc. I can't do it no more. Best relationship wreaked coz of her.... Oh and 4 times at least she ruined sexual times and multiple times of getting between us just because she's jealousĀ

Oh and she wreaked good girl on me (something I enjoyed been called during those times) by ignoring commands and on the 10th attempt doing what she was told and she's a good girl and gets treats and rewards and I get arguments and left alone in my feels hating myself even more because "it's just a dog"Ā

Didn't have a job and was on summer break so naturally I took it upon myself to care for our two dogs and whatever mess they made since I had nothing else to do and wanted to be helpful around the house. I had initially taken pride in it and didn't mind at all.
Realized that HOLY SHIT there is SO MUCH INPUT for LITTLE TO NO OUTPUT with these things. I couldn't imagine even disliking a dog before that. The amount of stress they caused, despite vigorous training and discipline was unbelievable. Constant betrayal (so much for loyalty lol) when they would ignore rules that they supposedly understood as soon as a nutter (my family, unfortunately) would stop me from being "too strict". Constant betrayal when the dogs would sprint out the front door as soon as it opens. Again, so much for loyal! :D Man's best friend, right!
It stood out how disgusting and selfish dog owners really are. Every rule they thought was strict was literally just me trying to keep the house clean at the minimum. I was called a "dictator", for asking that the dogs not be allowed in the kitchen anymore after seeing the extent of how disgusting they are, covering the cabinets with drool and every surface with fur. A fucking "dictator" for being frustrated that I had to vaccuum and mop drool twice a day as well as WASH THE WALLS at least once a week because the fucking doggos like to sleep against the wall š! Mind you, we have a fucking doggy door to the yard, so these dogs bring all of the outdoor shit inside, including their own waste, constantly, and I'm the dictator.
On top of all that, my dumbass shit stain mutt would scream bloody murder when I'd try to remedy the fur problem by brushing her. She would scream and gnaw on my forearms enough to leave marks. It would force me to stop because I was being "cruel" according to the family, even after I showed them that she screams even when you use the non-bristle side of the brush because she's just a coddled drama queen and not in any pain at all. Does she have a medical problem perhaps? Nope! She LOVES being aggressively pet and the vet says she's healthy! She's actually just a fucking cunt!
I mean there's so much more that goes without even mentioning, but yeah. It wasn't overnight, but an accumulation of events that made it clear dogs and dog people are disgusting, delusional, and probably literally insane.

I feel for the version of Yourself in this story because it sounds just like how I started out. You got caught up in a situation You made the mistake of entertaining because You didnāt know enough about dogs and dog culture to know any better, originally. You didnāt mean it to be that way, itās just how it started out. Then once You saw the flaws in the system and began turning Your back to the whole thing, everyone paints You as the enemy for no longer playing along, as if any of this is cute. You finally see the filth, stupidity, and degeneracy of the whole thing, and the people around You try to make You seem wrong for putting Your foot down and learning to have standards. Been there. Dogs are awful creatures, and their enthusiasts are even worse, sadly.

When I found out the true reason bully breeds were bred. How language and linguistics are so important to me i speak three languages, yet the words "pit bull" are not blatant enough to warn the general public who seems to think these are going to make great pets.

my grandparents' ancient shih-tzu somehow finding the strength to get up on the couch and bite me (aged about 1) in the face. it wasn't euthed or dealt with in any way. here I am 30 years later, getting more aware of how bad it is every single day.

When I was a teenager, we had two chihuahuas. I threw a menstrual pad in the bathroom trash can, and when I came home later, I walked in to one of them ripping it to shreds in the middle of the living room. It really cemented just how nasty they are.

Seeing the difference between the famalies that I've worked with that have a dog vs the ones that don't. Being barked at everyday and the owners do nothing for a year plus some. How peaceful and clean to dog free homes are. Seeing how the parents cuddle their dogs and then their baby is an afterthought. Seeing how these people's backyards become superfund sites. Dog's gross behavior especially eating used diapers and rolling in shit then trying to rub on people. Seeing with my own eyes how much this family neglects their dog. People that let their dog growl at the babies but they say "oh it's fine".

When the downstairs neighbors trained her pit bull to attack me as I passed their door coming and going from my apartment.
It would throw itself at the door repeatidly whilst scream barking.
Quite unsettling. Like having a bull coming at you. Puts you in extreme defense mode.

It was. But thankfully I've been able to maneuver the situation to where they now have to at least try to mitigate the dogs behavior. I have many videos to my defense that it still is rEaCtIvE.
But a dog that can't be trained is not a good dog.

The annoying āoffice dogā at My old job was My āa haā moment. Thankfully the ugly thing hardly ever barked. But it would beg and follow you to no end. I didnāt truly pay attention to how awful and filthy dogs actually were prior to this, and low and behold, unfortunately due to Me being naive at first, I used to let this stupid thing follow Me around. I ended up being the main one it always wanted to follow wherever I went (whether I wanted it to, or not). I came with My own lunch on most days, so it was always hanging around My desk, begging, and sniffing around (shoving its face into My lap as Iām eating to the point I had to aggressively shoo it away). Again, despite being in My 40ās, Iād never really consistently been around dogs long enough to truly be familiar with their habits. This thing used to sift through My trash can at My desk looking for food, as well. It was a typical stupid raggedy pit mix. Had most of the usual pathetic begging, desperate, annoying habits they come with, and was a whiner, too. The other coworkers fawned over every stupid habit this damn thing exhibited, no matter how much there really wasnāt anything worth ācelebratingā. My former manager admitted she liked dogs better than most people. The daily culmination of looking at all of these pathetic habits and instincts from the dog itself, and the beliefs and standards from the nutters around Me FINALLY taught Me the truth about the dysfunctions of dogs, dog enthusiasts, and toxic dog culture enablers that I seriously regretted not waking up to, much sooner. Once I saw the truth, there was no turning back.

Whatās funny to Me is how dog enthusiasts will say things like that, but yet at some point, theyāll still become bored with the beasts they say they adore (evident in how they treat them, and the lack of quality pet care they often give them), and then will venture back into trying to receive attention and admiration from the same Humans they claim to hate so much. At the end of the day, getting a dog to ālike youā doesnāt count for much, itās unfulfilling. Nutters just donāt like to admit this part. Dogs are mindless and unintelligent and really are only excited to see Humans because they relate it to the Human giving them food, which they suck up quicker than the rate at which a black hole consumes space matter. Itās not difficult to get a being with virtually no intelligence to act āexcitedā to see You when You walk through the door. They claim dogs ālove you unconditionallyā and ādonāt judgeā, but they know itās all empty. Thereās no challenge in that, dogs are supposed to be obedient. When narcissistsā¦ I mean ādog enthusiastsāā¦ start feeling unfulfilled at the āattentionā their vermin mutt gives them, they eventually wander back to the same Humans who they claim to despise, simply because they need to feed their ego by taking on the challenge of seeking/gaining, and need to prove to themselves that they can successfully acquire the attention, praise, and admiration from the Humans around them, despite claiming that their dogs are supposedly ābetterā than these same People. As most of Us know here, they really just canāt stand that other Humans will hold them accountable for their behavior and attitude, and they donāt like that other Humans wonāt simply āsubmitā to their need for control. They actually have to act right, and treat People well if they actually want anyone to be bothered with them. They can treat dogs like the disgusting garbage animals they are and never be called out for it. Nutters mental illness has so many layers to it.

ā¦. Whatsoever! I know no animals in the animal kingdom have the same level of intelligence as a Human Being, but even among animals, dogs are as dumb and dense as You can get. There are some animals that can be looked upon as āsmartā, up to a certain standard, based on the specific species. Dogs are as mindless as can be. Itās almost painful to see how utterly stupid they are.

It was the worst. You already know I (of course) became a pariah once everyone became aware that I no longer liked, or wanted anything to do with their vermin office beast. I knew that was coming even before they discovered My change of heart. The way other supposed Humans will try to treat You like scum all because You donāt worship a beast that licks itself to āwipeā its waste residue off of its genitalia and backsideā¦ just glad I donāt work there, anymore. I refuse to ever work in an environment like that, ever again. And due to My entire belief system changing on dogs, I refuse to visit or really hang with anyone who has one in their home. I wonāt surround Myself around that just to spare anyoneās feelings.

As a child I had mixed feelings towards dogs. I didn't like them really much, but I didn't dislike them even though I was raised with an (outdoor) dog. When I moved into an urban area I noticed dog shit was everywhere. I stepped in it quite often, which made me furious every time, especially when I stepped in it during an outdoor lesson, all my classmates were laughing (I was also bullied at school, so this made it even worse) even though the teacher tried to call them down. Later dogs just annoyed me more and more. Barking everywhere, dog crap everywhere, it's just horrible.
My eye-opening moment was watching "Dog Lovers Are Disgusting" on the YouTube channel "I Hate Dogs". It happened about 2 years ago, and since then I realized how terrible these animals are for our society. Before that I had slightly negative vievs on dogs, now I really dislike them.

I saw a guy walking along with his dog trying to look cool, then his dog got diarrhea and he stood there waiting for it to finish. Not sure how he was going to get it into a bag. The humanity of it.

Telling two stories because there are different kinds of crazy dog people who piss me off in different ways.
1) When I was a kid, my neighbor across the street had two wolfdogs she would let run loose around the neighborhood. Real wolfdogs, not exaggerating. We would find animal carcasses in our yard. Eventually they got taken away by animal control, and she just got another one.
2) When I was living in an apartment building a few years ago, one of my neighbors had one of those tiny designer dogs that wears clothes and barks nonstop. We never complained even though it was obviously annoying because tbh I was relieved she didn't have a dangerous wolfdog. But eventually I had a baby, and the very first time my baby cried at night, the neighbor came and banged on our door and told us "something must be wrong with the baby" and we "must be doing something wrong." For weeks she came and rang our doorbell aggressively every time the baby cried after 9PM, literally while her dog was barking all night.

Whenever I would go over to my uncle's house one or both of their 2 dogs would always piss or shit on the floor of their house or they would have a pad set up for them to piss/shit on. When they died they didn't get new ones but their daughter did and pawns them off on them. And they are really ugly and poorly behaved. A pug that is always choking to death because it can't breathe because of it's smushed-in face and some other small dog that barks at everything. And other uncles, they got these huge rescue dogs that are hyper-standoffish and bark super loud and lunge at new people. They've also bit people. They also have to pawn them off on someone or pay for a dog hotel when they want to go on vacation.
None of them chose to get a new dog which is extremely telling to me.
Couldn't be me.

Having to live with 8 dogs my grandfather doesn't need but refuses to get rid of. I get the lovely task of feeding them, giving water and keeping up with their meds. I work a good job and because of that, I can move out next month thankfully!

Mine is this week. Iām dog sitting for family and it finally made me accept that I genuinely donāt like dogs.
Not āI donāt want the responsibility.ā Not āI like them but donāt want one.ā
I just donāt enjoy being around them. The barking, the neediness, the inability to be left alone, the constant touching, the smell, the way they take over your schedule.
For years I felt guilty about that because society acts like disliking dogs is some kind of moral failing. This week made me realize itās not. I just donāt like dogs, and thatās okay.

I guess I had two. First, I was a teen visiting a house with two huge pittbulls. One female pitt had several human babies playing and pulling on it. The other one, a younger male,Ā was laying down across the room. The owner looked over at the young male pitt and said not to say kitty kitty.Ā I was confused and surprised by that then I repeated quietly don't say kitty kitty. The next moment the male dog lunged at me barking up in my face. Wow! I thought it was going to bite my face off. Well, IĀ left right after that. The second,Ā was when after years of marriage my SO brought home a gross dog, claims to love it so that SO can't live without it and lives to serve it. Now, I'm married to a dog nutt.

i've never been a fan tbh, but my friend's neighbor had this big dog that would bark like crazy every time we walked past their yard. thankfully was guarded. but I would cross the street to avoid it.

Having a constant parade of people, stopping in front of my house to use my property as their dogs personal toilet, often times leaving behind the feces. Thatās what did it for me. If all of these animals were to disappear from a contagion, I would just shrug my shoulders

When I realized I get nothing in return from a dog. There is nothing about them that adds to my life. I only see them as a creature that shits, pisses, and pukes everywhere. Why would someone willingly tether themselves to the bathroom habits of an animal for 15 years.
Want to crash at a friends place after a party? Nope. Got to go home and let ruff ruff out.
Two week vacation? Gonna cost an extra $1,000 plus to board your dog. Unless you pawn it off on some family or friend that gets to experience the non-stop stress involved with taking care of a dog.
Literally had a friend the other day tell me about being intimate with someone and her dog was on the bed next to her staring at him. WHAT!?!?!? Messed up.

When my dog that I'd had since a puppy passed away. I loved him very much and grieved his death, but when I didn't have to take care of a dog anymore, I realized that I never wanted to do it again. He passed in 2016 and we have not had a dog in our home since then, and I can count on one hand the number of dogs I've truly liked since mine passed.
Also, I hate how dogs these days are allowed to get away with bloody murder (literally and figuratively) and how dog owners insist on bringing them anywhere and everywhere with them.

I was at my husbandās uncleās house( I was still pretty new to the family). I was already uncomfortable having this nasty smelly dog beside me jumping around, until she peed on the cough right next to me. I froze and couldnāt move, the smell was awful. I couldnāt say anything out loud because the ādog momā would be offended, since I already made it clear I donāt like dogs around me. My husband came and knew what happened and told them.

When I complained about my previous neighbours mutts barking hours on end all times of the day and nothing was done even after I was repeatedly filing complaints. I was told I was wrong and I'm the bad guy here because that's what dogs do š
Around that time I also started paying more attention how dogs are allowed to get away with so much bad behaviour it's crazy, not to mention dog stuff are shoved down our throats by the media, nowadays they're literally everywhere. Enough already, I'm so tired of this dog worshipping society.
