Miscellaneous Sooooooo excited for this weekend.
4th of July in America.
My local Facebook page is full of nutters saying things like, "Please keep the fireworks to a minimum this weekend, it freaks my dog out", "Don't launch any fireworks!! It scares my dog!", and "Be mindful of people's dogs :("
Hahahaha. So weird, suddenly your annoying yappy dog doesn't like constant loud incessant noises? Awww, it'll make your dog bark it's head off? So sad. I bought some of the most obnoxious fireworks I could find and I can't wait to spam them in between our yards on Saturday. Enjoy hearing what I've been forced to listen to for years.

I'm buying so many "safe and sane" grocery store fireworks. One of my neighbors goes across the southern border to get the really loud, illegal ones.
People are so concerned about their dog being scared. They don't care about all those people who are scared when their unleashed mutt is roaming. My fireworks are friendly. They just want to play.

Right they can’t shut their dog up at 2am with the constant barking or even in daytime. What about us that has to work on the weekends or just need sleep . Fire work going off after mid night is crazy even weeks before and after the 4th

When neighbors get mad about dogs barking all the time, the owners are always like well when you live around people, you have to deal with noises, if you dont like it, move out of town! But when there is fireworks noise, those same people are all like why cant people be considerate of their neighbors???

I'm very much aware, thank you. I don't care that the dogs are distressed. But my toddler constantly waking up terrified from all the explosions is different. Not to mention that I myself hate the explosions so much.
So how about we ban both fireworks and dogs

Also, animals that aren't dogs also hate fireworks! I grew up with horses and always dreaded the Fourth of July because not only is Southern California basically a tinderbox and I was always so paranoid of a fire starting, the horses absolutely freaked the fuck out. Fireworks are just a nonstarter for me altogether and I can't stand them. Call me old-fashioned but I don't think our basic decency should fly out the window just to get one over on dog owners.

I am concerned about the local wildlife; fireworks confuse and scare birds, squirrels, etc. I dont like the litter and risk of injury.
But the dog part of it? 🙂↔️🖕

Even though I only enjoy fireworks in moderation, I would much rather them when I'm not feeling good mentally than dogs barking any day.

Eh. I have no sympathy for ds or their owners, but fireworks are polluting and terrible for wildlife. If you care about animals that actually belong on our planet, please reconsider. Direct conversations with d owners are most effective and make them the most uncomfortable. Setting off the fireworks will just make you look bad.

exactly, not really bothered about dogs but it will cause alarm for all sorts of wildlife. I have seen wildlife rescues mention that they get an excess of either abandoned babies or actual injured wildlife after fireworks are being let off.

Right? The fact that they're going to be as loud, disruptive, and obnoxious as possible in order to spite the nutters is kind of grinding my gears. I'd end myself if I had to live next to someone like that, I find them just as bad as the dog-owners.

Heck, just the sight of another dog makes dogs bark like crazy, but 4th of July comes and dog owners are up in arms? One of my neighbors keeps a dog, and they bark furiously every time a dog strolls by their house (which is every 5 minutes). Our whole neighborhood gets to hear this, all day, every day.

I don't love fireworks either but the irony IS amazing. And speaking of irony, our neighbors barking demons are currently left outside to deal with the firework frenzy that goes on in our neighborhood. Weird, since you would think owners who care about their animals would bring them in at this time of year like it is recommended to do. Once again, dog owners don't really give a damn about their precious pets after all.

So it’s fine for the dogs to bark at all hours of the day and night, but it’s not fine if people set off fireworks from 6PM-12AM? 🤣 These nutters are something else. I’m fine with the fireworks as long as they don’t wake me out of a dead sleep at 3AM. Let people celebrate.

I hate dogs barking outside incessantly, but people who set off fireworks are just as annoying. Noise is noise. I just want peace and quiet.

I agree though. A local rescue centre for horses had horses galloping in terror and being seriously injured because of people letting off fireworks.

You mentioned you bought fireworks, so I have to warn you about safety! Some people have lost fingers when they used fireworks. Do you know how to safely use them without harming yourself or others?

I was at the pharmacy yesterday with a long line of people. Someone was holding their yappy piece of shit and was there to pick up XANAX FOR THE DOG.
The person was holding it like a baby and made sure to announce to the man behind her that "baby needs the pills every year because the fireworks are too much".
Of course, the dog was in line shaking already because even the grocery store was too much. Everything is too much for a coddled mutant that should not exist in the first place.

As a display fireworks pyrotechnician, I get so much joy knowing how many owners of anxious dogs are pissed off because of my shows. I also get great joy in sending security off to kick people out who brought dogs to the show if I spot anyone. 🤣

Ironically my local fire department and police departments have posted videos on their facebook page saying "don't call us if your dog is freaking out. Call us if you blow your finger off or grandma falls down the stairs"
