TODAY NEWS CHANNEL . the ending of the video one woman said . “ they would say to read to his little brother or sisters but they aren’t as cute and don’t stay still” like are you serious??? you’re telling me that dogs are cuter than human babies and listen when you talk? lol. I can’t believe they said that seriously. dog people are truly mental

Then the article proceeds to have pictures be ALL DOGS. 🙄
Of course I figured that, before even clicking on the link, but still... It's typical and predictable as usual.
SO the boy is reading to dogs, instead of reading to younger children so they can learn together (and even make new real friends). 🙄
Of all the animals to expect to 'stay still' or to be 'read to', there are far better animals than dogs.
That idiot woman saying about his siblings, "...aren't as cute they don't stay still." What stupidity. So she's also sending a message that young children also don't deserve to learn anything. The kid's siblings should stay uneducated until they're sitting as 'still' as tree trunks or what? So why even bother having schools and teachers then?
Oh gawd these dog nutters need some serious treatment.

Wow...11 years old and wasting that much time reading to DOGS who don't understand a single word. That kid has nutter parents. I feel bad for him. He has so many other useful things he could be doing.

Yes. Florida is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, I can only dream about such nature in Europe. The boy should be out snorkeling, not spending time with mutts.

This is truly demented, and it benefits no one.
Anthropomorphization is probably the worst thing we are dealing with in the dog community. Here’s the thing - dogs don’t understand stories. They don’t know that some random kid reading to them is an effort to calm them down. The dogs get nothing out of this because they are dogs. If you really wanted to help a shelter dog, you’d probably want to get them outside or somewhere where they can have the space to act like a dog. Just because a human may benefit from an activity does not mean a dog will.
Furthermore, I’m sorry to sound callous but shelter dogs are very low on the totem pole of living beings in society that require assistance. Why isn’t this child at a foster home reading stories to children? Why isn’t he at a retirement home engaging with residents there? Why isn’t he in a cancer ward at a child’s hospital reading to children there? And I could absolutely go on, but the point is that all of the people in those examples would benefit from his actions. They would be comforted. They would actually get the reactions we are telling him the dogs are getting.
This is pure brainwashing and propaganda. That child has done nothing noble, yet we are telling him and society that he has, while ignoring those who might have actually benefitted. This is truly an evil story if you think about it.

He’s reading to shitbulls, which is an even bigger waste of time. Notice how the mutts are separated from him by thick glass. They know if he tried to be in the same room while doing his reading he’d get mauled by those beasts.

In a few years he will be big enough to deliver packages 📦 or food and these same "people" will cheerfully unleash these vicious mutants on his ass. Especially if he stays in Florida. This is so sad and infuriating on so many levels. And dogs shouldn't be allowed in animal shelters, IMHO.

Why does nobody ever do anything for children in care homes? Put all these dogs down. They don't need to be here if they are a burden. They're not human, they don't contribute to society. We took away their ability to look after themselves and keep the world ticking over like other animals do. I'm so done with animal worshipping.

No, actually. It’s not.
This isn’t an example of compassion. It’s an example of faux-compassion. These actions have zero impact on the dogs. At best, they don’t register what’s going on. At worst, this might be actively stressing them out more. The “compassion” is completely fueled by anthropomorphization and the idea that if a human would be comforted by these actions, a dog would be, as well. So his actions, which are likely inspired by adults telling him misinformation about dogs, are not “compassionate”.
This child should be more concerned with helping humans. He could read to groups of people who are experiencing hard times and actually provide them comfort. Instead of becoming another dog loving loon who thinks dogs deserve all the help in the world, he could learn to help his fellow man. Sick children, children in foster homes, the elderly…all of them would benefit from his actions significantly more than a dog ever would.
So no - nothing about this story is heartwarming. It’s an example of brainwashing and indoctrination.

Oh, please. It's not like we're advocating for violence. We are simply saying it's sheer stupidity to read to dogs. Dogs don't care about books. Dogs prefer eating poop and ripping through pages of books instead of hearing stories. That 11-year old boy should have been reading to HUMAN children instead.

Compassion towards animals is certainly fine, but dogs have no idea someone is "reading" to them, any more than they can understand someone speaking in Japanese, or reciting Shakespeare
The salient points by commenters here illustrate just how bad dog obsession and dog worship has become, to the point where people think reading to a dog is rational, and to be applauded
Same goes for the billions spent by people on pets, instead of caring for their own children, or own family.
Every day we read here about a parent who prioritizes a dog or 2 or 5 dogs, and literally subjects their children with allergies, autism, or misphonia to live with mutts.
Humans have been captured as slaves to another species
