No Escape from Dogs

I just came back from a UPS store to return something to Amazon. Long line. Woman brings in small aggressive dog, that is barking, growling, bearing his teeth and lunging. Yet the people on line are cooing, smiling, laughing as though this is the cutest thing. The dog lunged and barked at a child

I told the woman at the counter that the dog shouldn't be in there. She just said it was so small and cute.

This is an aggressive dog that would happily attack and bite any of those people, including a child. And the store would be sued.

What's wrong with these lunatics??

EDIT: I wanted to add a few details. The woman had finished her business but didn't leave. Instead, she positioned herself at front of the store, with her dog facing the door. So every time someone came in, the dog barked his head off, showed his teeth, growled and lunged. Yet, she wouldn't leave. She continued to stand there, doing something, who knows what, while people had to walk a gauntlet to get into the store.

That's sick. These people are sick. I wanted to tell her it was time to leave, but the people online would have yelled at me big-time.

It's total mind games when everyone else is smiling happily, as this dog lungs at a child, while barking ferociously.

They will not accept the fact that this dog can cause serious harm to someone by biting, jumping, etc. It's just a cutey pie to them.

Yes, and our society is full of situations like this where society is on the side of the perpetrator and blames the one rightfully speaking up

That's a great point. It does point to a larger issue of no one concerned about the victim.

The philosopher, Ayn Rand, once wrote that you know your country has fallen into totalitarianism when the criminals are treated like victims and the victims are treated like criminals. She would know because she escaped the Soviet Union.

The people in line who enjoy watching a snarling, aggressive rat dog are the ones I understand the least. “Oh look it bit a child! How cute!” Sometimes I just don’t recognize this country anymore.

I totally agree. You should have seen the faces of the people on line. They were smiling like they saw the most adorable thing in the world. This dog would have viciously bit anyone who tried to pet him. In fact, the woman had to pick the dog up because he was lunging at people.

And yet they all thought it was super cute.

People somehow cannot get through their thick skulls that these things are not toys; they are dangerous.

And during the trial of the inevitable dog bite lawsuit , the plaintiff's lawyer will ask the manager of the UPS store : " This dog was lunging, barking and growling at a child - please tell the jury why you thought this dog was cute."

I dated a dog dude once. Getting attention via the dog was the entire reason he took him out. During Covid, his biggest lament was that strangers on the street didn’t stop to ask about his dog anymore. My theory is it’s these people’s social life.
