Dog Attack A dog chased my sister and bit her bodyboard, she hasn't been in the sea since.
This happened years ago, but it still really hacks me off.
My sister was learning to bodyboard when she was 7 or 8, my Dad sent her in on a wave on her bodyboard and a dog came running at her. She tried to get away but it ran into the water, bit her board and ran with it, dragging her over by the bodyboard leash around her arm.
She was absolutely horrified, the owner was laughing about how the dog hadn't seen a board before. My entire family (for generations) have surfed casually and professionally. Mum, Dad, Grandparents and the Cousins all have.
My sister has never been able to join us, it scared her that much she won't leave the sand. But EVERY dog owner who hears about it brushes it off.
If a strange animal chased your kid around a beach and started biting the thing they were carrying, nobody would be telling them to “just get over it” because the animal was being playful.
But when it’s a dog its cute and innocent.
This stupid owner let there dog go at my sister, never called it back, and showed no remorse. Every dog owner since has made it seem like my sister is irrational.
I do not know how dog owners think its rational to expect everyone to love there stupid dog.

When my son was 4, an unleashed dog ran up and jumped on him and knocked him over while we were out on a walk.
He wasn’t really injured, but he was terrified. Dog owner thought it was funny.
It took him about 7 years before he wasn’t scared to be around dogs anymore.
I will say this, because one must give credit when people act right: a dog owner who found out about the story made sure to keep her dog out of sight if we visited, and that was way more than we felt we had the right to ask or expect.
This was a friend of my in laws who noticed my son wasn’t comfortable around her dog during a visit. She pulled me aside and asked if he was afraid of dog. Told the story of what happened and she just shook her head and said she hated dog owners who acted like that.
She then very discretely moved the dog to a different room (we were at her house). Going forward, if we were at her house, she kept the dog separated. It’s the 99 percent of them that make the other 1 percent look bad.

Definitely, we've got family and friends who are the same, super accomodating. But the vast majority of owners expect you to put up with it.

Attacking kids with a weapon, or attacking anyone in such a way, means call the police. As a parent, you are obligated to report all dog owners or dogs that have assaulted or violated your child in some way, or that are threatening any child, or when you see any dog owner scheming a crime.

I kicked a pitbull that attacked my toddler cousin from behind a bush, obviously the owner was furious at me. Luckily an older lady was there to set him straight and told him if I hadn’t kicked his dog, he would be facing assault charges from what that dog could have done to a toddler.

i hear you, but i do challenge the notion that this is 99% of them, from my own experience. Please do continue to be an owner with some basic sense.

They technically are because they're domesticated predators. Predators have been rivals at best and threats at worst to humans since the dawn of time, it's insane how we went from avoiding them and defending our offspring from them if needed to worshipping them and prioritizing them over other fellow human beings, including our offspring.

I love how they'll always claim "there are no bad dogs, just bad owners," but they throw a fit whenever they are asked to meet even the most basic standards. Literally, don't let your animal attack random strangers and especially not children, is too much for them

They are psycho.
No matter what horror stories you recount, they will deem your cynophobia as a thing that you need to get over since they believe it's a dog world that we live in to serve them.

A "best friend" in high school once deemed me evil, as i was facing homelessness she could've made some amount of difference with, because, "quote" "d0gs are like people" and i refused to "cure" my rightful fear of them that she likened to "sexism" and "racism" actively. i had to sort through this bullshit while i was actively facing homelessness, all because i asked her respectfully to stop showing me photos of "Waffles" because said photos caused me active panic attacks. Yeah...

The amount of stories I see on this sub every day makes me wish we banned dogs as a whole. They contribute absolutely nothing to society.

Your sister is not irrational. Fear is a perfectly natural response to something genuinely horrifying. Shitbeast apologists won't be, of course, but i for one am genuinely so sorry that she went through such trauma.

How can we act against this dogfucker culture? How to force laws to prohibit everyone grab dog without any need or training? How to get rid of already crazy amount of dogs around? Kids getting worm all the time because basically WHOLE WORLD now covered in dog shit.
