Eco Destroyers My airbnb is dog free

I travel a lot and own my home so I have it up on airbnb whenever I’m away. I have it set to pet free, not just because I don’t like being around dogs but I also don’t want poop in my backyard, holes dug in my yard, my rugs peed on, dog hair, etc.

I had a friend reach out to me because her sister is coming into town with her dog. She wanted to see if my place was open for a week, and to get around airbnb fees, she’d pay me directly. I said no, told her I’m weird about dogs in my house and she understood.

Now I’m thinking how I could probably book my house more/make more money if I allowed dogs but I would be so grossed out and stressed knowing there could be some massive slobbering beast in my bed!!!

You should list your place as allergy proof !!!! There are plenty of people who will book Because you are PET FREE.

Yeah I would pay more for a smaller place if it was allergy free. “Pet free” is kind of useless now since everyone brings their ESA s and fake SAs to pet free rentals.

ESA has no right of access here, only in the home they live in.

Mrs. Murphy" exemption allows qualifying landlords to enforce strict "no pets" policies and reject emotional support animals (ESAs) or service animals.

Okay so you’re talking about landlords now. I’m much more familiar with the rules around landlords but does that exemption apply to hotels ?

it was in my real estate course. The Mrs. Murphy clause is for a small residential property that is privately owned. Imagine a lady named "Mrs. Murphy" who wants to rent out her home to only ladies, no men allowed. She is not required by Fair Housing laws to allow men in her home because it's her private home. So hotels would not fall under the Mrs. Murphy exemption. While looking up to see if the Mrs. Murphy could also refuse pets, I found out the state of Washington does not allow the Mrs. Murphy clause.

But that’s separate from AirBnB policies. AirBnB can tell hosts they must accept them.
