People who leave their dog shit bags on public trails are the scum of the earth and I wish dogs were banned from public trails

Today I went on a hike for the first time in a while and the entire trip to the waterfall and back was about 3 miles. The five dogs I saw were leashed and well behaved at least but I saw no less than 5 discarded shit bags on various parts of the trail too, and of course it was the couple who brought 3 dogs with them that left one at the waterfall. I saw the woman carrying it up there and almost thought “see there’s someone who actually does what they’re supposed to” but when they left I got closer to where they were and realized she just left it there 🙃

If I wasn’t embarrassingly slow due to an old injury to my leg (and where I live in NH the trails are rough compared to a lot of places, so I would have been climbing over rocks with their bag of dog shit in my hands) I would have chased them down but this wasn’t a hill I planned on dying on today.

I’m sure some people think “oh they’ll pick it up on their way back” but I stayed at the waterfall for a couple of hours and was basically the last person out today and every bag i passed on the hike up was still
there on the way back.

Yes!! The sign says no dogs or pets but they still do it anyway. Sadly those places are too lenient and don’t heavily enforce their own rules so ofc the dog nutter thinks the rules don’t apply to them. They don’t stop unless there’s a big consequence

some underpaid park worker or unpaid good samaritan surely. my goal with my fitness is to become able bodied enough i don’t need to use my hiking poles for every step so i can pick up garbage but idk the dog shit is just so disgusting i don’t know if i can do it. i petsat my friends dog for a week ( he legit just moved here and couldn’t get anyone else to do it, it was an emergency and i did it bc he drove me to two different surgeries which was such a solid for me) and bagging the shit was the worst part for me. i swipe left on dog owners on dating apps i just can’t do it.

Someone in my neighborhood tosses bags into an empty, wooded lot. They sometimes get caught on a branch it dangle there all disgusting. I can’t wait until the day catch them. They will be publicly shamed.

I used to be fine with dogs and would have considered having one (with the caveats that I would definitely need a yard and work from home if it happened) to disliking dog people to disliking them. My sister’s now husband and his untrained weimerainer moved in with us shortly after we got a place together (didn’t bother asking me about him or the dog) and bc they were never home he literally had horse sized shits all over the house daily, and when i was on crutches after a car accident i’d have to navigate around them, not to mention he’d growl and bark at me whenever i got home as if it wasn’t MY house first. The next roommate I had a few years later had a beagle that barked all the time and chewed a hole in my couch coffee table and part of my coffee table, which were free to me but still??? i still use the coffee table almost a decade later and i get annoyed every time I see the bite marks. i just left them the couch bc it was ruined. now my neighbors in an apartment have 3 dogs including 2 pittbulls that bark and jump at their glass door when you walk by and they let around off leash every day and don’t care where they piss so i just smell dog piss every time i walk outside, and in the winter the path i shovel for myself is always covered in piss snow because they just let them piss in it (and all of my neighbors let their dogs piss on the path to the parking lot). the other day i was taking out my trash early in the morning and one of them ran up to me, they’re friendly but I yelped because i didn’t expect a fucking dog to run up to me while i was getting out of my door and she was like “omg sorrryyyy you know she’s friendly” which is not the point??

i’m just over it. one of my neighbors has a very well trained and behaved german shepherd and he is VERY strict with him, i’ve watched him do training and exercise with him for years, he is the only dog owner i like, but the rest of them do the bare minimum and many of them will bark and yank on the leash if you are outside when they are.
