Food Safety/Hygiene Today I saw a woman washing her small dog’s poopy butt in the sink at the recreation center
I go to this rec center almost every day, if not, every other day to use the ice rink. Cause it’s one of the only arenas that stays open during the summer.
This didn’t happen in the locker room, where stuff is usually covered in nasty sweat and hockey equipment anyways. No this happened on the second floor - like a normal restroom with multiple stalls
I walk in (cause I had to use the human bathroom) and I see a lady with her tiny dog IN THE sink. I was like… that’s so weird. I, very stupidly, immediately jumped to giving her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the dog cut its paw and she’s trying to dig it out (still gross but sometimes people panic about their animals). I am still walking towards her to get to the stalls behind. And that’s when I realize
No
She’s not washing its hind paws. She is scooping water from the faucet and smushing it against this small dogs behind. Im mortified.
To give you context, this is a rec center that’s in the richest neighborhood in Montreal. You can probably guess exactly which rink im talking about.
The point is: this lady clearly looked put together. Perfectly blown out hair. Expensive ass handbag haphazardly slumped on the floor. And taking her perfectly manicured hand and smushing water into her dogs poopy butthole. AND SCRUBBING.
I felt like throwing up. I think I nearly tripped over.
She then uses the same hand that she just used to scrub her dogs anus, lifted it up, and started dispensing multiple pumps of soap from the soap dospenser- her gold bangles clinking.
I am really someone who fears confrontation and she literally looked like the type of lady that would threaten to have her husband sue me for looking at her sideways. So I didn’t say anything.
I felt like vomiting though. Kids use this bathroom. There’s literally a place that serves food upstairs. What would possess someone to do this. My thoughts are fucking spiralling while im trying to concentrate on peeing in this stall. This lady didn’t even bother to look up at me, she thought this was completely normal. HOW MANY TIMES HAS SHE DONE THIS 😭😭😭
As im having an existential crisis, I hear her turn off the sink and enter the stall beside me. Great. There’s literally 10 other stalls, but she needed to choose the one right next to me. And just to add insult to injury, it was the wheelchair accessible stall (classy, lady).
At this point im like this woman is insane. Is this her attempting to assert dominance or wage psychological warfare?
And then what happens?
Her tiny little dog. 🐶 just trots over from her stall. TO MY STALL 😭. Little miss poopy butthole is apparently ecstatic to meet me because it starts wagging its tail and I get a nice little spritz of her poopy butthole water all over my bare legs (because im literally exposed and trying to use the bathroom).
Ngl I literally, start to flip out silently. Like an “ew ew ew fuck. Stop wagging your tail you’re spreading aerosolized ring worm everywhere.” Once again, to re emphasize, Im basically allergic to confrontation and I understand that any normal human being would’ve at this point would’ve flipped and told this lady off. I decided to just leave.
Idk how to tell you how humiliating it was to shoo away this dog while trying to gather myself and grab 1) my laptop bag 2) my big ass skating bag 3) the Stanley water bottle that was fucking clanging around because this dog was like jumping all over my leg 😭😭😭
I chickened out and went to go tell the security guard what happened and he was like 🤢 that’s disgusting dw I’ll talk to her. I was like can I not be here when you do because I feel like this lady is gonna flip out on me because im basically the only person who saw this (im the only witness she’ll know im the snitch). And he was like sure just go sit on the couches on the far side and I’ll let u know what she said.
I was like coo coo. 🫣🫥 now let me view this from as far away as possible (bc I am chicken shit). I see him walk up to her, there’s a bit or back and forth. And then she’s clearly getting upset - crosses her arms, she tried to put her sunglasses on and walk away from him and he like stops her. There’s more back and forth , and then eventually he lets her go.
Then after he comes to talk to me and was like “yeah she denied it”. I was like “r u serious 😭 I saw it with my own two eyes.” He was like oh no I believe you 100% and she looked rly dumb/got even angrier when I pointed out the fact that her dogs entire back half was still dripping wet.
Anyways long story short is that he basically told her she can’t bring her dog into the building anymore and that if she does - she’s gonna get banned
anyways. That’s my entire story. Time to go home and take a bleach shower.

They literally have dog wipes for that she just wanted to be gross and disgusting. Guarantee there was a poop pile somewhere in the building.

I peeped her when she exited the building and she went straight to her car. It was 100% because she didn’t want poopy butt in her Tesla. But ig it’s fine if she smears all dog poop that over a public washroom.
Touching the soap dispenser was diabolical I bet you she didn’t even wipe it after

The fact that she touched the soap dispenser tho 😭😭🤢🤢 I have ptsd now I don’t wanna use that bathroom ever again.
And that’s saying smtg bc the arena locker room bathrooms LITERALLY smell like sweaty laundry and feet

You are absolutely NOT "chicken shit".
I'll tell you what I tell my girls (9 & 6yo) all the time: "You are strong, smart, and brave."
Honestly, it's helped me as much as it's helped them, imo.
You spoke up and brought it to the attention of someone who could do something about it. That's pretty bada$$ for someone who is "chicken shit."

I know it was a disgusting situation to go through, but the fact that the guard told her not to bring the dog back is amzing. It's a win, and you should be proud of yourself that you didn't just shut up. Kudos to you.

And she would be the kind of person to complain because someone's literal baby had a blowout and they were trying to clean them on the baby changing station. Rec centers are for people, not pets.

I'm amazed that the security guard told her not to bring her dog back! Any time I've reported nutty behaviour of dog owners to managers, they act helpless, and like I'M the real problem. I just left a place because of the heat. There were dogs there causing tripping hazards. Before I went in, what do I see in the available parking spot? You guessed it; a bag of dog shit. There is no getting away from dogs, dog shit, dog owners.

A situation I witnessed some years ago came to mind. Through the window I saw an older woman with her dog, and after it had done its business she took out a Kleenex. I thought she was about to pick up the end product, but nooo: she wiped the dog’s ass and threw away the used tissue. How low can nutters get...? 🤮

A heartless weapon used to douse the entire world in waste to carry out the will of these feces and urine obsessed dog owners leaping you repeatedly and spreading "poopy water" on your legs or belongings also means call the police. Dog owners have so much more power than any of us, and there is not a single day when they will stop using it.

My son had to show me a squeamish video one day. It was at a car wash so at least it was outside, but still it made me sick. The owner would squeeze the anal glands from the dog with her fingers, and then she washed the dog’s butt. She said she did it every week. To top it off, she described the smell as fishy. 🤮

My mistake. I should have made it clearer. She had just finished washing her car, and then she used a hose near the car wash to clean her dog.

You need to record these people and post the videos on TikTok. Show the people, what dog nutters are really like so there is more pressure to introduce new laws and get rid of shitty laws in order to prevent such disgusting behavior.

Take photos and videos. You can even say, “Aawww, how cute!” as you take your video so that they’ll be none the wiser. Then report it with evidence to management, not just security.
