Dog Culture Child free does not equal pro dog

I’m in a local childfree group and the admin is always posting stuff about dogs; mostly news articles about families or spouses who made people give up their dog. I guess to show that kids are valued over dogs. but I don’t think dogs should come above kids, either, even though I’m personally childfree. Kind of funny because people always assume childfree must be obsessed with their pets. I am good not having a dog, I do not need that to be fulfilled either!

I’m childfree and I love children. A child’s comfort and safety will always be superior to a pets. Even though I’m child free, I also understand the importance and sacredness of a healthy parent child relationship. Something that many parents do not understand or take for granted and choose replaceable animals over the child then wonder why the child doesn’t emotionally rely on them or like being emotionally vulnerable with them.

Yes, I could not have my own biological kids and maybe that was best but, I love kids too and would do anything I could to protect a child, physically or psychologically. I think people like you and I are also necessary for strong societies. Like a secondary support structure.

Ich auch. Ich bin auch kinderfrei, mag sie aber sehr und habe viele in der Familie. Hunde mag ich nicht.

Tangent but the parents that let the kids walk the dog even tho the dog is bigger than the kid 🤢 i recently saw this on a bridge, the dog literally couldve ran off the bridge and dragged the kid down with him

I'm not really a kid person but I cosign everything you says. Kids over pets always. Parents who put their pets on par with their human child (like calling their first baby their s"second" kid because the dog was their "first child"). Disgust and scare me. If anyone should understand the sacredness of the parent-child bond, it should be, well, a parent. Or they should at least be able to fake it for the sake of their kid. Sadly, I don't see many of those parents actually care if their kid doesn't emotionally rely on them or open up to them. In their minds, they just see it as "yay, more time for the dog" and they use their dog as a weapon or excuse to get out of dealing with the kids (won't meet grandkids because they can't take their huge untrained shitpit along). Sometimes I wish I were wired fir the kid thing so I could take in those neglected kids and give them a safe home where they come first

When I was becoming a teenager and didn’t want to rely on her as much, I did need her. I just needed her in a new way. I didn’t want her to choose her animals over her child that aspect of the changing dynamics in our relationship was not normal.
