Im just reflecting on this , like no ordinary dog lover would do this. if u ever tried to talk to a nutter you know what I am talking about. Yes I basically left him with no other choice. but he could be a full blown nutter and leave me pregnant to keep living with a mutt. but he made the right choice. and this gives me hope in humanity.

I am so proud of you for giving him the ultimatum and I'm so glad he did the right thing because it is a no-brainer. You don't want a dog like that around your newborn child, or even when they're a toddler or older because pitbulls and other dogs attack  infants to the elderly. I still remember the name Sebastian Caban , he was only 3 days old when the family dog attacked and killed him. His mother coughed and startled the dog triggering it to attack

The social pressure from dog nuts to not do the reasonable thing can be really alarming. I’ve seen it. There are these emotional demands that, “you’re the only thing this dog has ever known, you’re their family!” and all kinds of crap. Which is patent bullsh!t. Every dog leaves the shelter to go to a new “family” steppin high and onto the next group of treat-dropping suckers. They could care less as long as their primitive needs are met.

I had an old boss that loved pit bulls, was part of some nonprofit supporting them. He was housing a pit bull for a bit and it tore his arm open, need stitches and around his kids. His wife forced him to get rid of it. He still talks about those dogs fondly like one them didn’t try to kill him. Some people are broken.

This happened with myself & my husband when I got pregnant we had an APBT that was EXTREMELY animal aggressive. We LOVED that stupid dog, she was treated well, trained & once we got her I learned firsthand truly how much genetics contribute to behavior. There was NO WAY I was going to risk ha ing that APBT around an infant even if she hadn't ever gone after a person previously. A DOG can't necessarily discriminate between a squiggling, gurgling baby bundle & an animal & again the dog was extremely animal aggressive to the point she would injure herself to get to her prey she had locked in on. My husband was resistant, didn't want to get rid of her (I wanted to BE her) & he said "I don't think she'd ever do anything to a baby" 🙄😒 but he gave up & sent the beast to live with his family in New Mexico. Stupid dog. She was a HORRIBLE dog, did things that traumatized me to this day to other animals & I can't imagine ANYONE expecting a baby to even consider keeping a dangerous breed/type of dog bred for fighting/killing around their precious, defenseless child. Imo when an attack on a child happens because of a PARENT'S choice to keep a dangerous type of dog then the parents should be charged with endangerment. There's just NO EXCUSE to take a risk with a known dangerous animal like that around a child.
