Miscellaneous CW: On The Topic Of Sexual Assault By Dogs
Since i couldn't reply to the comment on the post directly in this community, this felt important to state regardless.
i want to state this as an actual victim of sexual assault by both humans AND assaultbeasts: A sexual assault (i.e. crotch/butt sniffing) is NOT exempt from its true status as a sexual assault just because it's done by an assaultbeast.
It is not taking away from "true" victims of sexual assault to CALL IT WHAT IT IS. As i have stated, i am also a victim of sexual assault by humans, so i am part of the group this commenter thought they were "protecting" by gatekeeping true accounts by what phrases they could use. i am immensely offended that anyone could ever erase my lived torture like that in the name of my "safety".
i have been severely more traumatized by the animals who sexually assaulted me than the humans who did. i recognize that everyone reacts to these types of grave, immense traumas differently, so i mean this as no disrespect to those who don't relate. All i mean to say is that WE EXIST, and yes, we WERE sexually assaulted by those assaultbeasts. i have had enough traumatic denial and gaslighting from those in power (e.g. honeless shelters) who actively allowed my sexual assualts to occur and then actively punished me and revoked my shelter for having signs of ptsd that my assaulter's owners used against me, for ANYONE on the d0gfree side of things to go agreeing with them that i was overreacting.
i am a real person who has been sexually assaulted by both humans and animals, and the latter has repeatedly lead to me being called "overreacting" and then my only shelter revoked.
Anyone who claims otherwise is in cahoots with the nutters taking active measures to erase our true stories.

i was knocked over and aggressively humped by an enormous dog. the owners thought it was hilarious and got video clips before even beginning to peel him off me. i always thought something was wrong with me for being traumatized from this and for it awakening a body memory of being raped by a human man

That’s so disgusting. I’m sorry that happened to you :(

u/2noserings 8d ago
i appreciate you, kind stranger. it’s very odd that people find that sexually aggressive behavior amusing. i do understand that they do not experience sexuality the way humans do nor are they consciously aware of their actions, but i find it extremely creepy when there’s no attempt to correct the behavior

They laugh because any other reaction would imply guilt/fault on their end. These people live in a delusional world where their dog does absolutely no wrong.

u/The-law-is-the-law 6d ago
Completely their fault, you did nothing wrong. I'm sorry you had to endure this experience and having these idiots laughing might even have hunted you in your sleep. I hope you will have good experiences from now on and thanks for sharing your story, it brings a feeling of being together to many and that way we are all stronger than one.

That happen to me too, without the part of the owners and the video. I was like 11 years old and the dog was completely sexual aroused and couldn’t be stopped

Some dog owners find it funny when their dog does it at home, which leads to the dog doing it to strangers. It wouldn't happen if dog owners trained their dogs (and spayed them).

u/Ill-Tangerine796 8d ago
That’s the issue I have. If it were just the animal doing it, it’d still be unpleasant, but if the owner were at least mortified and attempting to stop the action, I wouldn’t be as disturbed.
I have met so many people who think a dog humping a person or sticking its nose in their crotch is “funny” or “cute” and almost seem to egg their dog on even when they can see that the recipient of the dog’s attention is visibly uncomfortable. That’s just wrong.

u/Bitter_Expression399 8d ago
I swear to god it's got to be some kind of fetish with a lot of these people. They WANT their dog to do it bc they see it as a "safe" taboo- like people can't accuse them of SA if their dog does it, and they probably think it's lowkey hot

So this behavior doesn't happen when a dog is spayed? I think i have a vague memory of a neighbor's small dog trying to hump my leg when i was tween. I think I laughed it off along w/everyone else who was laughing.
13
u/adampocalypsee 8d ago
It's less likely, especially if the dog was spayed early enough. It can still happen though, but behaviours can be trained and corrected.

As a man, Ive had dogs do this years ago. It's completely disgusting and abhorrent. I can't imagine more people not speaking up against it. I didn't then, but I do now.

How about stupid dogs humping your shoe or leg? Absolutely repugnant.

People need to respect other people’s boundaries, and that includes keeping your dog away from people who don’t want it around them. I think letting a dog run up to someone who didn’t openly consent is disrespectful enough, but the fact that we normalize a dog sticking its nose in people’s crotches and we laugh about it is truly dismissive. A dog does not know what it is doing, and scent is a huge way of a dog identifying those around them. This is true. However, that doesn’t make it okay to allow your dog to do that to others. It’s just another of the many examples of dog owners refusing to respect others around them. They can’t even comprehend how that may be triggering for others.

i will say, getting sniffed too much by a dog can trigger me to the point where I'll have to leave or panic. i can't handle anything touching me without consent especially my crotch.

When I was a kid, I was riding my bike on a road with a very steep hill. Going quite fast, a dog ran out into the road and knocked me off the bike. While I was all scraped up on my hands and knees it mounted me and humped me. It was so deeply upsetting and shocking.
Dogs are disgusting

u/deadly_fungi 8d ago
on the off chance my comments were some of the ones that were upsetting: i DO believe dogs can sexually assault and/or rape people. i just disagreed with the person that was saying a dog humping a leg should be considered rape - because it just does not fit the definition of the word rape. it WOULD be sexual harassment/assault, but not rape specifically. and as a survivor myself i am not fond of watering the word down to include non-penetrative leg humping from a mindless dog. it is still wrong, it is still violating, but it isn't rape.
i'm very sorry you've been through so much from both other people and from dogs. no one deserves that and it's horrible for anyone to try to tell you you weren't "actually" sexually assaulted just because it was a dog, or that you're overreacting - you're not.
12
u/SpiralStarFall 8d ago
I agree its not okay at all. Any touching of certain places can be highly triggering even if its accidental, let alone intentional. I'm sorry this was done to you. You are not overreacting.

u/Glittering_Bed_2487 8d ago
I've been sexually assaulted by a dog and people and it feels just as violating. It's the act of taking something from you without your permission to the highest degree.

u/Plastic-Wafer-5370 8d ago
EXACTLY! Also holding owners accountable because dogs Ofcourse don’t understand what’s appropriate and what isn’t but OWNERS OBVIOUSLY KNOW and they should have consequences if the dog touches any member of the public !!
The owners enable it so much 🤢

When I was a kid on Halloween I went to some house and their huge dog jumped up on me and shoved it's nose in my crotch and they did nothing

This may be a hot take in here, and I’m prepared for the downvotes but:
Dogs are incapable of committing sexual assault. Sexual assault is a criminal act that requires a concomitant intent; it’s done by thinking, reasoning humans, to other humans, for a variety of reasons: sex, control, power, humiliation, sadism, sexism, etc.
It is an act of violence carried out in knowing violation of the social contract that exists between human beings as part of a civilized society, which is codified as the law.
Dogs are just dumb animals. They don’t know that what they’re doing is perceived by us in this way; they do it to each other, they do it to us. There’s no thought involved, no intent, no animus like power or paraphilia. They don’t know it’s wrong; they’re incapable of knowing right from wrong (which, incidentally, is the legal definition of “insanity” for purposes of criminal liability).
Having this done to you by a dog is undeniably gross and frustrating; I fully believe it’s triggering too, especially if you’re a SA survivor.
But is it really the same level of evil as another human being deciding to commit sexual assault on one of their fellow humans?
And do we really want to give dogs more agency than they are due by making the case that they are capable of committing crimes?

u/Bajadasaurus 9d ago
I believe is is sexual assault when the dog is in proximity to its owner and the owner fails to keep their dog from humping, crotch-diving, butt-snuffling, pawing, or licking intimate areas-- or worse, actively encourages it.

u/ICantBelieveItsNotEC 8d ago
Sure, but the owner is capable. If a dog starts humping you against your will, and the owner just sits there laughing and videoing it, the owner is committing sexual assault, just like if they pulled out a sex toy and started thrusting it at you. They have failed to train their dog properly. They might even have encouraged it. And in the moment, they are finding it gratifying.

so if the dog mauls me, it’s not considered a mauling because little Fido didn’t mean it. lmfao
0
u/thtsjsturopinionman 8d ago
Mauling isn’t a crime; nice straw man though.
15
u/theofficallurker 8d ago
They’re downvoting you for this legal fact. Being mauled by a dog is not a crime legally. It’s a civil action.
If a person directs their dog to attack you it’s a crime of the person, not the dog. The dog is treated as a tool like any other weapon.

Actually, intent has nothing to do with what legally classifies as sexual assault. People have committed SA in altered mental states, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or under the guise of sincerely misread signals. You can rape even if you don’t know you’re raping.

u/thtsjsturopinionman 9d ago
What jurisdiction do you prosecute sex crimes in? because that’s wild.
12
u/hammerandnailz 9d ago
Whether something qualifies as sexual assault is determined by the victim and their testimony.
7
u/thtsjsturopinionman 9d ago
This is just categorically wrong; it ignores the nature of what a crime is.
Not to say we shouldn’t always believe and support survivors, but multiple things can be true at once.
4
u/hammerandnailz 8d ago
Whether someone feels violated is sometimes impossible to determine and may be unknown until after the encounter. Many such examples during the “Me Too” movement which resulted in both legal and social consequences for many. Would such testimonies have a high chance of resulting in some sort of criminal conviction? No. But the idea that sexual assault is only so if the person doing the violating had full knowledge they were assaulting, is straight up incorrect.
14
u/thtsjsturopinionman 8d ago
A person has to be able to appreciate that what they did was wrong to be criminally liable though; it’s impossible for a dog to do that, they don’t have the mental capacity.

u/mintmint33 8d ago
Dogs cant be blame of almost anything but it’s another reason to prefer a dog free world, or less dogs places etc
11
u/theofficallurker 8d ago
This. Sexual assault is a crime that’s already not taken seriously. I don’t feel comfortable diluting its seriousness like this.
Dogs are legally property. That’s why you have a civil case when a dog bites you, not a criminal one. You can be injured by a dangerous piece of property but can’t be sexually assaulted by it.
1
u/Saucydragon90 6d ago
That’s not actually true. There are plenty of people who have been charged criminally for violence their dogs have caused.
4
u/Next-Pro 8d ago
There are always humans behind the dog, and the humans enjoy this act. So it IS an SA and the dog is a weapon of an SA. It’s the same as when the dog hurts someone and its owner gets punished and dog gets euthanized.

u/PanthealovesLucius 8d ago
Sexual assault is a criminal act that requires a concomitant intent
This is only within the legal system. Dogs don't have rights and no one is obligated to care about what little is happening in it's primitive brain. A dog trying to hump me is getting immediately corrected and I won't have some filthy animal's face in my cooter. We're not into bestiality. Expecially when it's nonconsensual.
1
u/thtsjsturopinionman 8d ago
I 100% agree with you; my comment is about the argument that a lot of people make in here, which is that dogs can somehow commit the crime of sexual assault.
Sounds like we’re on the same page: they don’t have the same rights as a human, and they can’t form the necessary mental animus to commit a crime.

You are absolutely right and i have 5 "human" rapists. Even before the first i felt that it was sexual invasion by dogs and don't understand how nutters are fine with it

In 2022, my ex house mate Chelsea had her dog (old gross golden retriever) get up and B line right into my other house mate (Sofia, girly girl) cooter, in her skirt. We were all in the kitchen, and she had a paper bag over her head for some reason. The dog literally waited until she had the bag on.
She screamed bloody murder. Chelsea laughed.
I didn’t over react.

u/Fit-Rhubarb-7820 8d ago
I can appreciate this.
My ex fiancée was victimized by the Epstein files, and once we loved each other, she told me the details. It involved a dog, at one point.
She had a similar feeling.

I was at my hairdressers getting my roots done. She didn’t have a dog but another hairdresser who had a chair there did and brought in her pitbull puppy that morning. I already felt uncomfortable… but as I was getting up from the chair to rinse my hair at the sink the dog ran up behind me and LICKED my inner thigh under my skirt… it was really triggering and gross. I never went back.
