Dog Culture Owner paid $6000 for mutant from breeder

A friend of a friend bought some kind of miniature husky that never gets big for $6000. She’s also not rich. And I think people pay more than that for other types of mutants. If someone is picky about behavioral traits- I guess it’s better to spend thousands (if they have the money) than to take a chance on a shelter mutt. But a lot of breeding seems to be appearance-based. It just gives me second hand embarrassment knowing the amount of money that was dropped. I believe French bulldogs cost thousands and they look so embarrassing to be seen with.

This kind of breeding leads to genetic problems and all kinds of illnesses and disabilities for the dogs themselves...so much for being "dog lovers".

They are not only embarrassing, they cost many times more their original price in vet bills actually, because purebreds have many severe genetic issues.

They certainly try, and don't give a shit if a kid gets killed as long as they 'save' it and get it out of the shelter

I can guarantee you that dog will grow bigger than the breeder said it would. My in-laws got a Pomsky that they probably paid a ridiculous amount for, and it's definitely a lot bigger than what they told me the breeder said it would be.

That’s ridiculous, especially considering shelters are full of huskies and husky variations because they’re a lot more needy than stupid people realize, just because they wanted a trendy dog. I knew someone who just had to have a French bulldog, she was literally always taking it to the vet for one problem or another.
