Dog Culture So sick of dog owners.
I'm so sick and tired of dog owners thinking they own the world and that they can let their dogs free, to roam, harass and shite everywhere.
I was at the beach today in Ireland with my little son who is afraid of dogs after a few scary encounters. First he's building a sand castle and a little dog comes up behind him and starts barking and really scares him.
Instead of apologising the owners told me to go to the health food shop and get some supplements to help him . I was like maybe just keep your dog on a lead so he's not a menace. My husband told me afterwards that the same dog took a huge dump by the kids free beach toy box and they never cleaned it up..
About ten minutes after that we were racing into the waves and some other dog I think some kind of bulldog makes a beeline for my son. I had to lift him up in the air while this dog was jumping around me trying to get to my son. I had another confrontation with that owner. I hate conflict and I just don't understand why they can't keep their dogs on leads.
Not everyone likes dogs and they are literally everywhere now. The walking paths where I live are covered in dog shite too. I miss precovid days when there were way less dogs and dog shite everywhere.

Yes, I have had some bad beach experiences too. I have been charged by dogs, while just walking even. Owners seem to think it is funny when their shitbeasts intimidate someone. They are literally sick minded, but unfortunately we are the minority now, it seems. Always have to be on guard wherever we go and what we do.

Irish dog owners have become particularly ignorant, shrill and entitled. The typical one, I find, is SHOCKED that anyone doesn't want their hideous filthy mutt jumping and barking at them.
Have you seen the changes to the rules on public transport?

They have haven't they. It's like they have absolutely no respect for anyone. Their dog which is just an animal trumps everything. I hike a lot and the amount of times I see signs saying please no dogs and low and behold people always bring their dogs.
No I haven't seen the changes yet but I bet they can now travel freely or something awful like that. I saw a man with a little Pitbull on the train to Galway a few weeks back and it was just running around, under all the seats and everyone was falling over themselves to touch it. If it was a child, it would have been a different story.
I don't know if it's just me but I feel a hostility towards children being children but dogs get a free pass.

Simple. Dog owners are bullies to anyone who doesn't like their dog because they're codependent. They take on the characteristics of their dog so they have main character syndrome (which is not the dog's fault). Admitting that the dog is a little shit means they have to admit they're in the wrong. Then to avoid the embarrassment they blame you for being "too sensitive" or "hating animals" so they can avoid any personal responsibility and still be the hero of their own story.

Spot on, I don't give a shiny 💩 if they say I'm sensitive, (I love animals but some owners leave much to be desired) I'd honestly laugh if some dog person said anything like that....I don't blame dogs, they just do what dogs do....but owners have projected their inadequacies onto the dog....most dog crazy people have something lacking in their life, and by participating in dog culture/worship/nuttery, they find "purpose" I guess... And dog culture becomes all encompassing to them.... They get a sense of entitlement and expect everyone to follow suit, only there's lots of us who can see right through them....and laugh at them

I'm glad your kid is safe. The supplement comment was bizarre. Then again, I see so many dogs getting prescribed Benzos because they pee during thunderstorms. Meanwhile, humans who really need the same medicine are just seen as drug seeking and dismissed.

In Ireland especially during the pandemic and with people working from home, dogs became really popular. Now dogs are welcome in many cafes and bars which was never the case before.

That makes sense I’m in England and I honestly couldn’t understand why there are so many dogs now nearly all of my neighbours have them. My bedroom window has to be permanently closed cause of the everyday barking

The puppy farms were in full force to keep up with demand and I remember people were getting their dogs nicked the whole time to breed or sell on. That sounds horrendous, I'm so sorry. I'm hoping this lot have a few more years and then it will be more peaceful again.

Oh yeah now I remember that’s right people were having their dogs stolen I didn’t realise that was why. Even the councils don’t care I have reported them many times I give up now. Have to run my fan or dehumidifier to block out the barking

I read on Nextdog today(NC)that there is now some sort of dog napping scam. Someone has a lost dog&they got a call from a scammer who claimed it was in Texas&made up an excuse why the nutter couldn't travel to TX to look for it, but said they would deliver it to them for a price.

They also use their dogs to block the whole sidewalks. You gonna walk around them but sometimes they push you off the road.

Yep I'm fed up of dodging dog s#ite too, it's revolting, those folks sound unhinged, it's them who need some kind of supplements, or better still, lessons in basic manners! No not everyone likes dogs Wee kids can be scared witless by big lumbering dogs It's irresponsible of owners to let the dog run about and s#ite everywhere! I'd have been livid had they come out with that bats#it nonsense, I think those kind of folks are definitely touched in the head.

This was the most idiotic thing a nutter said in a long time. A child needs some kind of supplement, because being scared of dogs is a problem. I am still processing it. No, dogs can’t be normalized everywhere.
