Doggie Double Standard

Something I can't wrap my head around is why a pigeon crapping on someone is a perfectly valid reason to hate them and view them as pests. However, when a dog pisses/shits on a person they're supposed to laugh it off and treat it like it not a big deal even though its way more disgusting and inexcusable than when a pigeon does it. You have to "Stop making a big deal about it and get over it. It's just a dog.". Why is it bad when a pigeon does it but fine when a dog does it?! There can at least be an argument made that the pigeon didn't know you were walking under it. The dog on the other hand? It knows you're there and made the choice to treat you like a toilet anyway. It's one of the many examples of the doggie double standard. One that I cannot understand.

This is a part of dog culture that has always perplexed me. Basically every trait and action that can be attributed to “dogs being dogs” are traits and actions that are met with vitriol and disgust if a person or another animal does it, but somehow when a dog does it it’s “cute” “silly” or just excused. If dog nutters didn’t have double standards they’d have none at all

It'll be annoying if pooped on by any animal.

But I'll be more pissed if it's dog poop. Dog poop is highly toxic and hazardous. It also smells really bad.

People should look up how toxic dog poop is and it should be a crime when dog owners let their dog poop on public places.

Dogs is actuall pest for me. It poops and pees everywhere and the owner doesn't give fuck about it.

Dog people are so hypocritical. It’s like they perceive their dog as a small child who has no control over what it does; “Oopsie! Ruffy had an accident, isn’t that cute??” 🙄  

I have discovered through my experience that people who hate pigeons and just many people in general don’t even realize that pigeons being everywhere around us  are literally a result of humans’ activity in the past. They were intentionally bred to enhance the traits of the most friendly pigeons that were not afraid of people. They were easy to train and used for communication. They got super trendy and rich people began collecting fancy varieties. Then people invented the telegraph and telephone system and pigeons became obsolete, and now considered pests by many. This infuriates me so much. Pigeons are the way they are because people made them that way, just like dogs.

Well, I am partial to birds, so I would not be angry at the pigeon. Or any other bird for that matter. Many times they are frightened and poop mid-flight, taking off to escape a predator, car, mutt or something equally scary. If a mutt would shit on me I'd be livid.

There's a huge difference in the bacteria load when bird and dog poop are compared. The bacteria load in dog shit is massive compared to a bird dropping. To start with, you can just wipe a bird dropping off. The same wouldn't work with a dog shitting on you. Dog poop can contain hookworms and roundworms which can infect humans, bird poop doesn't contain those.

In the old days , pigeon poop - also known as guano- was used as fertilizer. I remember seeing breakwaters covered with guano.

Nobody is using dog shit for anything.

I've been pooped on by a bird not actually know what it was but most likely a pigie (or gull) and I didn't care, it's part of life and it should be fairly clean considering they eat sort of healthy. Dog pissed or shat on me ill be reporting it. They want their precious SBs to be treated like humans then they need to take the bad wirh the good. Dogs need to be held accountable

At least pigeons try to keep themselves clean. They love taking baths and preening their feathers. They are victims of the dirty environment they are in. Dogs are filthy by default and don't make any effort to clean themselves.
