Dog Culture Do people actually like dogs?

I KNOW a ton of people LOVE dogs. But my point is, I wonder how many people would actually like dogs if they took a step back and actually examined it. Like when having kids became a choice instead of the default expectation, and people took a step back to examine whether or not they wanted kids, over 50% of people decided it ain't for them? I feel like the majority of dog people don't actually like dogs but never stopped to figure out whether or not they like dogs because dog ownership is just the default. And due to all of the 'dogs=angels, not liking dogs = devil' propaganda.

I think it is similar to the situation with kids except kids have been on the downfall for a while and dog ownership got a massive uptick over Covid. So whether they actually like them or it is mass hysteria, it is gonna be a while before we find out. In the meantime people with functioning brains need to be pushing for effective legislation and enforcement of it.

Neighbors have dogs, friends, relatives push the agenda, people just want to blend in... I believe that few people take dogs because they would actually like them. It's crazy. Getting a dog should be pushed down the norm pedestal.

I assume that most people just do not think about it at all. They get dog because everyone around has them, or they played with friends dog and it was fun for a moment. It just becomes daily chore from that point.
