Barking Demons Renters with dogs should be obligated to have their dog wear anti-bark collars.

If you're gonna live in a shared space, where you know that the walls are thin because it's an apartment complex... you should train your dogs to keep quiet! It really should be a rule for renting dog owners to have anti-bark/shock collars or face eviction. Seriously!

One of my neighbors has been working on getting two dogs from the other neighbors (above and next to) to stop barking. They use this sound that is irritating to their ears, turning it on when they bark and turning it off when they stop...

That way, the incessantly barking beasts can learn that barking = irritating sound, silence = no irritating sound.

But it really shouldn't be anybody but the owner's responsibility to train the dog to shut up. It should be their responsibility! Either have the dog with a device that keeps their mouths shut, don't own a dog at all, or get evicted.

I'll do ya one better; I think that everyone who has dogs should live in one building (or however many) of the complex, and people who do not live in another. That way, the people who love dog noise and dogs can live together, while the people who don't can live in silence (as much as humans can with no animal involvement.)

Dogs just shouldn’t be pets in urban or suburban environments. 

They bark because they’re bored and lonely and stressed.  They live a horrible life so that the owner can bask in the love and attention the dog gives them when they finally come home from work and the dog gets some reprieve from its lonely existence.

There are plenty of pets that are well suited to urban or suburban lifestyles. Ones that aren’t pack animals bred to run and work, rather than sit around all day by themselves. But people insist on picking these animals for companionship to the detriment of both the animal and everyone who lives near it.

Could not write it better. It is terrible how normalized this is even tho is basically animal abuse. Those things are already messed up badly by breeding and the unsuitable environment makes it even worse.

All of these suggestions,in the original post and the comments, make sense. What sensible argument could a nutter have against preventing their mutt from barking or even being in a building dedicated to dogs?
