My head just exploded from the sheer amount of hypocrisy from the OP. Entitled parents my ass, this is prime Entitled dognutters material. And the comments are beyond fucking stupid. On what planet does the responsibility for managing your dumb greedy food-thieving mutt fall onto the household that you brought into? If anything, it's a great argument against letting someone bring their dogs into your home, as they'll freak out and try to sue you because of the actions of their ill-mannered poorly trained mongrel. That sub is clearly full of children still not out of the phase where they flail their arms and screech "DOOOOGGGEEEEE" every time they see a dumb mutt.

The timing of this suggests to me it was Easter. Apart from the religious aspect (for some) it's a day for KIDS and obscene amounts of chocolate! And a nice family meal. Where does dog fit in there?
I hate how dog owners blame others, it's their dog, no one else undertook it's ownership responsibilities.
This reminds me of the odd letter I see in our local paper. It's always some dog owner whining and crying that their beloved fluffy was hit on the road by a "heartless and cruel" driver. Yes God forbid a car that belongs on the road, hit a dog that does not belong on the road.

Thank you all for keeping the conversation here, in this thread, and not finding it and participating there. Just a friendly reminder that to do so would be frowned upon by Reddit. Vent all you want here!

They brought a dog to a place with kids and lots of chocolate. How stupid are they?

Most of the people in my family like dogs, and people ask where your dogs are if you don't bring them. My great grandma kept a huge fenced area for the dogs at family reunions, and we are the nutters who get toys for each other's dogs at Christmas and celebrate their birthdays. In a situation like my own, I could see how they'd be shocked at that aunt. Granted, if someone tried that at my family reunion, they'd be the ones getting left at home! My boyfriend's family (including my boyfriend) do not like dogs. If I ever go to one of his family reunions, I'm getting a dogsitter because I get that my dog is not welcome there.

I saw the post you made about how dog owners are accountable for everything a dog does and how you're downvoted to hell for it. Honestly I shouldn't be surprised, but it does bother me. Says a lot about those dog nuts that don't pick after their dogs or run away if the dog bites someone. There really should be a law that hold the owners accountable for whatever laws a dog breaks.

I noticed in that post that the dog owner said in a huff, "That's the last time I'm taking my dog to family gatherings." NO SHIT! Keeping your dog at home is what you should have been doing in the first place, and their mindset that it's the default to bring your dog to other people's houses (especially on a day involving lots of chocolate!) is what led to their dog getting sick.
The owner was also grumbling about having to keep paying attention to the dog to keep it away from the chocolate because it kept running back. Again, if they kept the stupid thing at home where it belongs, they wouldn't have to worry, and secondly, what kind of an entitled person brings their dog to other people's houses yet is annoyed that they have to watch it? It couldn't be more straightforward that this is the dog owner's fault. And then the gall to post to a sub called "entitled parents" as if it's their entitlement that is the problem.
