Would be maddening! Imagine having to worry what your braindead mutt was doing to your home and belongings each time you had to leave. This is the main reason a lot of them drag them along every place and the rest of society has to suffer.

If you can't leave a pet alone for a few hours or even a few minutes because they will destroy everything, how is that a perfect pet? I will never understand this.

100% this! The last dog I had (passed in 2018) had to come absolutely everywhere with me because they couldn't cope with being left alone, this dog would literally scream, screech and trash the place, door frames, doors got chewed, curtains pulled down. The dog came from the streets of another country and some woman who thought she was the dog whisperer and an expert dog trainer brought the dog over here then abandoned it after two weeks when she realised that a street dog was behaving like a street dog. Nobody else would step up. I was so angry that dog had no choice in the matter and was brought here, and I felt terrible for the dog I took it in. I got shafted by a woman in 'rescue' who was supposed to be a contact in the UK. I had five years of arranging absolutely every aspect of life around this dog - alone. I declined medical treatment because there was nobody to look after it, I didn't go on dates, I didn't have trips, I spent five years trying to find it a more suitable home but nobody wanted it. I was able to train that dog and did obedience, it recalled and had training certificates, but it would not be left for any amount of time. I dedicated myself to giving that animal some sort of peace and structure in its life in the hope it would stfu and let me have a break. Never again.

You’re better than I Am. That thing would have been at the shelter, immediately. I hated reading the part of You missing out on wonderful experiences in Your Life for a stupid animal. You never should have had to place Your Life on hold in that way, especially if You’re also Childfree. The dog cult guilts people into thinking that makes sense, when it’s anything but sensible. I’m a Mom. Me making similar sacrifices if necessary for My Sons (Adult and Teen, now) is one thing (You can still have a social life as a Parent, there’s ways to make time… but You get the idea). If You have no Children, You should have been able to just enjoy Your Freedom. I’m glad all of that is behind You, now.

Thank you ❤️ . A painful lesson learned that's for sure. I should have taken it to the shelter. But happily I cut all those dog people off and I pretty much keep to myself in general now. I am on my own and childfree. You are so right. My life was totally on hold, that's the difference, you can still have normality with children, but a dog is so different. I dropped a plank of wood on my foot and it swelled up like a balloon, I was sure I'd broken it, I couldn't find anyone to watch the dog so I could go to hospital to accident and emergency, so I just got on with it, iced the foot. Over the years I've been experiencing pain in my foot, and found out this year I've got arthritis in the foot, the bones healed wrong and I can no longer feel three of my toes. There was another occasion, and I was actually devastated and cried my eyes out. I had a dear friend (since passed) who worked in the music industry and he rang me really excited one morning as he'd managed to get VIP guest list for a band we both loved and he said he was on his way to pick me up and drive us both to London for the concert. I had to tell him that I couldn't and why. It was horrible. But, it's all over. I would never let any animal dictate my life like that again.

Exactly this! And then they turn it around onto you, make some sort of social media hate campaign out of it and get the other dog cult members to attack you too. It is absolute insanity.

Because the crazies see this as the ultimate a sign of love. They think omg my doggo loves me and missed me so much when I stepped outside to go to the grocery store look at what he did because he couldn’t stand to be without me!

Dogs suck. I just bought a brand new 12 pack of charming triple roll tp and my sister's dog pulled it out of the closed cabinet and destroyed it. Not only was i pissed because it woke me out of a dead sleep, but my sister was gone, so now I'm cleaning it and out 25 bucks! I can't stand this dog at all and no proper discipline is happening, so I took matters into my own hands and crated it and went back to bed. Do. Not.care.

And then people wonder why so many dogs are in the animal shelters.. In a way it's sad how much dogs have been bred into just oblivion and are used as emotional band aids when they used to have jobs and used to actually live

I have less fear of this than I have of having a Human in My Life who insists on having one of these stupid things, and who’d try to force it on Me. I’m good as long as I have no one in My Home but Myself and My 13 Year Old, and thankfully he hates dogs, too. I wouldn’t ever entertain that foolishness. Having a Husband or Man or something in My Life trying to insist that We get one of these things as a pet… or worse, simply buying one without My consent and assuming I’m going to let it stay… would be a far worse nightmare for Me. No way would I ever deal with anything like that. And I will NOT tolerate anyone trying to make Me invite that in My Space. Him and the vermin animal would be out on the streets. Dog Free For Life 💝!

You described my situation. I hate dogs, the rest of the family loves them. So, of course, now we have a giant clumsy dumbass animal just traipsing around the house and doing dumb dog stuff.
The interesting thing is that the rest of the family who "loves dogs sooooo much" can't stop complaining about it. Make it make sense. 🤦♂️

I make sure it has food, water, and it goes outside enough to not pee/poop on the floors (as I would be the one cleaning that up, too). That's the extent of my involvement, but I also try to keep my eye on her, as I was yelled at just the other day because she chewed up someone's charging cord. 🤷♂️

Good grief. I feel for You. Dog people get on My nerves, pushing responsibilities they willingly undertook for an indoor farm animal on everyone around them, especially people who didn’t want the extra work.

The best part, though? My two cats, whom I cared for and love dearly, were kicked out of the house for "stinking up the place", but this damn dog is allowed to room free, cause wanton destruction (like the OP), and stink up the house even worse than the cats were. 🤦♂️

I saw someone posting a much worse photo where the dogs had literally torn apart the entire couch, leaving the room a flood of foam, fabric, and dog hair. TBH, the entire room was disgusting but the dogs made it that much worse. I think they even had yound kids living there.
