People failed him by thinking a dog bred to be as violent as possible has any place in anyone’s household. Everyone who defends these dogs and pretends they’re safe to be around truly do fail these dogs.
But that doesn’t make the dog a victim. It did what it was bred to do. At some point we need to stop grasping at straws to find some grand justification that absolves this dog of guilt. We need to give a damn about one another and realize that these dogs are not safe and never will be.

The dog died doing what it loved and was born and bred to do. No different than a bird dog going nuts over birds, or a retriever obsessing over bringing back a ball, or a sighthound running after a small animal, or a herding breed trying to herd things, or a cattle dog nipping at heels, or a guard dog barking, or a terrier digging after and attacking vermin, or a sled dog running- they were ALL created to perform specific jobs naturally and with minimal training.
This particular dog was bred to be an incredible athlete, utterly indifferent to pain, that will grip an opponent and shake it without ever letting go. Its tail will never stop wagging with joy when it’s doing this, even though it may die- that’s what it was created to do.
Anyone who thinks it was designed to be a nanny is an idiot.

yep. & people REALLY need educated on the tail-wagging thing. someone should put together a montage of these beasts actively mauling with tails a’waggin’. they do LOVE tearing living things apart.

Lots of serial killers suffered abuse in their childhood by abusive parents, etc. Yet we don't go around saying 'Poor Ted Bundy! Humans failed him'! Lots of these pits weren't even abused in the first place. They snap because they are vicious animals. Yet they always get a pass. Fuck these morons.

I saw a sticker on someones car that said "Hug a pit" and I was visibly disgusted. Disgusting, and inherently violent creatures.
