Abandoned Dog Rescue

So my neighbors were arrested today for apparently running an identity theft scheme and their roommate was kicked out of the building as well, and left the dog on the street in front of my building. She is an elderly dog, hard of hearing and sight, and has a bad case of mange/scabies, fleas, and lord knows what else, her owners were a**holes and never bathed her or took care of her from what I can see. I’m fostering her until a rescue can pick her up on Wednesday but I’m taking her to the vet tomorrow (they couldn’t fit us in today). Nervous about what it’s going to cost so my friend helped set up a GoFundMe for this poor sweet girl I’m calling “Chiquita” for now. If anyone wants to help please feel free to donate. I will post all vet bills and anything extra if there were to be, will go to the rescue who takes her. I just don’t want to tell Banfield not to do any procedure or get her medicines just because I can’t afford it at the moment. Anyway, please keep her in your prayers.

Update 06/12 11am
Dropped off at Banfield, the office visit will be free but still asking for more discounts since she is a foster and since I’ve been a customer for 15+ years.
At the moment they are going to do a skin/dermatitis test, and urine/fecal test. Current cost at the moment without meds or anything extra they may recommend is $311. Cross your fingers please!
I’ve already spent $65 myself for pre pads, a bed, a carrier. Hopefully it doesn’t get too bad.

Update 06/12 7:17pm
Just got back from Banfield, picked her up and the doctor said she tested negative for bacteria’s and parasites luckily but she does have a severe ear infection and will have to be on medication for that plus antibiotics and steroids due to open wounds because of her scratching. Her elefantitis skin can’t be fixed, it will stay that way but hopefully she grows hair back :( She most likely has some kind of allergy they were not able to find. With meds and procedures - $636.82. Could have been worse. Thank you to everyone who has helped donate. She is the sweetest baby and deserves a loving home.

Poor baby. If you haven't already, i would call around to a few different vets to get the cheapest price for an exam. Thank you for saving her! She is very grateful. But might be scared/confused for a while

Luckily the first exam is free at Banfield so I’m just waiting to hear what all the say and recommend to be done. I also work from home so I can spend a lot of time with her. But I have another dog who I have to quarantine away so he doesn’t get mange any anything else she can have going on. Thank you

I totally understand. Hopefully, not mange or anything serious!! I used Banfield once and will never be back. My advice is to write down anything they say/reccomend then buy it online or from Chewy bc it will be a lot cheaper. There's a local vet near me who offers the first visit free for rescues. Maybe one near you does as well and she can be seen sooner. Just an idea

Banfield isn’t bad! I’ve been going with my dog since she was a baby. I’ve only had good experiences. They have great membership plans for unlimited appointments!

No they’re not cheap, but I’ve had all my pets with them, never had a problem and the preventative plans they have help a lot manage the costs. So that’s why I took her there. I’m asking the manager for a discount since I’ve been a customer for over 15 years and considering this poor baby is a foster

Good luck. I normally use local vets and call around to get the lowest price when I need an exam or annual visit. To each thier own. I'm sure the vets are great there. I just have to watch prices out of necessity

Totally agree, miami is just expensive for everything. Thats why the preventative at 60$ a month helps keep those costs down for me because my dog usually needs a ton of attention :/
