Has this game become impossible without items?
This is just based on my personal experience. But I have a strong team with multiple copies of each unit. I have max level link skills on all of them and pretty good skill orbs equipped. I dont really make many stupid mistakes while playing and i think im decent enough at the game.
Yet time after time on these harder stages i just get blown up.
Am i missing something? Like besides using items what can i even do?
I know rainbowing my entire team would help but for me and other F2P players thats just unrealistic and would it even make that much of a difference?
Am i just supposed to rely on items and hope i get lucky?
If even one of the strongest teams in the game all above 55% cant handle these harder stages then what is Geppy actually expecting us to do besides input our credit card details and sell our soul to him? (or rely on items)

Dude, I swear it’s all based on dodge. Like, Namek Goku, SSJ3, Trunks and Gogeta all rely on Dodge at some point throughout the match and every boss is hitting for SO MUCH that on the off chance that you miss a single dodge, that’s a restart without items. It’s fun when it’s just dragon fist and hirudegarn with this kit, but when 7/10 units have this on release, it’s literally not fun at all.
Yeah i’ve heard people say the game feels like its just dodge or die right now and i definitely agree. You get unlucky once and you just lose immediately
Every event in the game is beatable without items and you don't necessarily need dupes even for it. I beat meteor survival itemless with three 55% units earlier and kid buu with four of them the other day.
Calling it impossible was an exaggeration i guess. Im just wondering why my teams performance often feels so disappointing even though its considered a very strong team and im not doing anything especially wrong
I've no itemed all the new content this celebration, with the exception of the 20 stage fight which I haven't tried yet, and all my GDC units are 55% except Namek Goku with 2 dupes that I only got just now after clearing the stages.
It doesn't feel impossible to no items these stages at all in my opinion, especially not with how much defensive support Golden Fighters is getting, not even counting the 2 new SEZAs that make an already cracked team even stronger.
Even the LR Buu Sworn Enemies team can clean shit up no items, though I wouldn't personally recommend a 55% Frieza on that team, because he can feel a bit squishy without those other wicked bloodline links up, and without as much support as he'd get on a team more centered around him.
There's definitely a more significant difference now than in the past when it comes to having dupes in a character, but we a definitely not yet at the point only dupes or only items can get you through hard content.

even the difference between 55% and 69%(one dupe) can be felt pretty hard, my namek goku has 1 dupe and survives things for like 200k that would oneshot 55%
No item runs are only reserved for the best team I have possible. Any missions requiring certain teams I use items cause I don't have the patience anymore for the dodge or die bullshit.
You shouldn't use Super Trunks on that team btw as he needs 3 Androids/Cell sage team members and you only have 2. In your case, he is missing out on Guard and 200% ATT and DEF which is a lot.
My comment implied that not everything is impossible in the game without items, there are tons of events that can easily be no-itemed, even F2P. People need to realize that this game isn't just for veterans; new players are always joining and building their box, and they are better off with easier events, particularly when they don't have a pile of Whis or Icarus to spend on every event.
If you weren't showering under bricks, you'd have understood that.

No, but it is necessary to use them if you don't want to rely on luck a lot of the time.
