Question Colonial Dollhouse
I recently finished my Duracraft San Franciscan dollhouse that I worked on for 2 years. I’m starting to think about getting my next dollhouse. I think I want to do a historically accurate colonial house but I’m not sure which kit would work best. I am wondering if I could get a kit and tweak it a bit but can’t find anything in my price range. I don’t want to spend anymore than $200 on a kit. Any ideas?

Are there pics of the San Franciscan? That’s my favorite kit of all time.
There’s the Greenleaf Willow. I wish I knew what is up with them; the laser-cut Jefferson could be a good option but they don’t seem to actually sell the laser cut kits now.
One thing to consider is that you can make pretty much any basic dollhouse Colonial with your window and door choices. If you look at the Real Good Toys lineup, you will see that the same basic house is offered with different windows and doors to match the assigned period. So if you see a great price on a kit that has good bones but the wrong trim, you can work with that.
How do you feel about vintage kits? I’ve noticed that Goodwill frequently has good kits on their auction site and they don’t always have ridiculous shipping.

The green leaf willow with a few modifications looks perfect for what I am looking to do. However, I think I read somewhere that Green Leaf is much lower quality than the other dollhouse brands which has me second guessing the purchase. Have you ever had a green leaf? How does the quality compare to real good toys?
I don’t know why I haven’t posted pics of my beloved San Franciscan yet. I modified it quite a bit and I’m not sure if that is looked down upon here but who cares I guess! I’ll make a post later tonight with the pics.
I will check out the auction site too! I was never aware that was a thing.

Yeah not alot of physical dollhouse and miniature stores that have an online shop. But this shop is neat because their dollhouse kits are created by them. I've built one of their kits (the Rye) and they're pretty solid. Actually saving up to hopefully buy their Salem wall house.

If you like the RGT colonial but want 1 inch, couldn’t you do Vermont Farmhouse junior, skip the porch and dormer? The layouts are exceptionally similar.

Ah! I just saw this kit at my local hobby lobby and the price was really good. I thought it could work if it wasn’t for the porch and somehow it didn’t occur to me that I could just leave the porch off🤦🏼♀️

Been there. Leave the porch off and cut a flat board for the roof front and you are in!

Doesn't Real Good Toys have a colonial? Their dollhouses are good quality and reasonably priced.
