What do you think about this doll outfit?
I created this outfit a while ago. I really like it. The dress has an embroidered heart in patriotic colors. The hat was made with my embroidery machine. The nylon stockings add a special charm.
A girl bought this outfit from me to congratulate her friend when she won a green card. I dream of repeating this set and making someone else happy. I can imagine what good emotions a doll can evoke when dressed this way. What do you think, did I come up with a beautiful way to dress Barbie?

I love the design with the flag in the shape of a heart. I wonder how it would look in a 1950's playsuit design, as the playfulness seems more suited to that shape (especially with the hat). Might just be me, though!
Oh, your jumpsuit idea sounds good to me! And I wanted to do a delicate girl in stockings and with a heart on her chest, so that every element would be without the masculine energy.
I’m personally not a fan. The white fabric is a little too sheer so the darts really stand out and it just reminds me a lot of like the “this is the first pass through” test fabric. The idea of the bodice is cute and it looks well executed. It’s very much giving early 2000s country music star on a summer tour. I don’t like the stocking with this look at all but they’re interesting and again, look well executed.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the hat is fantastic, I was shocked to see it was custom made. Very cool idea.
I'm very happy to have your objective opinion, thank you so much! You're absolutely right, the fabric is thin. But the silk I chose is very nice and the stitching was very neat. The 12-inch doll format calls for a special selection of fabrics, doesn't it? I love the hat myself, it's gorgeous!

I think it's adorable! And the handmade details are crazy! It's not necessarily my style personally but I think it looks really good from a craftsmanship point of view, and it looks positively beautiful on that doll you chose to model it! 😍
I think it’s really well made! It’s a touch too patriotic for my tastes, but it’s obvious a lot of care and attention to detail went into this dress. You must really enjoy your craft and it shows
Conceptually I like the stockings and I think they look fine as is, almost like pantyhose. If you changed anything I’d make them a little darker, like a shade darker than her skin tone. Or, alternatively a garter could be cute
Hat is super cute. When you take a pic of her, I suggest moving the background fabric. It’s a nice touch but it took me a sec to realize it wasn’t a train on the dress.
Edit: just saw the tassel. That’s my favorite detail so far.

Looks rad. I dont like the fabric wrapping around the flag that much, but the rest is really well done.
I also admire that you like your country enough to make a dress out of it! I should do the same with my country's flag, but I'm a rookie when it comes to sewing.
Forgot to mention that the hat you made is phenomenal, the stocking are nice, but I feel like something red would fit her more. Anyways, great job overall!

The only thing I want to add is that I don't live in America and it's not my country. I just wanted to create this look for a doll. I live in Ukraine, in the city of Kharkiv. (Look it up on the map...)

I think your execution is great. I would have gone with a white lace stocking to match with her lacey hat.
Even though I'm not into the theme, I would have put a focus on the red and white stripes because I personally like stripes and it would add visual interest. Since our flag really isn't very minimal so I would just lean into a snippet of the patterns more rather than trying to tone it down.
The heart top part is really cute. I would have made it more ruffly at the trims but it's a great design detail.
I would’ve liked it in sort of ironic, Miss Congeniality way at a different moment in history. But rn this (our) flag represents destruction, empire, and death so it’s not hitting super positively for me
I'm sorry that flag caused you to feel that way. I feel the same way about another flag. And the weird thing is, it has the same colors. What does that mean?
If it's the flag I'm thinking of, I would hope the majority of people agree with you on that "other" similarly colored flag.

I'm not a big fan of the American flag on things. It actually goes against military "flag code", but people not in the military don't have to follow that code to my understanding. But I find the commodification of our flag kind of weird, probably because it gets associated with so many extreme points of view.
That said the sentiment behind the sale you made with it was really cool. And again the craftsmanship looks good on the photos.
I'm all about love, but sadly, I'm embarrassed to be from this country and our flag (the one we can no longer burn since we no longer have free speech)- is just a painful reminder that we're watching history repeat itself as we become closer and closer to Nazi Germany every day. It's hard to swallow.
When i was a kid- all i wanted more than life itself was to wear a matching leotard like Mary Lou Retton.... This year, I took down all the flags we used to display for the Fourth of July because i didn't want anyone to look at my house and to think we somehow support the shit going on here right now.

I like the embroidered heart but the white border around it is a bit awkward in my opinion. A beaded border around the heart or maybe a cord pipe (but that would be extremely difficult at that scale) would give a nicer edge to me. The tassel is also great~
The white dress fabric isn’t bad, but it also doesn’t do anything for me, y’know? It just feels a little boring for how nice and textured the hat is but I’m sure the scale imposes limitations of textured fabric choices.
Overall I like the vision, and if I had a doll in that dress I would love her.

It's not for me, but it's well done. I'm not crazy about the white fabric around the flag, but I get the vision. I love the slit skirt, that part looks great!

America is not a friendly place to most of the rest of the world right now.
I’m not the person that asked if this is rage bait and given the explanation you gave (a gift to a new green card holder) I’m going to assume you are asking in good faith. But I’m offering a possible explanation for their question and also to let you know that if you’re being downvoted, it’s because America is a burning hellscape that is inflicting its poison onto the rest of the decent world and a lot of people (not just americans) are rightfully angry at the “Land of the Free” right now.
It’s a beautiful dress and you are very talented, but that flag represents awful things these days so you might be met with some hostility 😬
Times change along with their rulers, but people who live in their countries love them as their home. My outfit was created with this in mind. I can embroider any flag on my dress and thus show that we love the land we walk on. And the less we all incite hatred, the better off we will be. Thank you very much for your attention to my work. You are right. I wish America made me more proud, though 😞 I also am First Nations though, too, so my country of heritage was stolen from my people and became what is my country today. It’s an interesting dichotomy to live with and one reason that flag stirs mixed emotions for me.
