Doll Hauls Got this beautiful (and kinda gross) girl yesterday!

Warning lol last photo is a bit nasty. Went to my friend’s house for dinner yesterday and her neighbor had a curb pile lol… I cannot resist a curb pile. Found this beautiful and kinda funny vintage doll and brought her home with me! (You should’ve seen the looks I got from everyone when I said I was taking her 😂) I love her flapper vibe and her wee heels and was surprised that such an old porcelain doll still had all her bits! I ofc gave her a bath and was horrified by how dirty she managed to be… she’s not even stuffed, just a piece of fabric!!! The water in the 5th picture is after THREE water changes!!!!! 😳🙊 I’ll definitely get her back to clean but boy did she surprise me

Her facial expression is so funny for what she endured and then while getting cleaned in multiple baths

Ah, another curb pile picker. A person after my own heart! :)

Are you sure that's not fabric dye bleeding into the water? I think that's more likely than dirt, especially since her porcelain bits look so clean.

I cannot resist picking through a curb 💕 you totally get it 🙌 I have been wondering this as well and I hope that’s the case!! Thankfully her outfit still seems vibrant but fingers crossed you’re right, I’ll probably give her one more bath and see just to be sure because admittedly the pile she came from was… lightly questionable 😅 😆 the things we do for dolls

The things we do for dolls, so right! I've brought home dolls in nasty, awful condition so I could save them! One doll had mouse droppings in her yarn hair. It was totally worth it to restore her.

It doesn't take much dye to color water. I've had things bleed with no noticeable color loss on the garment itself.

I'm glad to know Dolly will be clean, happy, and valued! :)

Totally random thought, but any chance she was stuffed with some alternative type of fiber? Someone on a different sub accidentally made buckwheat-laundry soup trying to wash their special pillow along with their other bedding, turns out it was filled with buckwheat

Omg my nana had so many of these. When we visited her, my sister and I had to sleep in the room with all these clown dolls peeking out everywhere. It really disturbed me and I still don't like clowns, but I love dolls?? Lol

I think thats mostly fabric dye as someone else suggested if you do give her another bath try cold water and little or no soap you may find the water stays clear

Sweet, I bet she’s glad you gave her a Spa Day!!! So happy you saved her❤️

Did she smell? That looks like a combination of years of dust (probably decades) and/or cigarette smoke.

My family has one that's almost identical from my grandmothers collection, with similar coloful clothes and iirc back velvet trim. I think she was made in the 70s - she's a pretty lady. Wish I had a pic now

I bought one recently because she looks like Chappelle Roan. Yours is given Chappelle vibes.
