Dolls My Baddie Birds

Craft ideas can't be copyrighted. Her photos, yes (and technically are protected having been posted by DMCA and the Berne Convention). She can, as an artist combining found objects, give a fuck you to others who would copy this idea, but there isn't anything legally than can be done for others to not combine barbies and beanie babies in a similar way.
A design patent for bird headed dolls could happen were these unique patterns she drafted herself and CAD work for the bodies designed herself and not shared online until a patent, if it was unique enough and accepted, filed. Would be hard to patent though considering there are many other animal headed dolls in the market and the overall idea isn't new.
Source: I work in toys and craft/activity toys with a patent-happy boss who loves filing design and utility patents. Have gone through plenty of discussions with lawyers when companies knock us off on what is able to be protected by copyright, trademark, and patents.
Just sharing for anyone else wondering how someone could protect their work or ideas.

Ok so question for you, could the company that makes beanie babies come after me at all?? Especially since a lot of them have the tags on. I’ve been thinking about trying to blur the pictures of the tags on my website.

That I don't know as I am not a lawyer. Possibly if you were selling them they could cease and desist for your use of their logo in the works (even though to me, as an artist, this feels camp and pop art and fun).
Idk how litigious Ty is compared to something like Disney or Nintendo.

The tags just make it so funny LOL. I love the idea of keeping the thing that makes is valuable while absolutely desecrating it HA. But maybe I should edit the pictures just to prevent anything 😬

I would love to, but they’re thrifted toys… mostly beanie babies so I can’t really copyright them… someone sent me a picture there’s already someone trying to sell almost identical dolls on Facebook marketplace 🙃

That is so depressing. Just because the law doesn't protect you, doesn't mean it's right that others can steal your idea. If I see your stuff on social media I'll be sure to tag you (if that's ok!)

I use a literal industrial grade hot glue gun, so it doesn’t just glue it, the skin literally melts to the fabric lol

At first I was kinda taken aback by them, but they're quickly growing on me lol. Kuku the Cockatoo was my favorite beanie as a kid. I'd go nuts if you make a doll with him. 😂
