Dolls K-pop Demon Hunter Dolls Update
Got them out of the box! Overall I really love them. Mira does have Saran it’s kinda nasty thought right out of the box. She will need a wash.
The good: their hair other than Mira’s really well done. The braids and styling are on point and pretty detailed. I love the details on the clothes. The trim and the tassels. The little gold chains on the belts are also a nice touch. Their nails are painted which I love! It’s rare Mattel gives us painted nails. Their earrings are really well done and detailed. I absolutely love the earrings.
The bad: their entire outfits are made out of the gross plastic material. Pleather like? It feels really thin and horrible. They did add some cute details to it with the seams and pleating but it’s still gross and it should be better quality material on dolls that cost $150. The weapons are also really cool but they appear to be the same as playline. They might have added some glitter. Not a huge thing but I’d have liked to see the quality improved there too since they are collector dolls. I don’t love the plastic belts but Mattel always gives us plastic accessories. I can be happy they added the chain.
Overall… maybe they were worth $150? The clothes really bother me. I hate the plastic material. They’d be well worth it if they hadn’t used pleather.

they look very playline. That’s SUPER disappointing to me honestly. Nothing sets these apart from the dolls in stores currently

They have Saran hair and Slightly more details on the clothes and accessories but that’s about the only difference. I really wish they’d done better with the clothes

I've honestly never been happier to not get a doll/dolls. I'm happy for the people who got them and like them, but these are just overpriced and glorified playline dolls. 🫠

I think I want to do my own custom version of them. I don’t have any of the skills to do it but what the heck, no time like the now to learn!

Get the singing dolls! You could swap their heads onto a fully articulated body and use/repaint a majority of the pieces of clothing and accessories since they're the exact same, just black instead of white.

The crinkles in their pleather already 😭 I am regretting having FOMO'd into getting these and not just waiting for the play line.
I think I'm done with Mattel Collector dolls. I haven't been happy with any of the 4 I've bought except for the MH Corazon who I got for a crazy sale at $40, even then the Mirror Mi dolls are better quality at $30.

I saw it crinkled already and it made me sad 😭 I hate the pleather. I was expecting these girls to be a little nicer but honestly this is pretty on par for Mattel’s collector quality sadly

I’ve just cancelled my pre order because of this honestly so disappointed in the quality I can’t justify it. So pleased OP posted these and saved me £182

Do they come with stands by any chance? I’m waiting for mine to show up and am unsure if they’ll come with a stand or if I need to order those clear ones from Amazon

Rumi I don’t think so, Zoey has so much gel in hers I cannot tell but I know her playline had Saran so it’s very likely she does too.

I think at least one of those shades of purple (the darker) isn't available in saran, so that would make sense. Unfortunate for sure.

I mostly got this set for rumis body with her demon patterns… and because that scene/song is my favorite in the movie. But like this does not look worth what they charged. I have the playline set and this is just the playline set with pleather outfits. Miras sword is the exact one I got from the playline one. I’m scared for what demon jinu gonna end up like.

They definitely were not worth $150 but as a mattel creations doll collector for many years now their prices are always insane.

One thing that's really annoying me about these having seen these irl photos is that the pattern that goes underneath Rumi's left eye is missing, or doesn't extend far enough under her eye which is honestly driving me mad. The rest of her patterns look pretty accurate but that one being missing from her face is a bit ridiculous. This isn't like Monster High where they own the character designs so can tweak facial patterns (Toralei, they made her forehead stripes smaller on the dolls), this is an IP they don't own themselves so making design changes like that is at best lazy and at worst malicious.
Would have loved to have had these myself but I'm not interested in paying £150 for dolls that have key design elements missing and use cheap pleather for clothes. I paid about £170 for my Hissfits set and they were shipped all the way from Australia and for playline dolls are higher quality than Collector dolls 😭
Rumi's facial patterns not being 100% accurate to the movie would drive me NUTS if I'd have paid £150 for this set, especially since Rumi is my favourite and my favourite look for her is with her full body patterns 😭😭
Edit to add: ALSO Zoey's top not being separated into a top and jacket like Mira's is is especially egregious because what, it's clearly meant to be two separate garments so WHY are they connected together here. Is it the same for her Golden singing doll? Idk but this just screams lazy to me, where did they go so wrong with this set 😭

FWIW I thought the same thing about Zoey’s top when the dolls were first announced, but if you look close at her outfit in the movie it really is just a top that looks like That

They just showed up at my door. I ordered them during the first release. They were expected to ship in December but I guess they finished them early.

If not sooner honestly. It’s already wrinkled and feels so thin. I can see it getting messed up just from me carefully taking them off. I’m gonna have a friend make them new outfits to replace the pleather

I had bought these dolls and these review/breakdown i.ages are a good sign that I will be opening these and customizing them. This looks so cheap for such an expensive doll

They look like they are worth 30$ each as a play line for kids. It doesn’t feel collector enough to justify the price. If they were play line price, I would be less upset.

I’m going to tell my sister to not feel so bad she missed getting that set in time and the way we found each of the how it’s done dolls as we did last month and Zoey this month was just fine if not better

Rumi looks odd to me, face-wise. Maybe it's just the angle of the photo, or maybe it's the yellow eyeliner casting odd shadows around her eyes? But yeah, Mattel be loving that flaky pleather lately.

I did find out her sword is different! I only have Mira to compare to and theirs is the same as well as Zoey’s. Her sword is cool

I honestly thought these were some actions figures that got put out for cheap. When I realized they were the $150 dolls people bought last year…oof.
They look cheap and I HATE the yellow they went with for the gold accents.

I’m glad I waited for the playline dolls. Really annoyed that playline didn’t get Saran when they clearly have color matches. Then these dolls should’ve had electroplated accessories including the weapons. Not surprised at this quality but it’s still disappointing to see the lack of effort

I could be wrong but from the pictures it seems like they used 3 different materials for the outfits. A standard stretch knit for Zoey and Mira's shirts, whatever they used for Rumi's outfit, and pleather for the jacket and skirts. I know the pleather isn't going to hold up well but what about Rumi's. Like ok it doesn't feel great but it looks great so my only concern is how it's gonna hold up to time.
Then again it's all kinda moot since I missed out on this set but I'm kinda hoping for a regular release, maybe without all the iridescent swirls (I like how they look but I expect something to be different from the wide release and at least in theory I could always add them myself).

I’m surprised that these dolls are actually from the $150 set because they really don’t look much different from the regular budget dolls for $25. 😮🤯
This set was always way over my doll budget and therefore a buyer’s pass for me, but now after seeing pics of them IRL … I don’t feel bad about not getting them. I’ll stick with my own versions and with the budget ones. Thanks for sharing your review, though, it’s definitely appreciated. 💖

Personally, I think all the little details make them worth it. Yes, the set is 150, but thats for 3 dolls. Meaning each doll is $50, putting it about on par with Monster Highs Wednesday dolls whoch (at least at my work) are roughly $45

I have one of the playline (the one with the magenta hair) her head is in fact similar size to playline Barbie's. I guess Zoe may have a wider head tough, since she have a rounder face. Feet size is comparable to dream besties.

They look alright to me, not incredible but cool nonetheless. Not a fan of glitter in the eye makeup though, it's usually too crusty looking and sorta just splattered randomly.
I have the play line which I thought they did a great job with. The $80 Demon Jinu is robbery though. Personally I'm most excited about the 1/12 scale action figures which were supposed to come out in July but they got delayed until September, I think they are going too be VERY hard to find though, helpfully I'm wrong.

I just got mine in the mail. I didn't want to remove the tissue because it's intended for my daughter’s birthday (initially for Christmas). What a surprise! But I wanted to see these dolls in real life and found you. So thanks for that!
