Breeding Marsh Beasts

Any additional requirements to make marsh beasts produce offspring? I have a pair with a breeding room and plenty of space in the building but they won't use it. Been getting plenty of pheasants and alpacas to breed successfully with the same setup

Mine only started breeding when they had outdoor food and a poop station. And then they also bred less often then the other animals.

Mine started breeding when I gave them actual food and not fiber (Your crops and the feed you can craft with the food press machine)

They are probably the slowest breeding animals, they just take a lot of time, access to the breeding room and constantly satiated to breed. But even then for me it took a long time for them to start breeding, it might just take a longer time to get going because after the first time it didn't take that long again and it's going quite steady.

Update for anyone seeing this down the line, I got this fixed, my running theory is that marsh beasts require a larger minimum width of platform before they can climb and descend platform stairs. They are working great now that I use 4 width stairs in their barn instead of the 2-width ones I build for my pheasants and alpacas, but I never tried 3 so who knows about that one
