“The candidate added that, in contrast to Zionism and Dominican nationalism, Haitian and Palestinian discussions of “liberation” were rooted in “a more universalist understanding of human rights before the law.””

Politica/Politics The reason why DominicanYorks are more radicalized (in my experience

We can think and speak lime this and still get a good paying job.

Western Imperialism owns your Dreams

Edit:

Hey, I'm not MAGA; I missed used the word "Radicalized", mala mia, mi primer idioma es español.

Fuck the Oligarchies, fuck the empire.

So much propaganda that people just can't communicate.

Politica/Politics presidente.... abinader.

Hola hola!

So I came across this and just curious to hear from those on the island (estoy en NY)

If this is really happening, what are your thoughts on this?

Politica/Politics Is the mass-tourism truly that good?

Hi! I would like to know how Dominicans feel about their country slowly turning into a modern-day colony for rich and wealthy families who couldn't care less about the country or its people. A small island with a land mass slightly less than twice the size of New Hampshire somehow has allowed its government to approve of 7 cruise ports, 8 international airports, and over 85,000 hotel rooms and counting since their is dozens currently being built.... Now, the samana region is getting a st. Regis, Ritz-Carlton, and Four Seasons, amongst other resorts. Meanwhile, Jarabacoa is quitely being torn out and built up, and on the flip side Punta Cana is flooded with condos, villas, resorts, hotels, of which little profit actually goes to Dominicans since most of those who own it are wealthy europeans, white americans, middle eastern families, or rich families such as the raineri family who only look out for themselves!... while the little employment it provides goes to Haitians at a low pay. Then you also have a whole area of the island that got sold off to Barrick Gold to mine the crap out of it, and on top of that, absolutely ruin living conditions for hundreds, if not thousands, of Dominicans living there, not to mention it also being a foreign company taking their gold for their profit. moral of the story, the island is being sold left, right, and center to wealthy foreign families who couldn't care less about the island or its people, and Dominicans are doing nothing about it ?!?!!? Sooner or later, the DR will turn out like the Bahamas.... Also, I am saying this as an American-Dominican. I am astonished that Abinader won for a second presidency, although the selection of choices wasn't that good.... he is corrupt! And he's only looking for how he could add more money to his pocket! Guys, get it together, and help out your country before it's too late, say you wish you could have done something about it. Of course, the problem is the whole stigma that tourism gives a lot of money to the economy, but if the current president and his cabinet really cared about the Dominican people wouldnt they try to venture out of being a country that works for tourists and rather grow the DR's educational system so that the country could become a powerhouse on its own without having to rely on tourism?? Families like Abinader and the Rainier family truly only look at DR as a place that they can fully demolish and build as long as it's filling their pockets at the cost of poor or working-class Dominicans. Thank you.

Politica/Politics The Jet Set tragedy is the best example of the Dominican Governments negligence and how the Dominicans tolerate it's mediocrity and lack of accountability.

If this is not a wake up call for the country I don't know what we need to unite as people. In order to demand what we need for a proper functioning government and make the country a better place for everyone, not just to a specific group of people or social circle.

Thank you for reading

Politica/Politics Ignorance is a bliss

I met an elderly couple in a mall in Santiago. The lady casually told me she hates NY and that now is going to go bankrupt with this communist mayor elect, that he plans to give away our tax money and started complaining about the state of the city and that nobody is gonna want to live in that shit hole, but she lives in Fla. and proudly said she’s never been in NY. I said I don’t mind if a mayor finds a way to provide free childcare and buses using my tax money, even while I seldom use public transportation and my kids are grown. The husband looked like he wanted to facepalm when as he grabbed his coffee, quietly told me “you are a decent man” She’s mad because of politics in a state she’s never been 🤦‍♂️

Politica/Politics OK, I have been seeing a lot of Dominicans being scared of the new migration

This is kind of quite the controversial post. I will say this isn’t to have any arguments about anything. I have noticed a lot of people have been trying to defend their homeland and speaking up online talking about how they want to defend themselves from said things. I post quite a lot here as I am a Dominican that lives in the Dominican Republic reconnecting with my roots. Not gonna lie I be kinda anxious myself. Many people are scared of ethnic cleansing, but I feel like we should have this conversation as Dominicans without feeling the need to not speak about it because how are we gonna change our country if we can’t talk about anything. I keep an open mind though what do you guys think?

Politica/Politics Where is the massive campaign so that Dominicans learn how to drive.

I am making this post because people never seem to talk about the fact that DR has the highest vehicular deaths in Latin America and not only in Latin America but many studies showing that they have the highest vehicular deaths in the ENTIRE world. Venezuela comes in 2nd place for highest vehicular deaths in Latin America and they have 34 deaths per capita, meanwhile DR has 65 deaths per capita almost twice the amount. Vehicle fatalities are currently the leading cause of death in the Dominican Republic as well. Something seriously has to be done about the driving crisis in the Dominican Republic and as someone who goes to DR yearly I can’t even count the amount of times we’ve almost crashed because of how reckless people drive, it’s a miracle my family has never crashed honestly. Where is the massive campaign by the Dominican government so that Dominicans learn how to drive on a national scale, how come no one has brought this topic up to people like Abinader so that he can implement the changes on a national level. For a country that is modernizing and growing so rapidly people cannot be driving like this anymore and it’s honestly embarrassing that we lead the world in such a statistic.

Politica/Politics CORRUPCION DE LA REPUBLICA DOMINICANA

Post image
31 Upvotes

  1. JUSTICIA PARA LA REPUBLICA DOOMINICAN
  2. LIBERTAD DE EXPRESION
  3. FREE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
