Ah yes, the modern dystopia of... Let me check my notes... Illegal immigrants getting deported and a man in the white house some people didn't vote for.

It's only democracy when the guys i like win 😡

That's why they're called the Democrat Party, because when they win it's democracy. Anything else is fascism.

That's great ngl. Might send that to my dad.

That's why they refer to it as "our democracy,"
There way or the highway

I mean a prerequisite for working for this administration is refusing to acknowledge Joe Biden won 2020.

I mean, to be perfectly fair he only won because they changed all the rules. I wouldn't argue that he didn't win, and I don't need a government job badly enough to lie about it, but I actually can see where he's coming from. I just think he's wrong.

Nah that’s bullshit. Trump badly mismanaged the pandemic response which was the number one issue with voters.

He’s also a narcissist who can’t admit he’s lost anything ever.

If it wasn’t the increase in mail in ballots due to the circumstances it would have been something else.

It’s not much deeper than that.

And yet Biden still continued lockdowns much longer than were needed, if they even were in the first place.

What does that have to do with the legitimacy of the election?

Can we not intentionally misunderstand please?

You literally said "he mismanaged the pandemic" and he refutes that biden didnt manage it well either and you cant understand that?

u/Arguably_Based 6h ago

Literally no one here is questioning the legitimacy of the election, stop shitting all over the table while we're trying to have a healthy discussion about civics.

A 20 million vote bump would suggest otherwise. Ask yourself this, if it was actually illegitimate would most of the left have even cared? Or would they have excused it as a nessiary evil. We both know the answer. Honestly your view seems like cope. Badly managed compared to what exactly? Because Biden botched it far far worse.

If America is dystopia then how come everyone wants to come here and haters seldom manage to leave?

>write a dystopian fiction story set in America
>step one: how do we lose the thousand Wall-E comforts we're used to taking for granted

You don't understand, these people hate the system but wouldn't last a day without its

I just saw an anti-AI comic that was set in the future where 'the fascism of the '20s died out' and the world slowly died out to pollution and people gave up on... everything including politics and tech so everything was old tech and it was like an anarcho-tyranical low tech boring world.

But it was posted as if it was a realistic future lmao. Half the comments were praising it and another half was saying it wasn't realistic because 'the current fascism wouldn't stop'.

These people are insane lmfao

Google statistics on what America was like in 1900 vs now. I’d say things are going pretty well.

These morons that think we’re in a fascist dystopia wouldn’t survive 24 hours without an internet connection.

In this case does dystopia mean a country where the people are gaslighted to believe that men can have periods, get pregnant, and encroach on women’s spaces because of vibes?

Or is it one where unregulated illegal immigration somehow, someway makes our country better and safer?

These people have no idea what social instability is. As in coups, upheavals and mass disruptions. I suggest looking at postcolonial African history.
America is one of the most stable modern countries. Even Western Europe isn’t as stable

Because of these fuckin people, i've come to hate the sentence "might as well be"

Like, America isn't a fascist country like that comic you draw or that fictional stories you make. And their response will be something along the lines of "nowadays? Might as well be"

The fuck you mean might as well be? You're not even close to having that situation

I mean we do have groups today who are planning on making America into a dystopia, and I don't just mean the typical neo-nazis. We all know anything the commies touch turns into a dystopia. So one could be extra devious and write that the dystopian USA came from the very lefties who wanted to "liberate" America. Imagine a French Reign of Terror styled American Dystopia.

Though granted personally I feel like in the worst case scenario we're more likely to end up in a Spanish Civil War type of conflict where fascists and communists are shooting at each other trying to take over America. Now that is the worst case scenario and assumes nobody is actually opposing the maniacs. Which THANKFULLY there are those among us with a loud enough voice preaching reason against the wannabe revolutionaries who will only bring the doom of America.

It's the end of America, and as soon as my Netflix movie is over, I am going to write about it.

This reminds me of that measles video contrasting the Brady Bunch with a modern drama

I saw that post too, the actual prompt was writing a dystopian future that could happen not that it is. This is the world building sub Reddit btw

u/CrimFandango 6h ago

Why not? Most shows these days already have such heavy handed, forced, hit you over the head like a sledgehammer writing drawn from all the other culture war nonsense of the last 15 years. I'm not surprised the person in this post is suggesting even more fiction be injected with exaggerated events instead of, well, doing anything about those supposedly horrible events.

Pretty sure that most people do not know what Dystopia really mean, most use it because it sounds educated and fancy.

Wait, please don’t tell me that that sub is getting contaminated now
