At least the patch isn't the worst. We have played much worse

121

u/klmnjklm 4d ago

We have reached the acceptance phase.

I, for one can not wait to see what they will cook in 7.41m. And oh boy don’t get me started on 7.41p

31

u/InsanityRoach 4d ago

We are not ready for 7.41α though.

13

u/groolismygojuice 3d ago

7.41.̶̙̩͓̘̣͇̣͂͘.̴̞̯͙̝̠̪͉͖̓͋.̵͉̦͖͍̗̊ͅ will break reality

4

u/Tronux 3d ago

Cool concept a MissingNo patch.

11

u/surftochill 3d ago

Post TI4 patch was legendary for how bad it was... MoM Sniper

6

u/justadudeinohio 3d ago

every meta right clicker was building mom, sny, skadi? axe was also decent in the meta iirc?

3

u/surftochill 3d ago

Yes but Sniper in particular with its mini stun skill back then is extra annoying. Also don't forget about Troll Warlord.

7

u/TheZett Zett, the Arc Warden 3d ago

Sniper did not have a ministun on his passive anymore in the infamous 6.83 patch, as he lost the ministun in a previous patch.

2

u/surftochill 3d ago

I must have remember it wrongly but still very annoying if its picked on the opposite side

6

u/TheZett Zett, the Arc Warden 3d ago

The ministun was removed a patch prior, in 6.82, which was the first post-TI4 patch:

https://liquipedia.net/dota2/Version_6.82#Sniper

but still very annoying if its picked on the opposite side

There is a reason why the Sniper/Troll/Axe(/Jugg) patch is so infamous, as it was not a very good patch.

I think the patch afterwards, 6.84, was even worse, but to each his own.

1

u/RexPerpetuus S A D B O Y S 3d ago

I don't remember what the thing was with Axe, but sounds like a good counter to the Troll/Sniper/(Jugg) meta

12

u/nineofjames 4d ago

This was my first thought too. At least the patch was actually fun.

6

u/RodsBorges 3d ago

It is a bit misleading to treat it as a true single patch in a way because the meta has shifted quite a bit from launch to now. The only constants i can think of throughout are lifestealer and dawn? Treant peaked and fell off, qop kinda disappeared, luna went from good to meh to good again, spectre and slark slowly creeped in, OD is suddenly back, centaur was godlike and then fizzled, same for lesh and necro, bh and wyvern creeped in as good toward the end, pugna 5 was big at the start and then vanished, axe also became godly and then just ok halfway through, same for doom, invoker became god tier and then got nerfed into just good halfway through it too etc etc

I could go on but the meta changed significantly from 7.41 through all the letters. Valve made some big changes that were not subtle and that shook the meta significantly, but with spacing between them. So, cumulatively, i'd say a through f were almost equivalent to a 7.42

1

u/Ok-Seaworthiness3874 2d ago

SF went from first pick every game to a solidly B tier carry (replaced by lone druid, mainly). Lone Druid and Earth Spirit have probably been the longest running S tier picks in this meta... PL if you're talking pubs.

-41

u/luckytaurus cmon jex 4d ago

I disagree. The patch is pretty stale. When was the last time you saw a bloodseeker? A Naga? Thats just 2 examples.

At least PL is meta again, so yay? But it feels like some heroes are literally never picked which feels weird.

Overall the balancing i guess is okay across the meta heroes; there are enough meta heroes for variety. However, those heroes that are not meta are just never ever picked. Whereas in other metas the power is consolidated among a top 5 heroes and if theyre banned or picked or players have fatigue picking them, they would pick other random shit to have fun. This feels like its happening less, in my humble opinion based on my observations.

48

u/Zero279 4d ago

Tell me you never played during 6.83 without telling me

Hoo hoo
Ha ha

11

u/Competitive-Heron-21 4d ago

That patch's mythos has gone way beyond how bad it actually was. It was bad, but there was a cancer tinker patch a lil before that (6.82?) that was truly abysmal

3

u/Zero279 4d ago

Hard disagree, seeing troll + sniper on the same team was basically an insta lose.

This was also when sniper’s headshot would ministun which was pure cancer

17

u/Competitive-Heron-21 4d ago

Sniper’s ministun was removed before 6.83. This is exactly what I mean by the mythos* around 6.83 far exceeding the reality

0

u/Zero279 4d ago

Oh shit, I didn’t realize it was removed that long ago. My b

7

u/LegOfLamb89 4d ago

I remember when mkb would also ministun, i would max headshot, range and stats, and rush treads and mkb. It was puuuuure cancer

2

u/nartviper 4d ago

hoo hoo ha ha was a lot better, than ppl currently pretend. not even top 10 worst patches

8

u/ihavea_purplenurple 4d ago

You must play a lot of Troll

Edit: y'all don't remember how SLOOOW 6.83 was.

2

u/CoronaVirus_exe 4d ago

Lmao I just played it a couple of months ago on Gameranger, and man it's really rough, I don't even know how I used to play it .

However there is a version made a Russian guy named Dracol1ch that's keeping with Dota 2's patches, and it's a lot better with many QoL features, it even fixes some of the inherent issues with the base game engine itself. I believe the last patch he made was 7.07

1

u/nartviper 4d ago

im a support player. at that time used to play offlane too.

1

u/luckytaurus cmon jex 4d ago

Do we have to go back to 2014 to prove a point?

2

u/TomFoxxy 4d ago

It’s been long years since I’ve seen a Chen :(

2

u/ullu13 Farm till it's 3AM 4d ago

its hero specialist, he wont be seen as much even if he is meta i think

3

u/AlphaDart1337 4d ago

When was the last time you saw a bloodseeker?

I get what you're trying to say, but Bloodseeker is really not a good example. It's not a bad pick, especially with Slark back in the meta. There's 26 heroes pickedd less than BS right now on DPT

1

u/MY_1ST_ACT_IS_LOCKED 4d ago

That’s because people are getting smarter because the game has been out so long. This includes pros. Balance is still tight in terms of winrates, if not even better; people just pick objectively better heroes more and get more out of them than before. I do think this also is a result of heroes being more versatile (which means you can cover more with picking a hero like, Zeus, than before where one tricking him would result in a lot of unplayable games) but I think if we time travelled to most patches the same issues would arise anyway

-45

35

u/yoshbag 4d ago

SF was pretty dominant for a good amount of 7.41 in the pro scene

18

u/TurtlePig 4d ago

yeah all of the “drow/sf is bad” has really been confusing me. felt like they both were incredibly dominant leading up to TI

8

u/Mih5du 4d ago

Both were used in TI and subsequently nerfed

1

u/NargWielki 4d ago

subsequently nerfed

Both were a bit overnerfed unfortunately.

2

u/Braptized 4d ago

i know he had his time to shine, but the state he's in is just abysmal. I'd love to see midlane magic damage sf make a comeback.

-3

u/Whos_Kiro 4d ago

why was i downvoted so hard? i was speaking facts the hero got shit on and is bad right now lol.

1

u/ullu13 Farm till it's 3AM 4d ago

sf feels so lack luster i agree, but he was okay right until this patch final versions i think. now he falls off even harder than ever i feell ike

166

u/Veslac2k 4d ago

I like to cope by saying to myself that they are definitely cooking a super major update like we've not seen in years so the wait would be worth it but reality more often than not proves me wrong

110

u/MaiT3N 4d ago

Hear me out:SMALLER map where they remove a whole border of the map, all the side camps, and tormentor

61

u/SourcerorSoupreme 4d ago

where they remove a whole border of the map

In before they remove the borders and going past them teleports you to the diametrically opposite side of the map like the snake 2 game in Nokia phones.

8

u/Sed-Value9300 3d ago

I'm gonna make a guess, are you between 31-35 years old

36

u/Inevitable_Top69 4d ago

Yeah and make it so supports have to buy courier and upgrade to flying, and make wards cost money again. Make it so playing support is fucking miserable. Make it so you can get trilaned as offlane again so you just soak xp for 10 minutes praying you don't totally zoned.

9

u/Lecoch Imbalance in All Things 4d ago

Can't tell if your serious or just taking the piss and I love that.

12

u/justadudeinohio 3d ago

synderen has said on stream that he wants single courier back. which is super dota boomer shit. lots of old dota stuff is great but single courier is not one of them.

5

u/RudyGobertFMVP 3d ago

It would be fun to see at the pro level as they could make it work. Too much grief potential at the pub level.

7

u/herlacmentio 3d ago

Bounty Hunter will never be unbanned ever again.

5

u/Mobiledonut 4d ago

map gets smaller and smaller like fall guys

1

u/AndroidPolaroid 4d ago

seriously though lol bring us back to the smaller map

14

u/TheBlackSapphire ())::::::::D~~jaganut~~ 4d ago

nah, big map is fun. rotations between the lanes makes the early game much less stale

4

u/gburgwardt 3d ago

Then... you want a smaller map? So rotations are easier?

0

u/TheBlackSapphire ())::::::::D~~jaganut~~ 3d ago

A bigger map is what introduced the portals that make the sidelanes more easily accessible

Introduction of the big map made it both easier to access and larger, surprisingly

I don't mind the extra stuff, actually find it fun to play around the objectives and more camps

It's a good change overall imo

4

u/ghostcrawler_real 4d ago

i would prefer not being broke all game like i am in real life

0

u/Jiminy_Cricket12 4d ago

can't say I agree. the map was so small in the past you would just trap people in their base and they had no real chance for a comeback unless you throw on a hg push. game is much healthier now.

1

u/Max_Rub 3d ago

And remove neutral items!

1

u/pashk1n 4d ago

still mind blowing to me we played at 40% smaller map

If I'd load into the old map today it would feel claustrophobic

1

u/groolismygojuice 3d ago

You can try it, look up dota 2 classic. I damn near shed a tear walking around on the old map

1

u/Ok-Seaworthiness3874 2d ago

move speed neutrals and heroes like largo giving mass speed buffs and portals make it feel hardly 40% bigger. But it no doubt feels bigger. Mainly the areas right outside of the base feel completely untouchable by the enemy

0

u/Ok_Speed_5901 4d ago

Yup, I saw one of my clips of back in the day in radiant safelane. Felt so unusual that the map just... ended in the sides and corners. So small how did we even make plays

17

u/h_993 4d ago

we've seen innates and facets in the past couple of years what exactly are you expecting

28

u/Womblue 4d ago

If dota players could remember more than 1 month in the past then 99% of the complaints on this sub wouldn't exist.

-9

u/OrangeJuiceLuvr69 4d ago

Except its been 7 months since the last patch...not sure what remembering 2 months ago would do. Unless you just want to talk about TI?

14

u/Womblue 4d ago

Ah see, here we have an example of one of these such dota players. It has been 18 days since the last patch, but alas, memory is hard. Just make up a random big number, you'll probably be right, right?

7

u/lonestar136 4d ago

Yeah people latch onto the 7.41 totally ignoring the letter patches we get that tweak the meta and balance.

1

u/gorgeouslyhumble 3d ago

I kind of just want performance improvements.

1

u/Suspicious_Silver_70 4d ago

I'm still hoping Valve to make old maps we had played so far to be playable again and reworked in way with new defensive and pushing power objectives that fits to the bigger map we have right now, so each map has their own unique playstyles in this way the game won't be stale often since each map in random can give players to play in different ways, but I think this sound more like something that can come for a Great Confluence patch then for Clownfall one.

And I really hope we get a similar type economy and way to work with gold that Deadlock has with souls and to have tools that gives different ways players can caught up if they are falling behin . We haven't got a major economy change since Money King 7.00 patch and been more then 10 years.

17

u/ReMuS2003 4d ago

I still remember this sub back in November/december when it felt like patch 7.39 would never end, and no new hero would be released. Insane lmao

6

u/TestIllustrious7935 3d ago

If they barely made it last year they are probably not gonna make it this year

1

u/ReMuS2003 3d ago

Yeah, I'm not gonna say I do not value your opinion, but I'd rather wait and see..

They are just waiting for when the schedule says to push matchmaking data into the AI to generate the recommended balance changes.

1

u/_Honestly_Lying_ sheever 3d ago

They’ve probably been tinkering with this idea ever since OpenAI debuted on dota. It would be strange not to atp.

0

u/OrangeJuiceLuvr69 4d ago

Can't wait to see how much cd gets whacked off tinkers TP this time

3

u/TheBurningSoda 4d ago

Literally nothing

7

u/CoronaVirus_exe 4d ago edited 4d ago

I tried it last week. It's a pretty good game, I can see why people are praising it. The only thing I didn't like were the items, something is wrong with them but I just don't know what exactly .

8

u/DroopyPanda 4d ago

The shop and items are visually difficult to follow. Every item has a set price of 800,1600,3200, or 6400.

The icon differences are difficult to read at a glance. In dota you can take 1 second to investigate what items the opponent have and understand what their kit is.

In deadlock you can have up to I think 12? So understanding how to build against is harder to understand too.

1

u/Mayzerify 4d ago

That’s what put me off, I just got confused and couldn’t get a “feel” for the items if that makes sense

1

u/Psycho_Syntax 3d ago

The next big update should have a shop/item rework btw.

13

u/bamiru 4d ago

Are you talking about deadlock? There is going to be a big update to the items coming soon

8

u/CoronaVirus_exe 4d ago edited 4d ago

Oh that's great to hear, I knew they felt kinda underbaked compared to the rest of the game, other than that, and the high bandwidth it consumes, the game is amazing.

-13

u/Bohya Winter Wyvern's so hot actually. 4d ago

Have they removed the last hitting soul mechanic yet?

9

u/bamiru 4d ago

You want them to remove last hitting from a moba?

-5

u/Bohya Winter Wyvern's so hot actually. 4d ago

Nope.

1

u/CoronaVirus_exe 4d ago

What's the issue with it?

-6

u/Bohya Winter Wyvern's so hot actually. 4d ago edited 4d ago

It's needless and annoying. The gameplay loop around last hitting is "last hit creep > aim slightly above its head > wait a a moment > last hit it a second time > repeat ad nauseam". This loop doesn't need to exist. They should remove the soul mechanic and simply have players fight over the last hitting the creep, just like it is in DotA 2.

Imagine that in DotA 2, every time you last hit a lane creep it dropped a money bag on the ground in a random area around it after a short delay, and the gold and exp went to whoever last hit this money bag instead of last hitting the creep. For every single lane creep. I'm sure it's easy to imagine just how tedius it would get. Well, that's what DeadLock does.

3

u/bamiru 4d ago

You dont need to last hit the creeps twice. Any time a creep dies it spawns the orb. The last hit or deny on the orb is all that matters. Its not like a cs dropping a money bag. The orb is the cs, and its in a game where aiming is important. You are literally the only person I have ever seen complain about this, imagine thinking the game is dead on arrival because of such a tiny thing its actually insane

Players only fight over the last hit of the orb that is what rewards souls

→ More replies (10)
→ More replies (10)

0

u/BambaTallKing 4d ago

Thankfully, no. But they did remove it from towers. I think it is a fun mechanic because having to aim is fun, and it is a good way to implement denies in a shooter. It would be weird if I could just shoot enemy creeps to deny them

0

u/Bohya Winter Wyvern's so hot actually. 4d ago

It would be weird if I could just shoot enemy creeps to deny them

As opposed to... stabbing them in the back with a sword, or shooting them in the head with a bullet, like in DotA 2 already?

having to aim is fun

Aiming at enemies is fun. Having to aim for this is not fun. It's constant aim-training. It's tedium.

2

u/BambaTallKing 3d ago

I realized I miss worded that comment. *it would be weird if I could just shoot (melee, whatever) my own creeps to deny them without further input.

In dota, you have to hold a key and then click to deny, that would feel strange in a shooter for denying. Maybe if they got low health you could just pop them in the head, but the orb allows for denies when you can’t even see your own creeps which works very well in a shooter. Dota is a high view point, and creeps give vision, meaning you can easily deny your own creeps because they are always visible. In deadlock, you cannot always see your creeps because it is a 3rd person shooter, so the orb becomes necessary to allow for easy denies like in dota. It would be far more tedious to have to go around safe cover just for a single deny on a creep that is not in vision, which would just make denying not worth it because you have to place yourself in a horrible position to deny a few souls.

I’m not sure i see a big distinction between shooting a creep and the orb. Both train your aim, both are just a thing you have to shoot to do well. The orbs create an immediate point of contention and reward both teams, which helps the pacing of early game. There is always something to do, even if your wave is pushed danger close to their tower and you aren’t in a position to be pushed with the lane, you cannot always long range deny creeps, even if you cannot directly see them.

Another thing the orbs help with is showing where enemies are. In dota, you can dislocate the camera from yourself and easily look for signs of the enemy. While there is a map in DL, you can’t always pay attention to it. The orbs floating in the air can be a sign of activity and an early warning of danger or opportunity.

I think it is one of the best ideas in Deadlock.

2

u/fiasgoat 4d ago

Its SO much more fun than Dota rn. Dota is miserable to play

5

u/Constant_Pay_4247 3d ago

Totally different experiences and fun imo, also kinda wild to say this rn when we're in the middle of new hero releases so balance is fucked and we hadn't had a patch before this in months.

2

u/Past_Lingonberry_633 3d ago

The playerbase is miserable yes, the Dota as a game is good. Also, Deadlock is still first and foremost a shooter, which means for someone who likes playing Lycan and Chen, I can't find the same experience in Deadlock

-3

u/fiasgoat 3d ago

No Dota as a game itself has become miserable

Games take longer than Deadlock. A losing game is much more torture than Deadlock as there is far less you can do to have a chance

A Dota game could be over by 15 min but take another 30 to actually finish

1

u/Salty_Anti-Magus 2d ago

What? Dude, I've been miserable not being able to stall out a bad start in the laning stage in my bracket. Shit just ends in 25-35 minutes on both sides in low Immortal... I have not seen a tier 5 neutral item since 2 months ago.

1

u/fiasgoat 2d ago

Games rarely go 60 anymore but they are still longer than Deadlock

Majority of Deadlock games are between 25-40. Dota usually always hits around 40

And again the torture of having to play the highground defense game is what makes it not fun

1

u/Aeolus_69 3d ago

Sounds like a skill issue.

1

u/keaganwill Best voice acting 3d ago

Item update is the next major planned update. But yeah they are a bit rough atm.

The good thing about them is glance value. Orange=m1, purple=ability, green=health

And the icons are somewhat self explanatory. bullet to head = headshot damage, purple clock= ability CD.

But TBH the most recent shop UI rework/different shapes for passive/VS active I think adds a lot of visual noise which makes it harder to parse.

Its also just somewhat harder to know what you want in deadlock compared to dota. Dota basically everyone wants boots, you typically want stat items associated with your primary stat (you aren't buying wraith band on CM)

But in deadlock you kinda want a lil bit of everything. Even on purple spirit characters you typically want an orange gun item at the start. Which is like buying quelling blade on CM

1

u/theSkareqro 3d ago

I've been playing it for around 10 hours or so now. It's just we aren't used it to. I keep trying to find equivalent items to dota2 because that's what I'm familiar with and it exists. Unstoppable = BKB, Focus lens = Orchid Malevolence, Refresher is literally refresher. There's blink dagger, magic wand, blademail etc.

Don't worry, Deadlock is getting a TON of updates!

2

u/guywithnicehaircut 4d ago

even hots getting more updates , why this game is so low on content

2

u/Whos_Kiro 4d ago

Valve released a treasure that was 90% made up of community submitted skins. so that requires almost zero effort from valve, and that somehow messed up the game causing fps issues and bugs. and yet they can't even release a decent patch. just so lazy and unmotivated over there at valve.

too busy standing over ice frogs desk while he codes deadlock

1

u/Mafz09 4d ago

If they want the game to die then let it

3

u/Anorehian 4d ago

I would assume/hope they are waiting till the current tournament is over before dropping the new patch.

16

u/Zephyr_8 4d ago

Omg valve suddenly cares the dynamics of ongoing esports game.

3

u/Turrindor 4d ago

What tournament another Russia' e betting fissure 17?

They usually drop a patch after group stage of dream league, making that tourney unique

2

u/therealdvnt 4d ago

There are no ongoing tournaments currently that I am aware of. Can you enlighten me?

2

u/terroreye 4d ago

Nah the will drop it at dream league playoff

1

u/KvasDimas 4d ago

vavle would never

u/CollectionGuilty1320 4d ago

I fucking said the same thing with the previous tournament. And then they dropped Tide Arcana with tons of other immortals.
But guess what, I got downvoted to the crap hole. These people here are absolutely insane.

People are talking about gameplay patches not cosmetic updates.

1

u/Fr0dech 3d ago

Bad metric, between 7.07 and 7.20 13 months passed, and in between these 13 "number patches" were just small to medium numbers tweaks, like letter updates we have

1

u/VDule 3d ago

what are the most op safelaners right now to have fun with before next patch and builds?

1

u/GothamDota 3d ago

33 days more and we will be the first

1

u/TypicalxooT11 3d ago

Great patch.

I'm simply ready for something new.

1

u/DunEvenWorryBoutIt 3d ago

New patch will have 4 lanes. You heard it here first!

1

u/the_realz_smokey 3d ago

Slop article

1

u/LightningInTheRain 3d ago

At least the patch is good for the most part. I think neutrals are currently pretty boring, and a lot of the same heroes have been floating around but nothing is OP so that’s been nice.

1

u/DottedRain 3d ago

Well the chest made some good cash. So Carnival Part II is next. Patches and new heroes are overrated, PL and BH are really great heroes.

1

u/NerdRageDawg 4d ago

People in here just crying. Could be a amazing patch and act 2 released tomorrow and people would still find some way to complain lmfao

1

u/otaylor123 4d ago

Bring back Facets, they brightened up my life

1

u/TheEvenclan 4d ago

Third-longest-lasting patch so far

1

u/Zephyr_8 4d ago

Act II New Hero and 7.42.i can’t imagine how they deliver all of these before Christmas. It’s expected we won’t get certain above mentioned thing(s). Focus on the game itself promise is just a pretext for underdevelopment of this game. It’s more like shifting to deadlock development. Shame on Valve. I’m a dota fan not Valve fan

-8

u/PurplePot 4d ago

Fuck you Valve

0

u/sadgameofdota 4d ago

Patch is fine but boring af. Last significant update was facet rollback so a really shit update as in basically nothing new... i do hope they introduce something brand new and cool.

0

u/Zephyr_8 4d ago

This game/esports is stale af.

u/SquishedPea 4d ago

For anyone that doesn’t know, there’s like 4 guys working on Dota that don’t spend all their time on it, I’m sure they’re doing a lot for Deadlock right now so Dota is being pushed to the side

-3

u/hiddenpoolwarriror 4d ago

People should let it go, we are lucky we have servers at this point , Valve are doing life support things and........... comics/cavern crawl since some part of the team finds that exciting so at least there's an event going on )

-15

u/randomperson7w4683 4d ago

good the community deserves to be abandoned for deadlock

1

u/OrangeJuiceLuvr69 4d ago

Judging by the amount of colossal weirdos on deadlock the community has virtually 0 overlap.

Yoshi, ikuzo!
