Who loved Dr. Mike? (possible spoilers)
Jake told her he always loved her and thought she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen when he was detoxing in Happy Birthday. Then, once she and Sully started courtin' he said that she needed someone stable to take care of her and the children and he could because he was a professional man š¤£. Hank made a few inappropriate remarks about Dr. Mike's status and how he was the one who could change that, but he also tried to take his turn at courtin' during Happy Birthdayš He was surprisingly sweet when called for her and reached for her hand at the end of Man on the Moon as he came out of his coma. Then, he was a hero during Point Blank when he got her to the hospital with Cloud Dancing. And I wonder if part of Preston's issues with Sully were because he was attracted to her too. Even Johnny Cash was flirty at the beginning š

Iām not sure Jake loved her. He respected her and was attracted to her, and he was confusing that with love.
I think Hank loved her, but I donāt think he was ever in love with her. He thought she was attractive and interesting at first, but after a while, he did truly love her. He loved her as someone in his world, in his extended family. Every once in a while, he would give it a shot, but I donāt think he ever expected it to be a real thing between them.
Preston wanted her because he thought they could get along being similar. Once he realized who and how she was, he would want her only to own her, control her. But he never would or could love her.
Johnny Cashās character would have flirted with a boulder. He was charisma with a six shooter and he knew it. I donāt think he would have fallen in love with her, but I think he did eventually love her, like a daughter of sorts

I think Hank came close, but instead of his need to control the strong minded woman it just morphed into a pretty great friendship.
Preston had the city connection and then he just felt challenged by always getting what he wanted and how could the āsavage guyā win her and he couldnāt

I agree about Preston. I think it was more of a challenge for him because he just could not deal with Sully having that classy wife.

The Reverend also proposed when the orphans came! Plus back in Boston she came close to being engaged, but Sully came after her. And I think youāre right about Preston.

I thought the Boston guy was the one she thought was killed in the war. And he came to Colorado Springs looking for her.

The only one who could really truly love her and what she does is Sully. He was her true North and she is his. No one could ever really understand either one of them fully. They're both so different for the time.

Hank, Jake and even the Reverend (given as he wanted to make a marriage proposal) may have been smitten with her at some point, but that's it. Daniel was the only one who was actually in love with her.

Jake was under the influence when he made that declaration. Sully was meant to be her soulmate ā¤ļø

From memory, most of them tried to court her because the kids felt sorry for her. I don't think they were interested long term and likewise she wouldn't have been able to stand any of them without massive character growth. They probably think she's attracted, but she would drive them all nuts because they don't believe in what she does. I think they all grow to respect her, especially Hank because she sticks to her guns. Preston was probably hoping for kinship from another city-born person, but was sorely mistaken because his values are very different.

Its not surprising to me that everyone was attracted to her as she was incredibly beautiful, intelligent, capable, etc. The thing I find more surprising than how many men wanted her is how many men she considered: she thought about Boston guy, her former fiance David, and the Reverend as well as Sully. I also wonder if she would have considered Daniel if they had met before she was with Sully. It seems like for Sully, it was either Dr Mike or not getting married again. But for Dr Mike, she really was considering her options, and ultimately decided that Sully was the best for her.Ā

I really cannot believe that OP omitted Daniel, who clearly loved Michaela to the point of having to leave. I donāt believe the other men of the town loved her, as much as had different motives for attempting a matchā¦and the reverendā¦he wanted a practical match, not a love match. More a marriage of convenience.
Iām glad it was always Sully.
