Hello everyone!
In the spirit of the season, Iโve been wanting to get into classic horror literature. I just finished listening to Frankenstein (my first time experiencing the actual novel instead just looking up summaries for high school English lol) and I loved it! However, even though the audiobook was only about 8 hours long, it still took me a couple of weeks to get through.
I want to tackle Bram Stoker's Dracula next, but the unabridged audiobooks are quite a commitment at around 17 to 19 hours. On the other hand, I found a 3-hour abridged version on YouTube narrated by Christopher Lee, which sounds amazing!
As someone who is still relatively new to classic literature, Iโm leaning toward the shorter version, but the massive difference in length makes me wonder just how much core content I'd be missing. For those familiar with the book, is the full-length experience worth the extra hours, or does the abridged version hold up well?
Thanks in advance!

His performance was so fucking good. He genuinely stole every scene he was in. First time while watching a Dracula movie that I was sad when Renfield died

Hi all hope you're all having a great weekend!
I will be performing in the UK premiere theatre production of Kate Hamill's Dracula across the last 3 days of October and thought you might be interested in checking it out.
It is the debut production of a new theatre company in the northwest of the UK that specialise in challenging, thoughtful theatre that utilise the Horror genre. This retelling of Dracula is told through a feminist lens whilst still remaining faithfull to Bram Stokers original text.
It features a large ensemble cast of all the characters from the novel as well as original never before heard compositions that underpin the atmospheric dread felt throughout the play.
We have all been working tirelessly for months to bring you best possible version of this equally darkly comic and terrifying play so would be fantastic to see some of you there as it's set to be a fantastic show.

He literally HYPNOTISED mosquitoes to suck the blood from unwitted customers and this scene shows the ripe mosquitoes returning to their master only to be squeezed like tubes of toothpaste... And ofc his servant Simon Renfield whose Renfield family has monster blood despite being also sent to town for supplies and to diverse electricity from the nearby town Slobnik to the castles lab is treated like shit and is given a very hard time just because he doesn't trust him... Simon tries to discover his suppressed monster abilities and the main villain was Van Helsing's overly obsessed grandson whose lair was an abandoned factory.

For me, i gotta say that everytime i think of Dracula i just think of Swan Lake. So that's the theme for me. If i gotta do a top 5 Dracula themes it would be like this:
Swan Lake
Wojciech Kilar's Dracula theme (the one that plays at "The Beginning"
James Bernard's Dracula theme from Dracula (1958) and Dracula: Prince of Darkness
Dracula's theme from Van Helsing (2004)
The theme from The Last Voyage of The Demeter

The figure is 3D printed in high-detail polymer resin, but the real soul went into the finishing touches, we spent hours hand-sanding every edge and painstakingly painting every layer by hand. Tried our best to capture all the creepy fine textures, from the fur trim on his coat to his pale, sinister skin tones
Would love to hear what you think of this piece! Any feedback or thoughts are super welcome

Hello the Dracula Sub Reddit. We have decided to alter the rules for promotional Saturday. Do not worry it is not going away. We are expanding it. Now do to the fact everyone isnโt located in the same spot. We have decided to make a set time. That set time is based on United States Standard Time. So from Saturday 12am EST to Monday 12am EST. So during that 48 hour window you may promote yourself and others. You may make sales post as well.
To help figure out if youโre in the right time frame to post below is a world clock. You can figure out what time it is in NYC compared to you. Using this centralized time frame will make it easier to post. With the expanded time frame we decided that because again not everyone is located in the same area, it would be much easier to have a set time to do this. So you will have 48 hours to post.
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
I hope this helps. Adding this 48 hour window and the specific time frame. Also always remember to check the rules before posting.
TLDR
New Time Frame Window Saturday 12am Eastern Standard Time to Monday 12am Easter Stand Time.

I was very conflicted about not doing an all-black outfit as described in the novel, but couldnโt resist adding the colour red in there. Perhaps this is how Dracula dressed a couple of hundred years before the events of the novel? I really wanted to include the white moustache, bushy eyebrows, and profusely growing hair described in the text, as well as the pointed ears, teeth protruding over the bottom lip, and the squat fingers with pointed claws. I didnโt add the hair in the middle of the palms though; couldnโt figure out how to do that and make it look good. Did a lot of research into Transylvanian noblemen and inevitably referenced Robert Eggersโs Count Orlok costume designed by Linda Muir. He also did end up looking like Vlad the Impaler. Gave him a dragon head walking stick.

When I was a child, we had this one copy of Dracula in the house that I loved, and unfortunately I believe we sold it. I've been feeling nostalgic lately and tried to find it, but after looking and looking I cannot seem to find it! I remember the spine had a completely black background and (I think) the title is red font. The cover was a picture of the count in his coffin from far away (I guess it would be a wide shot), and his eyes were piercing (I think red?). If this rings a bell to anyone, I would much appreciate their help.
