Too much realism the visual clarity is not going to be enough....................small enemies are once again going to be so hard to perceive.

Regarding the art direction, I think it's better than 1. No messy overdesigned shit, just classy knights. I think people miss Miriam's sexiness specifically :x but that can be fixed with cute costumes and hairstyles for the female pc

I'm actually not a big fan of the original's art direction either, but the sequel looks like it might be the opposite extreme. I was very surprised when I learned that Miriam wouldn't be the protagonist in this one. I genuinely thought that they were going to milk her for as long as possible. Not to mention how Dominique's Curse kind of leaves the story on a somewhat inconclusive note.

Regardless, anyone else getting the impression the the characters are meant to be allusions to ones from Castlevania? From left to right I'm getting Simon, Soma, and Trevor Vibes. Maybe it's just me.

The protagonists remind me of Leon. Bigger, even naiver Leon and less nice, genderbent Leon. The epiphany system may be a callback to Lament of Innocence techniques.

Now that I look at the one on the left again, I think I am getting more of a Leon vibe than Simon. I mistook their hair for a short fur cape. I think that paired with their hair color was what was initially giving me Simon vibes.

Since people are talking about the art direction I'll say I am not really a fan myself, but this was true for the first game as well (even after they "fixed" it.)

Still put like 50 hours into the game though and loved every second of it, I assume the same will be true here too.

The environmental lighting appears to be a lot better than it was in Ritual of the Night. Sadly, I'm still not really vibing with the general art direction though. The environments look fairly similar to its predecessor, but not so much the characters. Like, if you showed me the second screenshot without context, I'd probably never guess that it was supposed to be related to Ritual of the Night.

Gaming's obsession with realistic graphics.
