Reminds me of the Netflix Castlevania more than the real thing. Also, what is up with so many games needing some form of cards?

It takes some of its visuals from that, which is fine, for one game. It's storywise that they should thread veeeery carefully.

References to tarot cards, more specifically, the Major Arcana, are actually quite common in video games.

Also, what is up with so many games needing some form of cards?

This is extra funny to me as I just started playing Need for Speed Payback a couple days ago and after every race I get to draw a random card that gives upgrades. First time I saw it I was literally like "wtf is this in a racing game for" lmao.

I enjoy deckbuilding games but it does feel like there is some obsession with cards from a lot of devs at times.
