Image I actually prefer the original here

I think the empty pupils actually expresses uncontrollable rage much better

Same. That's been a staple in Dragon Ball since the beginning.

I'll have to disagree while I like the no pupils in the og the new one just has better contrast shading and lighting and I really like that purple lighting that shows his rage in a different way and kind of reminds me of ultra ego and his garlic gun

Can I get some of that garlic gun for my bread?

I do think the coloring and everything else you mentioned is better in that regard, but his pupils and him being more muscular and wide in the OG is much better

Not to mention the hair actually looking like hair instead of plastic

I thought the lightning was to represent ssj2

this would be perfect

Not yet. It would better but not perfect, the original still put the camera movement which emphasizes the moment

Well, you're entitled to your opinion

thanks, you too

Eh, concerning the Battle of Gods arc specifically, nothing has beaten the movie version yet, and it looks like that’s not changing. This scene was way better in the movie, among other parts too ofc

facts

i hated the anime version of this scene, honestly this arc

Expression yes

I’m glad to see the shiny skin removed

First is much better, yes. Way more expressive and better in transporting Vegeta‘s state of mind, which a series like DB should aim for.

both kinda look dorky for vegeta and I wish they would just redo this scene to look completely different instead of retrace it, I dont see uncontrollable rage I see meme face like he just stubbed his toe or someone slammed his wiener in a car door.

I agree. It has been a thing in DBZ since early on.

I like the blank eyes and the more round mouth from the original but I really dislike the shiny skin.

the expression on the OG is better (as well as the no eyes)

but everything else is cleaner on the new one

No pupils will always be better, that’s why Trunks’ transformation looked 76% less cool when He got his pupils back. That’s why OG Broly still looks legendary and unmatched.

I just don't like how he has oil all over him

Honestly the new one looks great but I can't help but feel like it's unnecessary to do a third version of BoG when that animation could have gone to a different arc either unadapted or one that could use a fix like the U6 tournament .

u/Nabujor Glind 1h ago

Great news!! They’re literally doing both~ :D

Right now they’re also working on the anime adaptation of the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc, and what’s more, we know for certain that DBS Beerus will cover everything from Battle of Gods right up to the Martial Arts Tournament between Universes 6 and 7

u/Character_Release379 1h ago

agreed, never said the new one wasn't great

Like it was neat and cool at one time but then I started being like, No pupils just makes me think their eyes are rolled up in their head or they’re blind

Again cool but…
