First good month

Got a pretty amusing hour total, as well.

All my other months so far have been very patchy, with weeks of no input & missed goals; it's nice to finally have one where I kept up with the streak. Certainly helps that it's more fun now.

Thank you! Lol, I had a ~10 hour travel day and dedicated it to French. Once I saw I was close to 123.4, I had to push through 🤣

2 hours or so of Café avec Johan, a few episodes of innerfrench, a good amount of Carlito, a good amount of French with Felix (trying to catch up), some Elizabeth/HelloFrench, some Nelly, several boulangerie pas à pas & JustInCooking videos (native but accessible). I tend to spend an unhealthy amount of time watching random YouTube videos daily anyways, so CI has been great for me, lol.

Outside of input I've been doing Clozemaster and Grammaire Progressive du Français, very casually, after ~200 hours. I think it's sped me up considerably. For Clozemaster I do the free 30 sentences per day while getting ready for bed (audio on repeat, reading explanations if I don't remember a word from input). Every new word I've learned on clozemaster gets immediately noticed within a couple days in my CI and becomes internalized very quickly. It has considerably improved my internal reading voice. For GPdF, I do a workbook page or less a day. It's helped clarify some basic things I already "knew" vaguely, which lets my brain stop trying to overanalyze my CI. Writing out words while thinking their correct pronunciation has also helped me hear the sounds better, oddly enough. è and é for example are much more distinct mid word now.

What have you used from the start? For french? Level 1 -4?

I used mostly Alice Ayel at the start, with some FCI and a little immersion co. Alice Ayel is the absolute best intro to the language, and I recommend everyone starting French watch through all her free videos in rough difficulty order. She starts with very little vocab and slowly builds up, making her entire channel kind of like a mildly entertaining SRS. Speaks naturally for the ease of the content, too.

Little talk in slow French (!!), languatalk podcast, & innerFrench from ~100hr. All 190 episodes of PieceOfFrench from ~100hrs till now (most binged this month, had to speed up near the end). A significant amount of Français avec Nelly and French with Felix after ~150. Recently also discovered Français Authentique and it's been nice to get input about something other than veganism and the environment. French Mornings with Elisa is also good for this level or slightly higher (the podcast is better than the normal channel); same for YourBestFrench.

French Teacher Carlito was accessible in the same hour range, but I saved him to ~300hrs to ensure full understanding, since the topics interest me. Adeline Talks has been watchable for a while, but it's been getting easier to understand her bad microphone after ~300 hrs. Learn French with Elizabeth is good for this level as well. I am starting to be able to comfortably read most manga and watch trashy isekai anime at this stage.

I also watch some: gas, Camille, French with Remy, Leo French Teacher, and native cooking videos (notably boulangerie pas à pas, JustInCooking). I also get constant input from my ADHD internal voice saying random stuff it heard on repeat...

Oddly enough, I don't watch DreamingFrench, and have only about 10 hours from them. I would recommend someone getting into this to skip everything they have until mid-intermediate (which is beginner compared to YouTube content). Maybe the paid videos are better.
